Draft:Pure Planet - Spam?

I am reviewing a sandbox draft by Laura Townson in User:Laura Townson/sandbox. I tried to move it to Draft:Pure Planet, but that title was salted by you about a year ago due to repeated creation. The history is that there has been repeated submission on this company going back to 2011 by Libertyk and Tomtr2. It isn't possible to determine whether these editors are the same person or different people all being paid by the same company or the same flack. It probably doesn't matter. Hello, I see you deleted the page on Google Chat that I split from the Google Hangouts page. This page was a stand-alone page in the past, and since Hangouts is headed toward retirement, I feel that it makes sense for this to be an article again. I didn't write the content, but only split it from the Hangouts page. The content has issues, and it is my hope that by being a stand-alone article Wikipedia editors will be inspired to improve on it. This will have to become its own article in time, so I think it's a good idea to put it out there now for others to work on. It might be a good idea to mark it as a stub and give it time. If it doesn't grow, perhaps then move it back to a section of the Hangouts article. Thoughts?SBCornelius (talk) 12:14, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

The page is a account of Ashu Khannas life written by me. She is a motivational speaker and a leadership coach. She has trained many leaders in India and has had a very positive impact on their professional career. Wikipedia is a source of gaining info and acts like a true encyclopedia. I feel that Ashu Khannas info shall be sought by many ppl and hence the page should not have been deleted. If there is some change in content that needs to be done then pls do let me know. The message which User:Viewmont Viking posted on your own talk page at 13:09, 26 May 2020 (UTC) included a link to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G11. Unambiguous advertising or promotion.

It is a clear and brief explanation which itself includes, for further elucidation, a link to the Wikipedia content guideline on spam.

One of the specifications there, at Wikipedia:Spam#Advertisements masquerading as articles, describes pages like yours:

" public relations pieces designed to promote a[n] ... individual " [emphasis added].

Hi Athaenara. Would you undo your speedy deletion of Skyhorse Publishing? I reviewed the 9 October 2010 version of the article from the Internet Archive and did not find it to be promotional. The 27 April 2020 version of the article from the Internet Archive seems to be neutrally written in general. I do not think WP:G11 applies to either of these versions. @Cunard: That version was a brief description with zero references and an external link to the company's website and hadn't much to recommend it. I think it would be better to take a fresh approach and ask the questions which should be asked: was the company ever notable, is it notable now, can reliable sources be found which demonstrate either of those things, and does it merit an encyclopedia article here. – Athaenara ✉ 14:44, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

@Spacegeek31: It would not be appropriate to do so. The page was pure spam (see WP:SPAM, if you like, for a refresher on what that means) with no independent reliable sources at all. • @Aburgers333: The most immediately obvious problem is that the page you wrote cited no independent reliable sources and, even worse, listed linkedin, soundcloud, youtube, imdb, and channelstore.roku links obviously intended to promote your client and his wares. The creation of User:2dmaxo/Adaku Utah is in line with the competition call to create biographical articles for some selected persons (selection not made by my person) by editors outside the USA I entered for. It is called September BLT Writing Contest and would end by September 30. By your administrative action (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion), the article page was still under creation and undergoing edits and your decision may hamper my efforts to stand a chance to win the competition as I had created Sam Nhlengethwa already and working on the User:2dmaxo/Adaku Utah draft page. @2dmaxo: It looks like WP:SPAM to me that, as such, should not be in Wikipedia article space (my opinion, you may wish to seek others). @Alex1343653: That page you wrote was mostly a lengthy series of descriptions of functions such as one might reasonably expect to find on the product's own website, not in an encyclopedia article. However the artiste in question is Ramdas Padhye who is an internationally renowned person and wiki article about him will be an important source of information for all the people. This article has been deleted multiple times. So I request you to restore it and put in draft section so that experienced wiki users can rewrite the article keeping in mind wikipedia guidelines. I am unable to rewrite the article as I am not aware of wikipedia guidelines in respect of writing the article. • @Drm310: It is autobiographical résumé spam with fewer rough edges than in the earlier draft, which had things like "He received my Associate's Degree", "The main research in my M.Sc. studies", "He have several years of solid experience", and "He have strengthened his professional skills". As is quite normal for post-undergrads in engineering, he wrote a few papers (some published in journals, some presented at conferences) on his way to getting his masters degree.

I don't know whether he's angling for a place in a doctoral program or for a job, but that's not really our concern here: this is an encyclopedia, not a résumé listing or employment service. – Athaenara ✉ 22:00, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
