Help me! I want to create a page about Amiya Dev who is a famous professor of Comparative Literature and a renowned scholar and writer

edit

Please help me with... I have submitted the draft of my page named Amiya Dev. Wikipedia editors suggested me to improve it more. I kept on doing so but somehow it is not satisfying the necessary requirements. How can I improve more? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Amiya_Dev?markasread=189370608&markasreadwiki=enwikiDraft:Amiya Dev Adrija Bhattacharyya (talk) 20:36, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

You can start by removing the promotional, opinionated language from the first sentence. The lead should only say something like "Amiya Dev is a Bengali scholar, writer and critic". Things like "eminent" and "distinguished" are opinions unsuitable for an encyclopedia article. You should review the Wikipedia definition of a notable writer or a notable academic to see if this person meets the definition, then gather any independent reliable sources with significant coverage that you can find, and the draft should only summarize what those sources say. Please see Your First Article for more information. 331dot (talk) 20:44, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your reply. Dr. Dev was a Secretary-General of the Comparative Literature Association of India. He was also the Vice-President of International Comparative Literature Association. Other than that he has published several books and articles. Does it meet the requirements of a notable academic? Adrija Bhattacharyya (talk) 21:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Adrija. I see that your Amiya Dev article has now been created as a live page, but it doesn't look like the issues from the reviewed draft have been copied into the live page, nor do the issues seem to have been addressed. Did the Wikipedians who reviewed the draft, in particular Curb Safe Charmer, give the current version of the article their approval for publication? --Bob (talk) 19:27, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pranabendu Dasgupta moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Pranabendu Dasgupta, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. About Draft:Amiya Dev

edit

  Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Amiya Dev a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Amiya Dev. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Amiya Dev

edit

Hello. As you have moved your draft article into the main part of Wikipedia before it was ready, there are issues with it that you need to fix. Rather than trying to format it, please add inline references so that the reader can easily see where the information in the article was sourced from. See Help:Introduction_to_referencing_with_Wiki_Markup/2 for instructions and a video on how to do this. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 18:52, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Adrija Bhattacharyya. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Amiya Dev, you may have a conflict of interest (COI).   • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;

We are here to help

edit

Hello. The person you've written about looks like they should have an article about them in Wikipedia, but it needs to meet the rules we have about verifiability. Biographies of living people need to have references that make it clear to the reader where the information is sourced from. I have moved the article back to being a draft so you can improve on it there. When you think you've added the references correctly, please let me know and I will take a look. See Help:Referencing for beginners to get started. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:16, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
