- Thanks, Ian. This user is also making large numbers of undiscussed edits to other Russian-related music articles, and needs to be halted before he/she does real damage. I've left a polite-ish note on the Rite talkpage asking for prior discussion of any proposed changes beyond trivial or uncontroversial matters. If this is a warrior he/she will take no notice and press on regardless, in which case other action may need to be taken. A flag popped up telling there had been a new link from Ernest Joyce to an article I'd created years ago. Investigating, I saw it was you, again editing on the heroic age of Antarctic exploration. - Thanks, ThinCat. I do occasionally revisit my old Antarctic haunts to update, repair links etc. Joyce was one of my early efforts – 2008 I think – and I recently spent a while attempting to bring it up to today's FA standards. Thank you for Britten's short church opera that "has delighted performers and audiences for more than half a century. - Oh, definitely FAC – the GA process wouldn't be particularly suitable for an article prepared very much with FA standards in mind, and with half a dozen peer reviewers we don't need the extra voice. So I'd close the PR now, nominate for FAC, and wait for the floodgates to open (or not, as the case may be). Brianboulton (talk) 15:20, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi Brian, I've done a little more work on this section (diff) to tie the fictional examples back to material earlier in the article. The section is a little bigger, but (I think) in a way that's in line with the guidance on pop culture material. Since you were concerned about the section, I thought I'd give you a heads up, in case you want to say anything in the FAC page. - It's not necessary to prompt the reviewers who've indicated their support; it's quite OK for you to do minor work on the article while it's still on FAC. I won't add anything myself for the moment. Having gained the support of two of our most experienced and knowledgeable FAC reviewers, you're doing fine! My guess is that before promoting, the coordinators will require at least one more support from someone other than myself, and they may also ask for a spotcheck on sources to test for close paraphrasing. They usually do this for first nominations. So we need to be patient a little longer - I'll chime in next week if necessary. Brianboulton (talk) 20:13, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Hurrah, we are through. Many thanks for your great work on this, which made it possible. One related loose end on which I'd be glad of your opinion. List of compositions by Claudio Monteverdi and Stattkus-Verzeichnis substantially overlap - only that the List gives also the lost works, and SV gives all the individual components of the books etc. Really there ought to be a merge of some sort - what do you think?--Smerus (talk) 21:42, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, and after a relatively smooth FAC (of which you bore the brunt). The collaboration was indeed a pleasure - Monty had been in my sights, on and off, for many years, with an increasing feeling that I ought to do something...well, now it's done, thanks to your initiative. I agree with what you say about the need to merge the SV details into the list of compositions, and I'll attend to this (after a break from CM for a week or so). The coordinators raised a couple of other issues with the article, the first relating to alt text, the second to duplicate links. I think I've sorted out the links. On alt text, my individual position is that I'm unconvinced of its value and don't normally include it, although I don't object if others add it later. So I'll leave that for you to decide. - Thanks for contacting me. in normal circumstances I would welcome the chance to work on this article more actively – for years I had it on my long-term "to do" list, but never got round to doing it. At present the extent of my Wikipedia work is somewhat limited – I mainly confine myself to reviews, mentoring, and bringing older articles I worked on up-to-date. I'm presently involved in a joint enterprise with User:Wehwalt in expanding the article on the former US vice president Spiro Agnew, for which we've just opened a peer review. This is likely to be my main source of activity for the next month or so. But I'll try and find time to comment on the Balfour PR – I would very much like to see this on the main page for the upcoming centenary, although this will I think be a tall order.
