New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
- Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!
Outreach and Invitations:
- If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with:
{{subst:NPR invite}}
. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.
New Year New Page Review Drive
- A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Central Michigan Life
I saw you de-prodded Central Michigan Life. Could you also comment on the talk page? The thread "notable alumni" started about alumni of the publication, but then shifted to overall article notability.
While I did add several refs, they are all trivial mentions (school name on various award lists), with no in-depth coverage. I am not familiar enough with the awards mentioned and now sourced, but my feel from reading about them is that only one of them is potentially significant enough to establish notability - but even that one is debateable as the school was a finalist, not a winner of the award.
Your comments on the talk page related to the notability would be appreciated. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 15:33, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive
Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

George Bancroft
The image you are using is not a good one. It’s low resolution and nothing particually special. I feel the one I have submitted which has his face times four is a better representation of George. Parkerbros (talk) 02:13, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
- Parkerbros, regardless of your feelings, both of you should now proceed to the "discuss" phase of WP:BRD. Take it to the talk page. Come to a compromise. I'd hate to have to block either of you for edit warring. Primefac (talk) 02:15, 12 January 2018 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
- Primefac (talk · contribs) A block warning is a bit quick for a couple of reverts over a week. Have restored the image Parkerbros wanted at George Bancroft (actor) but think it may be a copyvio as it has a copyright from a movie magazine dated 1930, can you please advise whether that is public domain? Atlantic306 (talk) 13:02, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if it came across as a harsh warning, it was mostly just that I hate it when people can't stop reverting until one or both of them cross 3RR (even if it's a slow-burning edit war that takes multiple days). I didn't mean to imply that either of you were at that point right now.
- As for the image, it looks like it's in the public domain (see {{PD-US-not renewed}}) so it should be acceptable for Wikipedia. Primefac (talk) 15:04, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

I contest that this page should not be deleted because although it may sound promotional but the list of achievements of Manish Kumar are factual. "Promising drafts"
Hi, Atlantic306,
I've been running across drafts tagged as "promising" but so far, this is a tag that I've found that is only being used by you, at least in Spring 2020. I think it's great to delay deletion of a promising draft as long as these drafts are eventually reviewed by an editor and worked on. I hope that drafts in Category:Promising draft articles are reviewed by you or other editors and submitted to AfC when they are ready. Hopefully other editors working in the AfC area know about this category and regularly check out the drafts in it.
These tags won't delay deletion indefinitely, at least not for this admin. And I'm not sure other admins working with G13s will notice the tag, but let's hope they do and allow them to have 6 more months of time to be improved upon. Thanks for the work you do. Liz Read! Talk! 00:50, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for noting these tags. Some editors such as Kvng are nominating and improving some of them for review but some others need more work, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 19:04, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

British Army Structure In 2010
Hardly any of the archive sources directly point to 2010 and why is that year chosen? Army 2020 was created in 2013. Why is a massive orbat of circa 2010 - no reference provided by the blocked user who created the article - and when there are pages like Army 2020 and Future of the British Army which neatly show the changes needed. Most units in British Army Structure In 2010 weren't even actual units. I didn't see you help improve the article simply remove the PROD. Reply here please not on my talk page. BlueD954 (talk) 03:52, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Army_Structure_In_2010#References - Show me one of these 'references' given by blocked user User:J-Man11 that show the units listed were as of 2010 and why 2010 is significant to meet WP:GNG. Reply here, or on the article. BlueD954 (talk) 11:32, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- See WP:PROD a prod can be removed without giving a reason or editing the article. I gave a reason, if you disagree take it to WP:AFD. I did check and the Army 2020 article does not describe in detail the existing structure, if it did this article could be redirected to it. Finally as per WP:NEXIST the sources in the article are not the only sources to be considered, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 20:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- You gave the weakest case to remove a PROD before the dateline and made no reason to show why it is at 2010. Basically you have no argument in "the Army 2020 article does not describe in detail the existing structure, if it did this article could be redirected to it" by making no effort to improve the page. I see all you work on is Indian and Paki stuff. BlueD954 (talk) 01:41, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Ryan Avery
Hi Atlantic306 I would like to ask for your help in creating an article for Ryan Avery. I understand I made a couple of mistakes before and would like to make it right this time. Is it okay if I create a draft article in the articles for creation and get your inputs in the article from there? I ask you here first so I know if I am making the right move and would not be banned if I try to recreate the article again. Let me know and I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Naeun's page
"Reverted to revision 986708932 by Abdotorg (talk): Needs a reference" - whoever you are
Then explain why most of the other Kpop idols' articles say that they're mononymously known by just their given names, including her own bandmates. That being said, reference to what? Naeun is just her name, and if someone is just known by a single name that is simply their given name, we wouldn't even need a reference to anything. 2600:1700:BAD0:23C0:81:F27D:9ADB:24BD (talk) 01:25, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- If you look through the references they all refer to her full name and that is what we go by, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 01:31, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- So? What about the other members? 2600:1700:BAD0:23C0:81:F27D:9ADB:24BD (talk) 01:33, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- If they are not referred to mononumously in reliable sources then they should be changed as well, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 01:34, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Then how is Jisoo of Blackpink mononymously referred to as just Jisoo? 2600:1700:BAD0:23C0:81:F27D:9ADB:24BD (talk) 01:37, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Because a number of the references refer to her by Jisoo instead of her full name. Atlantic306 (talk) 01:41, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- I still don't get what you meant by "stable". At least my edits weren't vandalism, so why do you keep putting my edits on the same level as vandal ones? 2600:1700:BAD0:23C0:81:F27D:9ADB:24BD (talk) 01:43, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- It doesn't even matter what the so-called "references" say, at least "better known mononymously as Naeun" is still a harmless edit nonetheless, especially most of us (as in fans) just call her Naeun anyways. 2600:1700:BAD0:23C0:81:F27D:9ADB:24BD (talk) 01:45, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Yuriy Reznikov
Hello! Thank you for your suggestions - I just had one question: are the requirements different for the biographies of a deceased person?
"The article Yuriy Reznikov has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article."
Unfortunately, Yuriy Reznikov is not alive. Thanks !

Schools and notability
Hi — you recently dePRODded Caribou High School, which you're perfectly entitled to do, of course. However, in your edit note you suggested that schools don't need to satisfy the notability requirements (if I understood correctly?). That's not what WP:NSCHOOL says, though: "All universities, colleges and schools [...] must satisfy either this guideline (WP:ORG) or the general notability guideline, or both." IMO, the article in question, as written, satisfies neither. Happy to be proven wrong, though, in case I've misinterpreted something. :) Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:01, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, @DoubleGrazing: the first paragraph of WP:NORG says "The scope of this guideline covers all groups of people organized together for a purpose with the exception of non-profit educational institutions, religions or sects, and sports teams" and that is the outcome of an RFC that I remember. Agree that they should pass WP:GNG and have amended the WP:NSCHOOL paragraph accordingly, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 22:21, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

What do you mean by "Third party" tag for a 1909 magazine? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:13, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Hi, it is a current magazine that started in 1909 and has an ongoing awards section and a current sister publication so independent sources should be available, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 23:26, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
