I have cleaned the article up a bit. Two avenues are needed to ensure that an article is kept:

• Links from other articles - I have added links from Spaulding High School and Barre (city), Vermont.
• Independent sources - you need to find reviews of his work in significant publications.

I have supported the retention of the article since the AfD is premature but long term independent references are the key to an article being kept. Please get back to me if I can help further. TerriersFan 00:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

This is looking a very good article - well done. You might like to look at some of the edits that I have made to Stowe Recreation Path. The key points that might be of help to you are:

• The title of the article should be repeated in the first sentence and bolded - see WP:MOS.
• Please note how I have named references to eliminate the need to duplicate identical references.
• A description of the reference should be included in the reference. This is much more important than the access date since it enables the reader to determine whether they are interested in the reference without having to click on it.

I know. And I have no clue how to get an image onto the page. I can't find any pictures of him, and his artwork is clearly commercial, so I can't use that. Can I take a picture of one of his prints that hangs on my wall and then se that? Would it be considered my own work?

And I need some help on redirecting. I created a page entitled Mining in Roman Britain, and I linked a few pages to it, but no one is going to type in Mining in Roman Britain. I mean, come on. No, I will most certainly not forgive your rudeness. Please see WP:CIVIL. Your childishness aside, however, please understand that although you may be new to Wikipedia, that gives you no reason to accuse another editor of "destroy"ing "your" article -- please see WP:OWN. No article is truly yours, though you may have (haphazardly) created it. Furthermore, the "guidelines" you cited on my talk page are only proposed ones and are therefore not yet accepted by the Wikipedia community. Notability of song articles should be thought of in terms of WP:MUSIC, of which an article devoted to a forty-five second song and is sourced by fansites on Geocities and Tripod, I'm relieved to say, do not meet. As for reliable, relevant sources, please see WP:ATT. "A wonderful frame-by-frame storyline of the Return of the King" is not reliable nor is it relevant. As for "wonderful" and other shoddy modifiers, see WP:WEASEL. Because I am not an admin, I cannot close the AFD debate. You are welcome to voice your opinion on the discussion page, but I still think the article is not reliably sourced and only fits biased, fangirl notions of notability. Lastly, and this is important, don't take these things personally, as they happen quite frequently on Wiki (meaning the nominating and the discussion and the deletion). If you can't handle someone messing with your edits, then don't make them in the first place. The "I know you are, but what am I?" tactic is also covered under WP:CIVIL. Your arguments are weak, but I do acknowledge the fact that your edits are not malicious and that you are genuinely making an effort to improve Wikipedia. However, for the second time, Geocities and Tripod pages do not constitute "research," no matter how you refer to them -- don't put lipstick on a pig. Again, this is not personal. I do not believe your age or status have anything to do with the article's notability issues, so there is no need to explain yourself or your editing habits to me. If you feel the need to explain your reasons for creating the article, by all means add it to the AFD discussion page; my opinion has already been voiced. If WP:MUSIC does not answer your need for more suitable guideline and policy, perhaps these will:

• Notability is not popularity: "...many people are interested in this song, as shown by the number of people who have viewed the video on YouTube..."
• Plot summaries: "Wikipedia articles on works of fiction should contain real-world context and sourced analysis, offering detail on a work's achievements, impact or historical significance, not solely a summary of that work's plot."
• What is a reliable source?: "Reliable sources are credible published materials with a reliable publication process; their authors are generally regarded as trustworthy, or are authoritative in relation to the subject at hand."
• Self-published sources: "Anyone can create a website or pay to have a book published, then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason, self-published books, personal websites, and blogs are largely not acceptable as sources."

Failing that, look at Featured Articles on songs and see how The Edge of Night compares. On a side note, if individuals are listing articles you've created for deletion, perhaps you should consider your future contributions more carefully. The Steward of Gondor is not notable in a similar way that eighteen of the nineteen tracks from the RotK soundtrack are also not notable. Therefore, no, I don't believe it has much merit. We're talking less than a minute of a vocal that is neither critically acclaimed nor is it attributable to many reliable sources. I could see adding interviews with Boyd and/or Shore that would attest to its creation (which is unusual; an actor writing his own music and such), but other than that, what is there? Look at this objectively and you have very little to work with, material-wise. There is a plot explanation, which can be removed completely because of it's merely filler, a trivia section, which never has a place in an article and should be integrated elsewhere, and an awards section that is concerned with the award winning soundtrack, which is already mentioned on the RotK article. I believe what little material remains should be merged into the Music of LotR article or RotK, but what is there has been stated elsewhere. Gaius Pontius

The first thing to do with internet sources is write them so the reader can read it instead of just a number. This is done by adding text after a space after the URL: [http://www.something.com Analysis at something.com], which will show up as Analysis at something.com instead of [1]. Also, if you list them as a bulleted list (with each line starting with *) they are listed in less space.

As far as the sources, I deleted the one that was a monologue about the event, since it (being fictional, though based on an event) does not claim to make a clear distinction between what is fact and what is the author's additions. That may be suitable for an external link, but it does not have the reliability needed for a source. Further, wikipedia, answers.com (which largely copies material from wikipedia) and forum entries are generally not considered reliable sources. Anyone can contribute to them, whether they know anything about the subject or not, and they therefore cannot claim the accuracy required. Forums and blogs are generally discouraged, unless they are connected with a well-known journalist or something (and they still are not considered to have the reliability of articles by that journalist). I deleted the ancientworlds.net and romansonline sites because (when I looked at them quickly) they only had pretty basic information that seemed to be repeated elsewhere, so I didn't think they were necessary.

A cleaner way to reference is to use <ref> tags. This is explained at Wikipedia:Footnotes. It's usually a good idea, especially when you have cited information from various sources, to put this after each piece of information, so people checking the veracity of the article can find each fact. It's especially recommended on any controversial or unlikely claims, often including those that go into DYK hooks--it wouldn't hurt for yours. The other statements in the legacy part seems like it could use citations as well. If I was wrong about what I thought were unnecessary sources, you could add them in ref tags, thus making it clear where their information was cited.

Other things that would be great to add to the article if you can find them (they may not be known): birth and death dates (approximate is better than none), anything about his life or background, and if he had children and how many (if Pontius Pilate is really a descendent then that implies it, but that could easily be a folk legend). But the article seems strong enough and the hook interesting enough that I think it would get chosen. Rigadoun (talk) 15:37, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Thunder Road International Speed Bowl

I noticed your addition of the track to Ken Squier's article. If you're looking for something to do (ha ha!), the article could use expansion with the history of the track including start year, list of divisions (with pictures is better), and a list of track champions. Wel, none of them seem to have a source, so the license can't be checked on them. Copyrights

Ben, images may be public on Flickr, that doesn't mean they are in the "public domain", it means that the owner has no restrictions on who can view them. If you want to find images on flickr that can be used on wikipedia you need to do an advanced search for images that are creative commons licensed that can be used both commercially and modified; if you can find images that meet these by all means upload them to the commons, there is a special tool there to help people corretly attribute images from flickr. --Peta 00:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes I have a lot of pictures of Rome, but mainly the typical places, so I thing that almost every article exists in English Wikipedia... Photos without article...maibe the "Vatican Carriage Museum" (part of the Vatican Museums)...I have some photos inside and outside the museum. I have a phtograph of a flag of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre in a palace in Via della Conziliazione... I don't know if this is the Headquarters of the order in Rome, but there is nothing about this palace in Wikipedia. I have photos of the "Domus augustana" in the Palatine Hill. And I also have a bit blurry photograph of a Ferrari in "Via Vittorio Veneto", that's the most luxurious street in Rome. BMRBarre: thanks for the excellent article on the Maine Diner. Soky Toton was my uncle, I worked in the Maine Diner for a couple of years when I was in High School for him and Margueritte (Margaret). He was a most interesting person. At about the age of 12, he departed Albania with $7.00 in his pocket, leaving his only possession, a goat, behind. My mother was born in 1917, she and her mother (my grandmother) came down with the flu in 1918; with only my mother surviving at the age of 6 months (she's still alive, nearly 92 now). Soky, now a teenager, and his father (who never remarried), raised my mother and a sister. Soky and his father bought the City Hall Luncheonette in Boston. While in Boston, Soky, self-taught, became a member of the Boston Ethical Society and was a musician, playing violin in the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Opinion request

Hello colleague,

I am interested in the Middle Ages too.

I created Category:Medieval civilizations which is part of Category:Civilizations by time. The former is nominated for deletion and at the moment the vote is 2:0 in favor of deletion. I am used to deletions, but this time I am stunned. I do not believe there is no place for such a category. I believe that most people with interest in history would agree that civilizations existed in the Middle Ages. I ask people to contribute their opinion to the discussion.
