Proposed deletion of London New Music edit

The article London New Music has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article advancing minimal claims to notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AfC notification: Draft:Michael Mosoeu Moerane has a new comment edit

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Michael Mosoeu Moerane. Thanks! Hoary (talk) 09:22, 15 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I repaired the referencing errors. Wikipedia does not use op cit for multiple uses of the same ref. instead, it incorporates a "/" into the ref name for the subsequent uses. David notMD (talk) 10:14, 15 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:M.M. Moerane c. 1965.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:M.M. Moerane c. 1965.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://africlassical.blogspot.com/2014/04/rangoane-khomo-nephew-of-michael-mosoeu.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ---- Okay, thank you very much for the explanation. I understand. The original image I uploaded, I had credited to "Thuso Moerane Private Collection" but then I was advised to delete all references to this personal source in my article and find other sources. I did this in the article, a few days ago, and today I thought that I would give a more verifiable source for the image Michael_Mosoeu_Moerane circa 1926 and so I credited it to https://african-composers-edition.co.za/. This is a source I have used in the article itself. So I'm puzzled as to why today's attempt to rectify the previous error (using a private source) was not accepted. Thank you! ---- Cape doctor (talk) 10:49, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

That source clearly states at the bottom of the page copyright African Composers edition 2022. Theroadislong (talk) 11:57, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Cape doctor If an image is copyrighted, unfortunately, you can't just "give credit" and use the image in Wikipedia. You must find an image that is free of copyright. This area is complicated, so I will leave the details to others -- but I wanted to mention this part clearly. Copyright laws are hard to understand... 73.127.147.187 (talk) 00:08, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
