The following is a list of properties often seen on the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Albert Square
editAlbert Square is the main setting of EastEnders. The square contains eight houses, ten flats, a bed and breakfast, a car dealership and a notable garden.
1 Albert Square
editFrom the origin of the show, number 1 was seen a three separate flats, with one of those flats housing a doctor's surgery. However, after over thirty years of on-screen service, the doctor's surgery was closed down. Following renovations to the property, Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood) bought it and moved in with his wife Kim Fox-Hubbard (Tameka Empson), daughter Pearl Fox-Hubbard (Arayah) and mother Claudette Hubbard (Ellen Thomas).[citation needed] Vincent disowned Claudette in March 2016 and she left the house.[citation needed]
1a Albert Square
edit1a Albert Square was the only doctor's surgery in Walford until its closure in 2016. The show's original general practitioner was Harold Legg (Leonard Fenton) and his backstory stated that he began the role in 1947. Legg remained the show's doctor until his retirement in February 1997.[1] David Samuels (Christopher Reich) worked alongside Legg between April 1988 and September 1989. Legg's successors included: off-screen character Dr Richard; Fred Fonseca (Jimi Mistry); Alex Harrison (Ian Shaw); Daniel Rodford (Howard Saddler); and Steven Khan (Hari Saijan).[1] Following his introduction to the show, Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) was the show's general practitioner between 2000 and 2003. Johnathon Leroy (Ivan Kaye) succeeded Trueman, with regular character Oliver Cousins (Tom Ellis) acting as the general practitioner for five months from January 2006. May Wright (Amanda Drew), Poppy Merritt (Amy Darcy) and Al Jenkins (Adam Croasdell) succeeded Cousins, appearing on the show between September 2006 and February 2010. Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) was introduced as the show's general practitoner in November 2010, but departed the series in December 2011.[1] No regular general practitioners have appeared on the show since Yusef's departure, but various guest characters have been featured. The surgery was closed in July 2015.[citation needed]
1b Albert Square
edit1b Albert Square originally homed Ethel Skinner (Gretchen Franklin), who lived here with her dog Willy. She moved into sheltered accommodation 1988, with Barry Clark (Gary Hailes) and Pat Evans (Pam St. Clement) occupying the flat for various periods. Harold Legg (Leonard Fenton) later began living in the flat with his nephew, David Samuels (Christopher Reich). Fred Fonseca (Jimi Mistry) and Mick McFarlane (Sylvester Williams) lived in the flat whilst Fonseca was the general practitioner in the surgery below the flat. The flat remained unoccupied until January 2006 when Oliver Cousins (Tom Ellis) moved in. He left the series in May and was replaced by May Wright (Amanda Drew) who moved into the flat with her husband Rob Minter (Stuart Laing).[2] They separated and May eventually left Walford.
May's successors, Poppy Merritt (Amy Darcy) and Al Jenkins (Adam Croasdell), lived in the flat while working in the surgery. Following Al's exit from the series, Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) occupied the flat with her baby, George. They left the flat in 2011 and were not replaced on-screen until May 2014 when Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) began occuping the flat. Cora lived in the flat for eleven months, during which her daughter Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) and grandchildren Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald and Dexter Hartman (Khali Best) joined for her during various periods. The flat was converted into a house in July 2015.[citation needed]
1c Albert Square
edit1c Albert Square was originally home to Lofty Holloway (Tom Watt), who was joined by Michelle (Susan Tully) and Vicki Fowler (Emma Terry) when he married the former. Lofty and Michelle divorced in 1987 and he left Walford in the following year.[3] The flat was not mentioned again until 2007 when Max Branning (Jake Wood) bought it for his son Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements), but he smashed up the flat when he discovered Max's affair with his wife. Sam Mitchell (Daniella Westbrook) was the next occupant of the flat, living here in January 2010 while hiding from the police. In 2015, it was revealed that Gavin Sullivan (Paul Nicholas) lived in this flat as child.[citation needed]
3 Albert Square
edit3 Albert Square was originally owned by Tony Carpenter (Oscar James), who converted the property into flats. Despite appearing as a single property in the spin-off series EastEnders: E20 in 2012, the property continued to appear as flats in the main show.
3a Albert Square
edit3a Albert Square was originally home to Kelvin Carpenter (Paul J. Medford) until his departure from the series in 1987.[citation needed] The flat was then occupied by Ian Beale and Tina Hopkins (Eleanor Rhodes) until they vacated and Simon Wicks (Nick Berry) and Magda Czajkowski (Kathryn Apanowicz) replaced them.[citation needed] When they separated, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) took over the lease and continued to live here until 1993.[citation needed]
The flat was not featured again until 2005 when friends Garry Hobbs (Ricky Groves) and Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi) began renting the flat. Naomi Julien (Petra Letang) lived with them from 2006 until her departure from the series.[citation needed] Garry, Minty and Naomi's various partners and friends lived with them at different periods of time. Garry's fiancée, Dawn Swann (Kara Tointon), and her daughter, Summer Swann (Rebecca and Isabella Hegarty), moved in to the flat in 2008. Garry, Dawn and Summer left the series in August 2009.[4] Darren Miller (Charlie G. Hawkins) and Manda Best (Josie Lawrence) began renting the flat with Minty following Garry's departure. Manda departed the series in February 2010 and Minty asked Darren to leave the flat in August 2010.[5] Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) and her son, George (Joshua Jacobs), joined Minty after being made homeless and Sam Mitchell (Daniella Westbrook) and her son, Richard, also moved in with them.[citation needed] Heather and George were evicted following Minty, Sam and Richard's departures from the series in September 2010.[6]
3b Albert Square
editTony Carpenter (Oscar James) lived in the middle flat, 3b Albert Square, with his wife Hannah (Sally Sagoe) and daughter Cassie (Delanie Forbes) from 1985-1987. His son Kelvin Carpenter (Paul J. Medford) also lived here, but after Tony's departure, he moved into the basement flat. Carmel Jackson (Judith Jacob) purchased the flat in 1987 and she was later joined by her brother, Darren Roberts (Gary McDonald) and his children Junior (Aaron Carrington) and Aisha (Aisha Jacob). In 1988, Darren is told to leave and he leaves the children with Carmel, who sends them to live with her and Darren's parents. Junior visits regularly, but he and Aisha move back permanently in 1989 after his grandfather has a stroke. In the same year, Carmel marries the abusive Matthew Jackson (Steven Hartley) and he moves in. However, when Junior discovers Matthew's abusive nature and sees him about to attack Carmel, he stabs him. This kills him and not long after, Carmel's father dies leading to Carmel, Junior and Aisha leaving.
Vince Johnson (Hepburn Graham) moved here in 1989 when Carmel left and in 1999, Dot Cotton (June Brown) lived in 3b with Lilly Mattock (Barbara Keogh). Beppe di Marco (Michael Greco) lived in flat 3b with his son Joe (Jake Kyprianou) when he came to Walford in 2000, and his ex-wife Sandra (Clare Wilkie) also lived with them for a while. Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) then lived in 3b with his ex-wife Sam (Kim Medcalf), who had briefly reunited with, and son Liam in 2002, but Gus Smith (Mohammed George) moved in when she moved out. Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) stayed as Ricky's guest. Dawn Swann (Kara Tointon) moved into 3b on 26 March 2007, and Rob Minter (Stuart Laing) moved in with her in April. Both moved out by June. Following a fire at their home, Kim (Tameka Empson) & Denise Fox (Diane Parish) move in here, but they shortly move out.

3c Albert Square
editColin Russell (Michael Cashman) originally lived in the top flat, 3c Albert Square, first with Barry Clark (Gary Hailes) then with Guido Smith (Nicholas Donovan).
Rod Norman (Christopher McHallem) squatted in 3c with his girlfriend Hazel after Colin left, in 1989. Colin then rented 3c to Ian, Cindy and Steven Beale (Adam Woodyatt, Michelle Collins and Edward Farrell) in 1990.
In 1996, David Wicks (Michael French) lived in 3c, and his son Joe (Paul Nicholls) lived with him briefly. In 1998, Josie McFarlane (Joan Hooley) moved into 3c with Kim McFarlane (Krystle Williams). Mick McFarlane (Sylvester Williams) came to live in 3c with his sister Kim in 2000 after Josie was deported.
When Adi (Ameet Chana), Ash (Raji James), Ronny (Ray Panthaki) and Kareena Ferreira (Pooja Shah) were forced to move out of their home at 55 Victoria Road, along with Tariq Larousi (Nabil Elouahabi), they moved into the middle and top flats, with Sasha Perkins (Jemma Walker). All left in 2005.
Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) moved into number 3c with her daughter, Lily (Aine Garvey) in May 2015. Martin Fowler (James Bye) joins them and he and Stacey later begin a relationship. Stacey's cousin Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and her family stay with Stacey, Martin and Lily over Christmas 2015, whilst Stacey gives birth to Arthur Fowler. The Moons left again in January 2016 and Stacey invited her half-brother, Kyle Slater (Riley Carter Millington), to move into the flat in April after discovering he was homeless. Stacey's cousin, Belinda Peacock (Carli Norris), began staying with The Fowlers in May, following her separation from her husband, whilst Andy Flynn (Jack Derges) briefly stayed here in May too.

5 Albert Square
editThe house was originally owned by Benny Bloom (Arnold Yarrow), who lived here with his wife Golda, in the backstory of the show. The house was derelict and was used as a squat by a number of homeless characters, including Rod Norman (Christopher McHallem), Donna Ludlow (Matilda Ziegler), Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton) and Aidan Brosnan (Sean Maguire).
Richard Cole (Ian Reddington) bought the property in 1993 and converted it into bedsits. During its time as flats/bedsits it was lived in by Ricky and Bianca Butcher (Sid Owen and Patsy Palmer), Liam Tyler (Francis Magee), Sanjay Kapoor (Deepak Verma), Della Alexander (Michelle Joseph) and Binnie Roberts (Sophie Langham). The house was later sold to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
It was then converted into a semi-detached property and Phil and his wife Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) lived here with their son Ben (Matthew Silver), until Kathy left Phil and took Ben with her to South Africa. Phil then shared the house with his girlfriend Lisa Shaw (Lucy Benjamin), and his godson Jamie (Jack Ryder) also lived here. Other guests to stay with Phil have included his mother, Peggy (Barbara Windsor), Dan Sullivan (Craig Fairbrass), Conor Flaherty (Seán Gleeson) and Harry Slater (Michael Elphick). Phil later moved to the Queen Vic with Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean), and Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) bought the house. He lived here alone, and later with his to-be-wife, Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite).
The house was then left empty until Den Watts' (Leslie Grantham) return from the 'dead'. He bought the house for his family, but when the family fell apart, Johnny Allen (Billy Murray) bought it. His daughter Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) and girlfriend Tina Stewart (Charlotte Avery) moved in soon after. Tina left Johnny, and Ruby moved in with her boyfriend Juley Smith (Joseph Kpobie), and then Ruby and Johnny left Walford to live in Essex. Johnny has since died in prison and Ruby moved into number 41 before leaving Walford for good.
The house, still owned by Ruby, was then left empty, until Max Branning (Jake Wood), his wife Tanya (Jo Joyner) and children Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) moved in in late June 2006. Max's son, Bradley (Charlie Clements) moved in with them, before moving out to live with his wife, Stacey (Lacey Turner). Max was then kicked out upon the revelation of his affair with Stacey, and, shortly after, Tanya's sister, Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) returned. Rainie was later asked to leave by Tanya as Max did not like the idea of an ex-drug addict living with his children and was going to use that against Tanya to gain custody of his kids. The house is now occupied by Tanya, Lauren, Abi and newly-born, Oscar (Gabriel Miller-Williams).
In July 2008, Max announced he'd bought the house from Ruby. However, days later, Max's brother Jack (Scott Maslen) announced that he had been in touch with Ruby and had beaten Max's bid for buying the house. In October 2008, Lauren run over Max and Tanya took the blame for her crime. Following Max's recovery, he had Jack kicked out of the house so he could look after Lauren, Abi and Oscar (now played by Charlee and Neo Hall), but when Tanya was released in January 2009, she kicked Max and Bradley, who had recently moved back in, out. Lauren had to live with social services after confessing to her crime. After being away for three months, Lauren was allowed to return home and Max moved back in, in July 2009. Tanya and her best friend, Jane Beale (Jo Joyner) decided to do a wife swap for a week and Jane came to stay with the Brannings. In December 2009, Tanya left Max after discovering that he lied about being in debt and she took Lauren and Oscar with her. Abi stayed with Max as she did not want to go, but at Christmas, Tanya returned to the house and Max tells Abi that she must go with her as there is no need for her to stay with him. This leaves Max living alone in the house. In early 2010, Abi unexpectedly turned up at the car lot, surprising Max, telling him that she hated living with Tanya and wanted to move back in.
Max's sister, Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) and her son Billie (Devon Anderson) move in several months later, as Carol had to help Max after the sudden death of Bradley. In spring 2010, Billie left to join the army and in July 2010, Abi convinced Max to let Darren Miller (Charlie G. Hawkins) move in following his eviction from his own flat. In August, Rainie returned for a visit - causing friction with Carol, as Rainie, in need of drugs, had stolen some of Carol's money. Ultimately, Max threw both Carol and Rainie out. Vanessa Gold (Zoe Lucker) moves in after her husband, Harry (Linal Haft) throws her out. However, when Vanessa's daughter Jodie (Kylie Babbington) tells her that the stress of visiting the place where Vanessa & Max are living is so much that she is going to break up with Darren, Vanessa returns to Harry. Lauren (now played by Jacqueline Jossa) returned early from America after dealing drugs, in August 2010. Vanessa & Max later reunited and Tanya returned with her new fiancée, Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth) in late 2010. In April 2011, Max began an affair with Tanya and this was exposed in August - leading to Max & Greg leaving the square and Vanessa moving out of number 5.
Tanya, Lauren, Abi, Oscar, Rainie and Tanya's mother, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell), moved into number 5 following Max's departure. Max returned in November and joined them, causing Cora to leave. Joey Branning (David Witts) stayed with the Brannings in autumn 2012 and Max was kicked out in December. Tanya, Oscar and Lauren left Walford in June 2013, leading to Max moving back in. Lauren returned in August, but Max was arrested for attempted murder in October so Cora joined the girls. Dexter Hartman (Khali Best) joined Cora, Lauren and Abi in December when his mum left Walford, but him and Cora are forced to leave when Max returned from prison. Lauren and Abi briefly moved out following a disagreement with Max. Stacey Branning, her daughter, Lily (Aine Garvey) and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) all stayed with Max briefly in September 2014. In November, Max's partner Emma Summerhayes (Anna Acton) moved in with him, Lauren and Abi, but was killed in January 2015.
Abi moved in with her partner and his family and Lauren moved to New Zealand with her partner in February, leaving Max alone. Max moved out in July, having faced eviction and the following month, bailiffs removed his belongings. In April 2016, Sharon Mitchell decided to buy 5 Albert Square in an auction, but was outbid by Jack Branning, who decided to turn the house into flats. A builder, Andy Flynn (Jack Derges), secertly squatted in the flat until Jack installed cameras in the flat.

Deals on Wheels
editDeals on Wheels (previously Frank's Autos, Pat Cars, Evans & Son, Janine Cars, Toucan Cars, Mitchell's Executive Motors, Branning & Son and Branning Brothers) is a used-car dealership that is located at 6 Albert Square. It was first owned by wheeler-dealer, Frank Butcher (Mike Reid) and his wife, Pat (Pam St. Clement) as Frank's Auto in 1989 after being closed for 6 years. Frank employed Christine Pretis (Vivien Heilbron) as the bookkeeper from 1989 until 1990, when she became too expensive. Frank becomes in financial ruins in December 1993, leading to him asking Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) (out of desperation) to set fire to the car lot so he can claim on his insurance, in March 1994. Phil goes through with this, but unknown to him and Frank, a homeless man is sleeping in one of the cars and burns to death. Frank is arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, but is later released due to lack of evidence. Frank tries covering his tracks by claiming his accounts have burnt but Pat gives the business's books to the investigating agent. The pressure becomes too much for Frank, who is suffering severe guilt over the death of the homeless man. He becomes so depressed and despondent, no one can get through to him. Unable to cope, Frank leaves Walford and his family without warning in April 1994, and does not contact them to say where he is. Pat renames the business Pat Cars, but struggles to run it alone.
David Wicks (Michael French) and Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) go into partnership and buy Pat Cars - renaming it Deals on Wheels. Frank later returns at Christmas in 1995, announcing he wants his business back, worrying David, however he contacts his lawyers and is relieved to discover Frank has no claim on the car lot. Ricky, however, gives his share of the business to Frank, but Frank leaves the square in March 1996. Roy Evans (Tony Caunter) later goes into business with David, following Frank's departure and his son, Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) helps out here. The car lot later is torched again in 1996 after Barry pays someone to torch it (unaware Frank had left the square already) and Phil is left trapped in the portacabin. Fortunately, Phil is not hurt, but Barry is later arrested for arson. David later leaves the square in November 1996.
The business is renamed again to Evans & Son when Barry takes over David's share of the car lot, much to his glee. Barry risks the business by handing his monetary assets over to con-woman Vanessa Carlton. Barry then loses his job at the car lot, after Vanessa runs away with everything Barry has given her. After the bailiffs arrive at the Evans household, Roy and his wife, Pat (Pam St Clement) ask Frank to be a silent partner in the business. Roy later dies of a heart attack in 2003 and Pat is given full control of the car lot, and she renames it Pat Cars. In July 2004, Pat begins renting to the Ferreira family and rename the car lot, Toucan Cars. They leave in March 2005 and in early 2006, Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels) takes over management of the car lot and Pat renames it Pat Cars. Kevin dies in January 2008 and Pat sells to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who was then blackmailed into selling by Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and she renamed it Janine Cars.
In 2008, Janine teams up with Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) and he tricks her into signing over the car lot and he renames it Mitchell's Executive Motors. Archie is murdered at Christmas 2009 and leaves the car lot to her daughter, Roxy (Rita Simons) in his will. Roxy rents the car lot to Max and Bradley Branning (Jake Wood and Charlie Clements), who rename it Branning & Son. Bradley dies in February 2010 and after a year of struggling, Max goes into a silent partnership with Jack, renaming it Branning Brothers. Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) begins cleaning cars for Max, as does Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in 2012, and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) in 2013. Joey Branning (David Witts) begins helping in 2013 as well. In October 2013, Jack leaves and Max employs David, who in January 2014, goes into partnership with Max and buys the free hold from Roxy, renaming it Deals on Wheels.
In May, David leaves and Max begins running the car lot alone. In June, Lauren begins working here as does Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) in August. Stacey quits in August and Lauren ceases working here shortly after. Charlie Cotton (Declan Bennett) begins working here in November as a trainee car salesman. Charlie is promoted to car salesman in January 2015, but takes leave, following the birth of his son. Max later enters a war with the Mitchell family by conning Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid) into signing over Mitchell's Autos. Charlie, being married into the Mitchell family, sides with the Mitchells and quits his job. Phil decides to act revenge and humiliates Max with the help of Karin Smart (Denise van Outen), while also getting him to sign back Mitchell's Autos and sign over the car lot. The car lot remains called Deals on Wheels and Charlie is hired by Phil as the manager. Phil's wife, Sharon (Letitia Dean) employs Fatboy to work here as the car lot manager, following Charlie's departure from Walford. Fatboy employs Lee Carter (Danny-Boy Hatchard) to work here as a car salesman.
Phil begins heavily drinking in late 2015, causing his businesses to slide. Fatboy continues to run the car lot until his death in December 2015. A drunk Phil sacks Lee the following month, leaving the business inoperable. Phil destroyed the car lot with a digger in March 2016, unknowingly putting the life of his daughter, Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) in danger.

18-20 Albert Square
edit18-20 Albert Square (formerly The Abercorn Bed and Breakfast and Kimberley's Palace B&B), started as a B&B located at 20 Albert Square, unattached to number 18, consisting of two doubles, three singles, dining room and lounge. It was managed by Madam Doris Bover (a character who was never seen) with the help of Marge Green (Pat Coombs), until it was bought by Pat and Frank Butcher (Pam St. Clement and Mike Reid) in 1989. They also bought the attached house, 18 Albert Square, for use as their residence, which was first occupied by Mrs Pollock. Frank's mother Mo Butcher (Edna Doré) and children Janine (Rebecca Michael), Ricky (Sid Owen) and Diane (Sophie Lawrence) lived here with them and Marge stayed on as their cleaner. Guests at the B&B included Simon Wicks (Nick Berry), Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), Mandy and Lorraine Salter (Nicola Stapleton and Linda Henry), Mark Fowler (Todd Carty), Sam Mitchell (Danniella Westbrook), Joe Wallace (Jason Rush) and Disa O'Brien (Jan Graveson). Both properties were sold to Charles Raymond (Tim Stern) in 1992.
Vicar Alex Healy (Richard Driscoll) converted the B&B to a shelter for the homeless for a while, and later it was restored to a B&B by Audrey Trueman (Corinne Skinner-Carter) and her son Anthony (Nicholas Bailey). When Audrey died, it was run by her ex-husband Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and other son Paul (Gary Beadle). Guests at the B&B during this time included: Trevor and Little Mo Morgan (Alex Ferns and Kacey Ainsworth), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Wilfred Atkins (Dudley Sutton), Frank's daughter Janine, Precious Hudson (Judi Shekoni), previous owner and new staff member Pat, Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), Barry and Natalie Evans (Shaun Williamson and Lucy Speed), and JJ. Billy Mitchell and Honey Edwards (Perry Fenwick and Emma Barton) stayed here briefly until they found a place of their own, in 2006. Patrick's wife Yolande (Angela Wynter) then moved in, but it is no longer run as a B&B. Aubrey Valentine (Joseph Marcell) stayed with them briefly in 2006 and attempted to seduce Yolande. Bert Atkinson (Dave Hill) stayed there for several weeks with his grandson Jay.
Denise Wicks (Diane Parish) and her daughters Chelsea and Libby Fox (Tiana Benjamin and Belinda Owusu) also moved in, after Patrick and Denise became close. Darren Miller (Charlie G. Hawkins) also moved here after the fire at his family's house. Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet) moved in with his son, Jordan (Michael-Joel David Stuart) to be with Denise as they had reunited. In June 2009, Chelsea ran away, but returned the following month and Jordan went to live with his mother, Trina (Sharon Duncan Brewster). However, in September 2009, during an argument with Lucas, she was impaled on a rake and died, meaning Jordan came to live here full time. Libby began attending Oxford University, but returned home for visits. Libby's father Owen Turner (Lee Ross) returned, but Lucas strangled Owen to his death and buried him under Trina's memorial tree. When Owen's body was discovered, Denise became a prime suspect and Lucas subdued her before keeping her prisoner in the basement of number 18. Lucas then led Denise's loved ones to believe she had committed suicide. However, Denise managed to escape and returned home, with Lucas shortly behind. The police soon arrest Lucas for the murders of Trina, Owen, a woman called Gemma and the holding of Denise. He is later charged with life imprisonment and this causes too much pressure for Chelsea who decides to live in Spain with Libby's grandmother, Liz Turner (Kate Williams). Wanting Libby to also have a fresh start, Denise encourages her to go on holiday with Liz & Chelsea and go live in Oxford upon her return.
Following the departures of Chelsea, Libby, Liz and Lucas, the only people left in number 20 was Denise, Patrick and Jordan. They were joined by Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), but Jordan decides to live with his aunt Gloria. In 2011, Kim purchased number 20 and re-opened number 18-20 as a bed & breakfast called Kimberley's Palace, with new GP Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) as their first guest. Yusef moved out and in with his new partner, Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia) and their family at 41 Albert Square. Shortly after, Zainab's ex-husband, Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) moves in after Denise offers him a room and at Christmas 2011, Yusef sets alight to the B&B in a bid to kill Masood, leaving Kim, Denise and Patrick homeless. However, Kim renovated the B&B in July 2012 and opened it, under the name of Kimberley's Olympic Palace to coincide with the 2012 London Olympics. Unfortunately, Kim is told by officials that she isn't allowed to call her B&B this, so she calls it Kimberley's Palace instead. Since the refurbishment, guests at the B&B have included: Sharon and Dennis Rickman Jr (Letitia Dean and Harry Hickles) on and off; Kim's boyfriend, Ray Dixon (Chucky Venn); newly-reunited couple, Max and Kirsty Branning (Jake Wood and Kierston Wareing); new market inspector, Aleks Shirov (Kristian Kiehling); and more. In late 2013, Denise went to live with her partner, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) at his house. Kim left for a cruise with a mystery man in January 2014, leaving Patrick to try and run the B&B. The stress becomes too much for Patrick and kicks all his guests out in February. He then invites his friend, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) and her grandson, Dexter Hartman (Khali Best) to live with him, after they were kicked out of 5 Albert Square. But, when Cora insults the recently-deceased, Nick Cotton (John Altman) in front of his mother, Dot Branning (June Brown), Patrick throws the pair out.
Patrick suffered a stroke in July 2014 and when he was released from hospital, he was under Denise's care - meaning he has to move in with her and Ian. However, when Denise discovers that Ian has slept with prostitute, Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks), her and Patrick move back to number 18 and 20. Once arriving at the house, they discover they've had a break-in, but Denise's friend and stepson, Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) and Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) help clean up. In December 2014, Dean is kicked out of his flat that he shared with Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) after she discovers he raped Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and his mother, Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) soon joins him. Kim also returns in December, 5 months pregnant and separated from her husband, moving back in. In February 2015, Kim gives birth to baby Pearl, two months early, and Dean goes missing after a fight with his brother, Mick (Danny Dyer).
In April 2015, Dean returns, but is instantly arrested. His father, Buster Briggs (Karl Howman) moved into number 18-20 as did Dean upon his release. Shirley's sister Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) stayed here briefly. Kim's husband Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood) joined Kim and Pearl, causing Patrick to briefly move out. Denise kicked out Shirley, Buster and Dean in August. Kim, Vincent and Pearl moved out in October. The house was split again in December when Kim sold her half of the house. Denise's step-son Jordon (now played by Joivan Wade) and his son JJ (Zayden Kareem) joined her and Patrick in Feburary 2016. Jordon was arrested the following month, which resulted in JJ returning to his mother in April.

23 Albert Square
edit23 Albert Square ("Ventnor") is where Reg Cox (Johnnie Clayton) was found dead in the first episode of EastEnders. It was originally two separate flats, until 2000 when it was converted to a house as the new Slater family moved in. The original Slaters living here were loudmouth grandmother Mo Harris (Laila Morse), easy-going father Charlie Slater (Derek Martin), his daughters: feisty Lynne (Elaine Lordan); floozy Kat (Jessie Wallace); timid Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth); and bolshy Zoe (Michelle Ryan), and Lynne's partner Garry Hobbs (Ricky Groves). Various members of the family have lived here during different times. Non-original Slaters to have lived in number 23 included: Little Mo's husband Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick); Charlie's daughter Belinda Peacock (Leanne Lakey); Charlie's bleak sister-in-law, Jean (Gillian Wright); and her two children, Sean and Stacey (Robert Kazinsky and Lacey Turner). Various house guests have joined the family over their tenure in the house. Little Mo was being abused by her husband, Trevor Morgan (Alex Ferns) which led to him starting a house fire whilst Little Mo, Trevor and his son Sean were inside. Little Mo and Sean were saved, but as fireman Tom Banks (Colm Ó Maonlaí) tried to save Trevor, the house exploded.
By May 2008, the residents of number 23 were Charlie, Mo, Jean, Stacey and Sean. Sean's girlfriend, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) moved in with the Slaters during summer 2008 until they found a home of their own. In August, Danielle Jones (Lauren Crace) moved in and in January 2009, Jean left to live elsewhere due to her bi-polar, and Sean left Walford. In March, Jean returned to living here and the following month, Danielle was run down and killed by Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), leaving the Slaters - especially Stacey - devastated. The death of Danielle and exit of Sean made Stacey have erratic behaviour, before being diagnosed bi-polar. In August 2009, Charlie briefly moves to Medeira with his girlfriend Brenda Boyle (Carmel Cryan) but returns within a few days. When Charlie returns he brings back a new Russian friend named Orlenda (Mary Tamm), she stayed there for a few days but left when Charlie realised she was using him for his money. In October, Jean had Stacey sectioned and she returned in December, pregnant. Stacey's ex-husband, who she has reunited with, Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements), moves into number 23. Stacey's friend Becca Swanson (Simone James) moves in as well and in February, Becca informs the police Bradley had killed Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb), leading to his death and Stacey's devastation.
In June 2010, Stacey gives birth to a daughter, Lily and struggles raising her. After months of controlling Stacey, Becca is kicked out of her life and the house, but not before throwing Bradley's ashes against the wall. In September, Kat returns with her husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and they briefly stay there until they rent The Queen Victoria from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). At Christmas 2010, Stacey is framed by Janine for stabbing her, causing her to leave the square with Lily. Charlie also departs the square in early 2011, while Jean is sectioned. This leaves Mo as the only resident, which makes Kat invite Mo to live with her, Alfie and her baby Tommy (Ralph and Shane) and when Jean returns, she moves into The Vic. Upon the arrival of Eddie, Anthony and Tyler Moon (David Essex, Matt Lapinskas and Tony Discipline), Mo rents the house to them. Eddie leaves in October 2011, whilst Anthony leaves in August 2012 and Tyler also moves out. Roxy and Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) rent the house from Mo from September 2012, living here with Roxy's daughter, Amy Mitchell (Amelie Conway). This arrangement continues until Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) gets them evicted so her and his daughter, Alice (Jasmyn Banks) can move in. When the affair between Derek and Kat is revealed, she moves in here with Tommy, but the following day, Derek dies.
Following Derek's death, Joey Branning (David Witts) moves in to support Alice and in April 2013, Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) joins them. Michael is murdered in October and by December 2013, Alice and Joey have left the square, whilst Kat has reunited with Alfie. However, as they have been kicked out of The Vic, Alfie moves into number 23 with Kat and Tommy. In February 2014, Stacey and Lily return to Walford, briefly staying with the Moons. Stacey confesses to Archie's murder and Lily goes to live with Jean in Brighton, leaving Kat, Alfie and Tommy again. Jean makes a visit, with Lily, in August, but after realising her mental state, leaves Lily in Kat & Alfie's care. Kat gives birth to twins Bert and Ernie Moon (Freddie and Stanley Beale) and shortly after, Stacey is given appeal and returns to number 23. Alfie, who is going through financial ruin, sets number 23 alight, unaware that Kat is inside and that Mo has left her supply of hairspray inside. This causes an explosion. Once realising that Kat is inside, Alfie rushes inside and is shortly followed by Peter Beale (Ben Hardy) and Johnny Carter (Sam Strike). All three receive burns to their hands, while Kat receives more severe scaring throughout her body. Everything is lost in the fire, except a picture of Nana Moon (Hilda Braid) which Alfie hid and until the results are given, Mo believes she was responible. The family find alternative accommodation.
In January 2015, bad boy Nick Cotton (John Altman) was ejected from his home at number 25 by mother, Dot (June Brown) and son, Charlie (Declan Bennett). Having nowhere else to go, Nick squats in the derelict and burnt number 23. Dot secretly is aware of Nick's presence in number 23 and begins regularly bringing him food, behind Charlie's back. The kindness made by Dot, streched so far that she bought Nick dodgy heroin, which he took. Dot decided against calling an ambulance and Nick died in Dot's arms. Nearly a week later, Martin Fowler, Kush Kazemi (James Bye and Davood Ghadami) and Stacey discovers Nick's corpse in the living room of number 23, in the same spot Reg Cox was found thirty years previously. In May, it was shown on-screen that building work had commenced on number 23 and in July, it began a process that saw it turn into new luxury flats by a local property developer. By the end of July, it was shown that number 23 had completed refurbishment and new residents had moved in.

23a Albert Square
edit23a Albert Square is the ground floor flat to number 23 and was originally home to Reg Cox (Johnnie Clayton), who was found dead in the first episode of EastEnders. Following Reg's death, Mary Smith (Linda Davidson) and her baby, Annie (Zara Posener and Jenna Alembick until 1986, Samantha Crown until 1988) occupy the flat. In 1986, Rod Norman (Christopher McHallem) came to live with Mary, and her father Chris (Allan O'Keefe) also lived with her for a while. Following Mary's departure in 1988, Mo Butcher (Edna Doré) lived in the lower flat, taking Trevor Short (Phil McDermott). The Butcher family dog, Roly came to stay with Mo breifly. When Mo left Walford in 1990, Disa O'Brien stayed in the flat with her daughter, Jasmine. Newlyweds, Ricky and Sam Butcher (Sid Owen and Daniella Westbrook) squatted here when Disa stopped living here. They were evicted in 1992, by the council. The flats were turned into one house in 2000.
In July, number 23 was turned into new luxury flats, which became available for living in August 2015.

23b Albert Square
edit23b Albert Square is the upper floor flat to number 23 and was originally home to Ali and Sue Osman (Nejdet Salih and Sandy Ratcliff) and their baby Hassan (Michael Evangelou). Ali and Sue moved out in 1986 and Dot Cotton (June Brown) took over residence. She later swapped houses with her neighbour, Tom Clements (Donald Tandy). Mark and Gill Fowler (Todd Carty and Susanna Dawson) squatted in number 23b in 1991 and when Gill died, Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton) joined Mark. They were evicted by the council in 1992. The flats were turned into a house in 2000.
In July 2015, number 23 was turned into new luxury flats. Shirley Carter, Buster Briggs and Dean Wicks (Linda Henry, Karl Howman and Matt Di Angelo) began renting number 23b. Dean's girlfriend Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and her daughter Amy (Abbie Knowles) joined them. In December 2015, Dean's daughter, Jade Green (Amaya Edwards) moved in with them and Amy left to live with her dad in Paris. Dean attempted to rape Roxy, causing both of them to leave Walford and in February 2016, Jade left to live with his mother. Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) stayed with Shirley and Buster briefly in March.

25 Albert Square
edit25 Albert Square was originally Tom Clements' (Donald Tandy) house, until he swapped with Dot Cotton (June Brown). She lived here until she left the Square in 1993. During her residency in number 25, Dot stayed with her husband, Charlie (Christopher Hancock), son Nick (John Altman) and friend, Ethel Skinner (Gretchen Franklin). During her time here she had numerous guests, including Rod Norman (Christopher McHallem), Marge Green (Pat Coombs), Hazel, Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) and Donna Ludlow (Matilda Ziegler), the latter who died in the living room. The Jackson/Branning family, moved in after Dot in 1994. They consisted of head, Carol Branning (Lindsey Coulson), her partner, Alan Jackson (Howard Antony), Alan's grandmother, Blossom Jackson (Mona Hammond), and Carol's children, who Alan treated like his own: gobby Bianca (Patsy Palmer); troublesome Robbie (Dean Gaffney); trumpet-playing Sonia (Natalie Cassidy); and angelic Billy (Devon Anderson). Billie is the only one of Carol's children whom Alan fathered. The family remained here until 1997 when they were placed in a witness protection programme. Carol's sister, April (Debbie Arnold) stayed with the family from 1995 until 1996.
In 1999, they were allowed to return to the property, but only Sonia and Robbie return to the property. Carol's father, Jim Branning (John Bardon) arrives in the same year and becomes the main tenant of the house. When Jim marries Dot in 2002, she is invited to live here with him, Sonia and Robbie. Robbie leaves for Mumbai in 2003, with his new partner and stepson, while Sonia moves into the Fowler household in 2004. Jim and Dot begin owning the property when Johnny Allen (Billy Murray) purchased it from the council in 2005. Jim's grandson, Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) moves in with Dot and Jim in 2006. Jim has a stroke in August 2007 and is moved to a nursing home. Clare Bates (Gemma Bissix) moves in briefly in 2008 and Jim returns home in late 2008. At Christmas 2008, Nick returns with his daughter, Dotty Cotton (Molly Conlin) so Bradley leaves. Nick leaves in June 2009, leaving Dot to look after Dotty. Jim's son, Max (Jake Wood) briefly stayed here, following Nick's departure and Bradley moved back in permanently. Jim's carer, Liz Turner (Kate Williams) stayed from August 2009, following Jim's return to number 25. Dot and Dotty went to look after Nigel following his heartattack from October until December 2009. When they return, Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) briefly stays, following her eviction from her home.
February 2010 proved a hard month for Dot as Bradley fell from the roof of The Queen Victoria and died, while Dotty went to live with her presumed-dead mother, Sandy (Caroline Pegg), leaving just Dot, Jim and Liz. However, Liz left Walford in August, after a traumatic few months. Dot begins to struggle with looking after Jim alone and finally allows him to move into a care home, in May 2011. Dot formed an unlikely friendship with youthful Fatboy Chubb (Ricky Norwood), following Jim's departure and allowed him to move in. With Fatboy's help, Dot decided to find her half-sister, Rose (Polly Perkins) and once she found Rose, Dot let her move in to number 25, with her son Andrew (Ricky Grover). In February 2012, Fatboy and Andrew moved out and Dot & Rose's friend, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) joined them in number 25. Following the death of her close friend and Andrew's fiancée Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison), Dot decides to live with Dotty and Sandy and Rose shortly follows her. Cora remains the only resident following Rose's departure until Poppy Meadow (Rachel Bright) moved in with her. When Dot returned in January 2013, she kicked out Cora and allowed Poppy to continue living here after seeing how lovely she is. Fatboy began living here again in December 2013 and the following month, Poppy left the square. In March 2014, Dot's grandson Charlie Cotton (Declan Bennett) arrived to inform Dot of Nick's death and stayed here frequently, before moving in permanently.
October 2014 saw Yvonne Cotton (Pauline McLynn) and Nick begin living at number 23, but this meant that Fatboy had to leave, upsetting him and Dot. Charlie asks Nick and Yvonne to leave Walford in January 2015 and shortly after, Charlie's newborn son, Matthew Mitchell-Cotton is brought home. Following this, Fatboy returns living at number 23. Dot is arrested in February for the murder of Nick, whilst Charlie and Matthew move out. Fatboy lives here alone, until Dot's release in September, aside from Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) briefly staying here. Cora briefly stayed here after Dot discovered she was homeless and Charlie stayed here, before leaving Walford. Fatboy was murdered in December and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) stayed with Dot whilst he visited his daughter over Christmas. Jack returned in March and stayed with Dot until he moved in with Ronnie. Jack's niece, Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) moved in with Dot in April. Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) and Lauren's son Louie moved in when they returned to Walford in May. Ian, Kathy and Bobby Beale (Adam Woodyatt, Gillian Taylforth and Elliot Carrington) stayed at number 25 briefly in May. Lauren, Steven and Louie moved out in July.

27 Albert Square
edit27 Albert Square was first the home to the Tavernier family. They lived here from 1990 until 1994, with Gidea Thompson (Sian Martin) living here for a while too. Local businessman, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) bought the property, along with number 29, knocking through the houses to make one large house. However, in 2000, the house was repossessed after Ian went bankrupt, with the council regaining ownership. The council chose to revert the houses into two. In September 2004, the newly-arrived Miller family moved in. The family consists of: good natured dad Keith (David Spinx); strong matriarch Rosie (Gerry Cowper); happy-go-lucky Mickey (Joe Swash); and twins Darren and Demi (Charlie G. Hawkins and Shana Swash). Demi gave birth to a baby girl, Aleesha (Freya and Phoebe Coltman-West) in October and she also lived here.
Rosie's daughter, Dawn Swann (Kara Tointon), joined the family at number 27 a year later, with her father Mike (Mark Wingett) staying with the family for a brief while. Keith had temporarily moved out on a few occasions. Rosie, Demi and Aleesha left Walford in July 2006 and Dawn moved out of number 27, but for a small time was living with her boyfriend, Rob Minter ([[Stuart Laing) here. In April 2008, Zainab, Shabnam and Tamwar Masood (Nina Wadia, Zahra Ahmadi and Himesh Patel) stayed here and following this, Jase Dyer (Stephen Lord) and his son, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) moved in. In June 2008, 'Mad' May Wright (Amanda Drew) caused an massive house explosion at number 27 after lighting a cigarette with the gas cooker on. May was killed in the explosion and the council were refurbishing the house for a few months afterwards.
Suzy Branning (Maggie O'Neill) bought the house in September 2008 and she moved in, along with her brother Max (Jake Wood). Suzy's boyfriend Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and his son, Ben (Charlie Jones) moved in with Suzy and Max. By Christmas 2008, Suzy's scheming was discovered by Phil and she left Walford. Max invited his son, Bradley (Charlie Clements) to live at number 27 in 2009, whilst Phil and Ben moved out. In June 2009, Bradley and Max were evicted from the house when the landlord sold the property onto a company in Romford. The following month, Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) returns to Walford, moving into the property with his daughter Roxy (Rita Simons) and granddaughter Amy Mitchell (Kamil & Natalia Lipka-Kozanka). In August, Roxy and Amy move out and in late 2009, Archie invites Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), his foster child Jay, and his children Janet and William (Grace and Toby Walpole) to live with him. When Archie proposes to Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), she moves in, but they move out at Christmas.
On Christmas Day, Archie is murdered by Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) and he gives the house and The Vic to Roxy in his will. She chooses to live in The Vic, but later moves into number 27 with Amy, her sister Ronnie (Samantha Womack), her aunt Peggy (Barbara Windsor) and her mother Glenda (Glynis Barber). When they move out, Roxy rents the house to Billy and Jay and this continues until 2010, when Phil kicks them out because he is in need of a home. Phil, his partner Shirley Carter, Ben, his daughter Louise (Brittany Papple) move in along with Shirley's niece Zsa Zsa (Emer Kenny), Shirley's best friend Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) and her son George (Joshua Jacobs). Heather and George leave shortly after Phil informs them there is no room for them. Ben is sentenced to juvenile facility in July 2010 for his attack on Jordan Johnson (Michael-Joel David Stuart) and Phil discovers Louise's mother Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) is wanting custody of Louise, leading him to kick out Shirley and Zsa Zsa. Peggy later takes Louise and gives her to her mother, leading Phil devastated and alone. Phil turns back to his alcoholism and drug addict, beginning a relationship with fellow drug addict, Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks). Shirley later takes charge of Phil's life, kicking out Rainie and moving back in with Billy and Jay. Roxy and Amy move in when Phil, Shirley, Jay and Billy move out. They move out in January 2011.
Tanya Cross (Jo Joyner) and her fiancée Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth) bought the house from Roxy, moving in, with Tanya's children: Lauren, Abi and Oscar (Jacqueline Jossa, Lorna Fitzgerald and Charlee and Neo Hall), in February 2011. Tanya's former drug addict sister, Rainie and their mother, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) stay with them in April as Tanya & Greg get married. Rainie stays in the square, but Cora leaves again until July, when she moves to Walford. After the wedding, Tanya began an affair with her ex-husband, Max Branning (Jake Wood), which was exposed in August. Greg leaves Walford, selling the house to Janine, without Tanya's knowledge, before he departs. Janine moves in immediately and is joined by her fiancée, Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd). Janine gives birth to her and Michael's daughter, Scarlett (Amelie) in June 2012. When Janine becomes overwhelmed by motherhood, she leaves Michael and Scarlett in September. Michael invites Roxy and Amy to live with him and Scarlett so that Roxy can assist Michael with the care of Scarlett. However, in January 2013, Roxy moves into the Vic with her new boyfriend Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Michael's brother, Tyler (Tony Discipline) then moves in, following a split from his girlfriend, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).
Janine returned to the square in April 2013 to claim custody of her daughter. She moved back into number 27, kicking out Michael and Tyler in the process. After months of a severe custody battle, Michael is murdered by Janine in the kitchen of number 27. Janine's stepbrother, David Wicks (Michael French) moves in with Janine and Scarlett in December so he can find out more information on Michael's murder. Janine is arrested for the murder on Christmas Day and Scarlett goes to live with her aunt Diane Butcher (Sophie Lawrence) in France. Janine is found non-guilty for Michael's murder in March 2014 and sells her home, before fleeing to France. Ronnie buys the property from Janine in April as a gift for Roxy and to celebrate they host a house warming party. After, Ronnie, Roxy and Amy (now played by Abbie Knowles) move in, but Ronnie went to stay with Peggy in June 2014. She returned in September, heaving pregnant. The following month, Roxy's boyfriend Aleks Shirovs (Kristian Kiehling) and his daughter Ineta (Gledisa Osmani) move in, while Ronnie's fiancée Charlie Cotton (Declan Bennett) begins regularly staying here.
Ronnie gave birth on New Year's Day 2015 to Matthew Mitchell-Cotton and Aleks leaves Walford, with Ineta, in April. Charlie, Roxy and Amy move out in September, following the breakdown of their respective relationships with Ronnie. In November, Ronnie invited Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) and her children, Janet and Will Mitchell to live with her and Matthew following their return. Phil Mitchell briefly stayed with Ronnie and Honey, until they kicked him out. Honey, Janet and Will moved out to live with Billy Mitchell, but Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) and Dennis Rickman Jnr (Bleu Landau) joined Ronnie after leaving their family home. Peggy Mitchell stayed with Ronnie briefly in May. Ronnie's ex-husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Amy began living with Ronnie in May, whilst Sharon and Dennis moved out. Roxy, Andy Flynn (Jack Derges) and Ricky Mitchell (Henri Charles) moved in throughout June.

29a Albert Square
edit29a Albert Square was first occupied, since becoming flats, by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) upon his arrival in October 2007. Jack's brother, Max (Jake Wood), moved in with him in December 2008 for three months, following the revelation that Max had an affair with Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner), his daughter-in-law. Max later returned to living with Jack, following his secret debt issues being exposed, but moved back out when he discovered that Jack and his on-off wife, Tanya (Jo Joyner)'s affair. Jack later bought number 5 from Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), and he moved in there with Tanya and her kids. In July 2008, Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) began to show interest in renting the flat from Jack, but this never happened.
Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Janus) later began renting the flat from Jack, but moved out after deciding to buy a flat. Jack returned to living in the flat by January 2009 and in May 2009, Jack confesses his love for Ronnie, so she moves in to the flat, but later moves out after deciding to stick with her sister, Roxy (Rita Simons). In 2010, Jack is hospitalised following being shot. Ronnie moves back in while Jack is in hospital but later once again, returns to the Vic, to allow her mother, Glenda (Glynis Barber) to move into Jack's flat. Glenda later moves out of Jack's flat and into number 29b. Ronnie stays with Jack in 29a after a falling out with her family. They later get married and in December 2010, Ronnie gives birth to son, James, who dies of cot death. She swaps her dead child with Kat and Alfie Moon's (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) healthy child, Tommy (Ralph and Shane) who was born at the same time as James.
In April 2011, Ronnie returns Tommy to Kat after revealing her deceit and Ronnie is imprisoned in July 2011 for three years. Jack is temporarily awarded custody of his daughter, Amy Mitchell (Amelie Conway) and she moves in with him, but she is later returned to Roxy. Jack continues living here, with his friend, Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) staying here on brief occasions. In August 2012, Jack and Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) begin a relationship so, Sharon and her son Dennis (Harry Hickles) move in with Jack. They move out in 2013, when Jack cancels their wedding. Michael begins living here on a permanent basis when he is kicked out of number 23, but later moves out again. Ronnie is released from prison in September 2013 and when Jack and Ronnie reunite, she moves back in. However, in October, Jack leaves the square after not being able to fix his relationship with Ronnie. The flat remains unoccupied.

29b Albert Square
edit29b Albert Square was first occupied, since becoming flats, by Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman) in 2005, for a few months before Dennis was murdered. In December 2009, Ronnie, Roxy and Amy Mitchell (Samantha Womack, Rita Simons, Kamil and Natalia Lipka-Kozanka) moved into number 29b as their father, Archie (Larry Lamb) had kicked them and the rest of the family out with his fiancée, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) causing the family to spend Christmas apart, they later moved out and went to live in number 27 with Billy Mitchell and Jay Brown (Perry Fenwick and Jamie Borthwick). Glenda Mitchell (Glynis Barber) later began living here .
When Ronnie reveals to her family that Archie raped her when she was a teenager, Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) and Roxy don't believe her. Roxy soon changes her mind, but Peggy remains adamant in her belief. As a result, Roxy moves in with Glenda in flat 29b. After Ronnie and Roxy find out that Glenda knew about Archie abusing Ronnie, Roxy decides to move out with Amy and go live back in The Vic with Peggy. Roxy moves back several weeks later when the Vic is heavily damaged by fire. After a few weeks Roxy moves back into number 27 with her daughter Amy. Glenda later moved out. In October 2010, Billie Jackson (Devon Anderson) died and his mum, Carol (Lindsey Coulson) embarked on an on/off relationship with Billie’s friend, Connor Stanley (Arinze Kene), unbeknown to Carol that he was also in a relationship with her step-granddaughter, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty). Carol and Connor rented out 29b as a love nest and when their relationship was revealed in early 2011, they was no possible of chance of it being re-used with Carol or Connor.
In late 2011, Roxy and Amy returned to 29b however Amy's father, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was awarded temporary custody of their daughter when she drowned under the care of Jay and Ben Mitchell (Joshua Pascoe), however she was returned to her mother and they moved out of the flat. In summer 2012, Ray Dixon (Charles Venn) moved into flat 29b. In May 2013, Ray left Walford to live nearer his daughter, Sasha (Rebecca Sanneh). Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) purchased the property for him and his pregnant fiancée Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) in August 2015. Kush's mother, Carmel Kazemi (Bonnie Langford), has stayed at the house on various occasions during 2015, eventually moving in when she was evicted in March 2016. Shabnam left Walford in February 2016. Kush's brother, Shaki Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi) moved in upon his arrival in May.

31 Albert Square
edit31 Albert Square was once a vicarage, and home to Alex Healy (Richard Driscoll). Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) bought the house and rented it to Alex's father Jeff (Leslie Schofield) and sister Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite). The Healy family leave Walford in 2000 and in 2002, Phil moves in with his mother Peggy (Barbara Windsor) and his daughter Louise (Rachel Cox). Kate Morton (Jill Halfpenny) also lived here whilst in a relationship with Phil. Peggy, Phil, Kate and Louise all moved out of number 31 during 2003, leaving Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) living here alone. Sam married Andy Hunter (Michael Higgs) and he moved in with her. Andy threw Sam out when she was conned out of the Mitchell empire. Andy leaves Pat Butcher (Pam St. Clement) number 31 in his will and she inherited it when he ws murdered. Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and his girlfriend, Honey Edwards (Emma Barton) joined Pat at number 31 briefly and once they left, Pat was living here alone.
In early 2006, Pat's nephew through marriage, Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels) arrived to stay with her, along with: his two children, Carly and Deano (Kellie Shirley and Matt Di Angelo); fiancée Denise Fox (Diane Parish); and Denise's two daughters, Chelsea and Libby (Tiana Benjamin and Belinda Owusu). Aubrey Valentine (Joseph Marcell) stayed at number 31 during his brief time in Walford, with Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) also stayed there when her husband Patrick (Rudolph Walker) threw her out for having an affair with Aubrey. However, when they discovered Aubrey had lied, she joined Patrick in their home. The Wicks family decided to take a vacation in December 2006, leaving Pat to have a home to herself, but this was thwarted when Bert Atkinson (Dave Hill) asked that he and his terminally ill wife Evie (Marji Campi) move in until her death. Evie died in the living room of number 31, with Bert leaving the household after the funeral to live with Patrick and Yolande. In October 2007, Deano and Chelsea were imprisoned for six months for attempting to pervert the course of justice, with Chelsea released for Christmas and Deano released in January 2008. Deano left the square following his release. Kevin died in a car accident in late December 2007, leaving his family devastated. Pat's grandson Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) briefly stayed with the Wicks family until he moved into number 45. Denise and Carly left to travel the world, scattering Kevin's ashes in the process. Chelsea and Libby decided to move out of number 31 and live with the Trueman family instead, leaving Pat alone.
Feeling alone, Pat invited Billy and Honey to live with her again, alongside their children Janet and William (Grace and Toby Walpole), but Honey refused. However, after much persuasion, she agreed to live in number 31. The family later found a property outside the square and moved out. Pat's granddaughter Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and her son Liam Butcher (James Forde) returned to Walford in April 2008, along with Bianca's stepdaughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), daughter Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) and youngest son Morgan Jackson-King (Devon Higgs). Shortly after this, Bianca's ex-husband and Pat's stepson Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) returned to the square after deciding to make a bigger impact on his son Liam's life. He was later thrown out by Bianca after he kissed her. Five months later, in September, Bianca's partner Tony King (Chris Coghill) arrived in Walford to live with her family. In December, it was revealed that Tony had been sexually abusing Whitney for three years since she was 12. Tony had then fled but the police caught up with him and he was arrested. Ricky's sister Janine (Charlie Brooks) returned to Walford and stayed with the Jacksons over the Christmas-New Year period. During this period, Ricky rejoined the family.
In June 2009, Debra Dean (Ruth Gemmell) - Whitney's mother - stayed here for a week, before returning a month later running scared of a mysterious man, Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott). Whitney discovers Ryan is her half-brother and tries to bring the three of them closer to be a family. Debra leaves after telling Whitney it would never work, but Ryan chooses to stay in Walford. Shortly after, Bianca asked Ricky to move out due to overcrowding in the house and he begins living with Janine. However, in October, Ricky and his fiancée, Sam Mitchell (now played by Daniella Westbrook), move back into number 31, but Sam quickly left. Pat moved out of the family house to stay with Janine briefly in early 2010, but swiftly returned. Ricky and Bianca married in February 2010, to the delight of their family. Bianca's brothers, Robbie and Billie Jackson (Dean Gaffney and Devon Anderson) return for the wedding, alongside their sister Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and mother Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson). Robbie and Sonia leave after the wedding, but Billie and Carol move in permanently. Carol later leaves to live with her brother, Max Branning (Jake Wood) in number 5, but soon returns in July. Pat chooses to move out in July 2010, moving into The Vic with best friend Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor), but when the pub was set on fire in September, Pat returned to the house. The following month, the Jacksons were left devastated Bianca discovered Billie lying dead on the sofa in the living room, after heavy drinking.
In July 2011, Ricky left Walford to earn money for his family in Dubai, returning in December. In January 2012, Pat died from cancer with her son David Wicks (Michael French) by her side, leaving the square devastated. Janine purchases number 31 and rents the house to the Butcher family. Weeks later, Ricky left the square to start afresh in France, with Liam visiting two months later. In April, Bianca was sentenced to imprisonment in Sussex, with Carol, Liam, Tiffany and Morgan joining her to live there. Whitney and Carol's brother Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) were left in charge of the house in their absence and were joined by Whitney's boyfriend Tyler Moon (Tony Discipline). When Derek discovered he had a daughter, Alice (Jasmyn Banks), she joined him, Whitney and Tyler in number 31. In June 2012, Ricky, Tiffany and Morgan briefly returned for Janine's wedding and in November, Carol, Bianca, Liam, Tiffany and Morgan permanently returned to the square. When Carol told them to leave, Derek and Alice moved out. Whitney and Tyler separated when Whitney kissed Joey Branning (David Witts) and Tyler moved out of number 31. Bianca visits Manchester for a fashion course and in her absence, her father David returns to Walford. Bianca returned in November 2013 with her new boyfriend, Terry Spraggan (Terry Alderton) and his children, TJ (George Sargeant) and Rosie (Jerzey Springer). When the Butcher-Spraggans realise that number 31 is overcrowded, the Spraggans move out. David leaves the square in May 2014 and in September, Bianca and Terry reunite and decide to leave Walford with their families. Whitney and Liam decide not to leave and stay with Carol. Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) stays with the Jacksons briefly.
Carol's daughter, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), separated from her husband in December and joined the Jackson family. Her girlfriend, Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and daughter, Rebecca Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) join her in April 2015. Cindy Williams (Mimi Keene) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) stayed with the Jackson family in May. Cindy, Max and Liam left Walford in August, whilst Whitney moved out. Lauren Branning, Robbie Jackson and Sami Jackson (Jacqueline Jossa, Dean Gaffney and Shiven Shankar) return to Walford in September, but left the following month. Carol also left Walford. Tina's mother, Sylvie Carter (Linda Marlowe), moved in when Tina and Sonia began caring for her in May 2016.
41 Albert Square
edit41 Albert Square was the original home to Pat (Pam St. Clement) and Frank Butcher (Mike Reid) when they were married. Frank's daughter, Janine (Rebecca Michael; Alexia Demetriou) lived here with them. Frank and Janine left and Pat later remarried. Her husband Roy Evans (Tony Caunter) moved in with her. Roy's son Barry (Shaun Williamson) and his wife Natalie (Lucy Speed) moved in with them. Natalie moved out when she and Barry broke up. Roy's other son Nathan Williams (Doug Allen) also lived her for a while. When Roy died, Barry kicked Pat out of the house. Barry started a relationship with Janine (now played by Charlie Brooks) and she moved in. Janine later pushed Barry down a cliff in Scotland while they were on their honeymoon, but she continued living here until she was arrested for the murder of Laura Beale (Hannah Waterman).
The house was bought by Johnny Allen (Billy Murray) who leased it to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Alfie lived here with his brother Spencer (Christopher Parker), and grandmother Victoria (Hilda Braid). Victoria died in December 2005 and Alfie went to America with Kat. Alfie's cousins Jake (Joel Beckett) and Danny Moon (Jake Maskall) also lived here, until Danny was chased from the Square by Johnny Allen. Jake lived here until his sharp exit in October 2006. After Jake left, Ruby (Louisa Lytton) inherited the house from her father and lived there with her boyfriend Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky), his sister Stacey (Lacey Turner), and her boyfriend Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements). They all moved out when Ruby left Walford, and she planned to rent out the house. In July 2007, Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels) and his wife Denise (Diane Parish) expressed an interest in purchasing the house and in September 2007, they were devastated when they discovered the property had been sold.
Several weeks later, the Masood family were revealed as the new owners of number 41. The Masood family consisted of; Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra), Zainab (Nina Wadia), Shabnam (Zahra Ahmadi) and Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel). In June 2008, Keith Miller (David Spinx) surprised the Masoods by moving himself in after being kicked out of his house by stepdaughter Dawn Swann (Kara Tointon). After Keith and Dawn's brother Mickey (Joe Swash) left for the Cotsworlds, Dawn, Jase Dyer (Stephen Lord), Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Dawn's baby Summer (Rebecca and Isabella Hegarty) temporarily lived here following the explosion at number 27 that was caused by May Wright (Amanda Drew). They later moved into a B&B outside of the Square and in October 2008, Shabnam left the square to go to Pakistan. In April 2009, Zainab and Masood's eldest son, Syed (Marc Elliott), turned up after being in contact with Zainab and being away from the family for four years. Syed later moved in with Zainab, Tamwar and Masood in May 2009. The following month, Syed's girlfriend, Amira Shah (Preeya Kalidas), moved in with the Masoods for a brief time and then later moved in with Janine. Amira moves back in after she marries Syed.
In April 2010, Syed and Amira rent 11a Turpin Road, therefore leaving number 41 much to the dislike of Zainab. Syed comes back to stay with the Masoods in May 2010 after he says to the Masoods that he will get his life on track and keep away from Christian Clarke (John Partridge) after their secret affair was revealed a month earlier. In July 2010 Syed decides he can't fight his feelings any longer and he can't change who is for his family so he decides to get back together and move in with Christian. In 2011, Tamwar marries his partner, Afia Khan (Meryl Fernandes) and she moves in. She departs in June 2012 after deciding that she can never be truly happy in Walford and the following month, Masood's brother, AJ Ahmed (Phaldut Sharma) moves into the Masood household. December sees the Masood's family friend, Ayesha Rana (Shivani Ghai) arrives and three months later, February 2013, Zainab and Masood end their relationship and she and Kamil leave Albert Square. Ayesha then leaves shortly after and in July 2013, Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) becomes a lodger for the Masoods. Masood's mother dies in January 2014 and Masood insists that he and AJ should go for the funeral, despite AJ getting a new job in Birmingham. AJ refuses, leaving Walford.
Shabnam (now played by Rakhee Thakrar) returned in January, causing Fatboy to move out. Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) stayed with the Masoods between February and April and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and his large family stayed with the Masoods between September and November. Peter Beale (Ben Hardy) also stayed here briefly in December. In November 2015, Shabnam moved in with her husband, Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) and Kamil returned to live with Masood. Tamwar left Walford in April 2016. Jane's mother and brother, Linda Clarke (Lynda Baron) and Christian Clarke (John Partridge) stayed with Masood in May.

43 Albert Square
edit43 Albert Square is one of the most lived-in houses in Albert Square. It was originally owned by Andy O'Brien (Ross Davidson) and Debbie Wilkins (Shirley Cheriton). Sue Osman (Sandy Ratcliff) lived with them after the death of her baby Hassan (Michael Evangelou), and Naima Jeffery (Shreela Ghosh) lodged with them for a while too. After Andy died in 1986, Debbie sold the property to James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde). When James bought The Dagmar, he moved into the flat above that, so he sold the property to Alan McIntyre (Pip Millar), who then had the house converted into flats.
In 2008, 43c was merged with 43b thus giving 43b an upstairs and in autumn 2013, it was shown that 43a and 43b had been converted into number 43. Sadie Young (Kate Magowan), Jake Stone (Jamie Lomas) and their daughter, Bella (Isobelle Molloy) had moved in here. In January 2014, Jake's affair with Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) was revealed and Sadie took Bella and left Walford. Jake later moves out. In October 2014, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) tries to rent the property, but does not have the money. Instead, he begins squatting with his oblivious family: wife, Kat (Jessie Wallace); their children, Tommy (Ralphie White), Bert and Ernie (Freddie and Stanley Beale); and Kat's grandmother, Mo Harris (Laila Morse). The following month, the estate agent, from Duncan Joe Estates, manages to rent the property to an unknown character and they are evicted.

43a Albert Square
edit43a Albert Square is the downstairs flat of 43 Albert Square which was originally lived in and owned by Alan McIntyre (Pip Millar). The flat was then bought by Den Watts (Leslie Graham) for his daughters, Sharon Watts and Vicki Fowler (Letitia Dean and Samantha Leigh Martin) and Vikki's mother - Michelle (Susan Tully). They housed an unwanted lodger, Donna Ludlow (Matilda Ziegler), for a brief period of time. Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) bought the downstairs flat from Sharon in 1990 and sold it onto Frank and Pat Butcher (Mike Reid and Pam St. Clement). The Butchers continued to live here until 1993, when they sold it to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Phil's partner, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) moved in with Phil until they moved into 5 Albert Square. Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher (Patsy Palmer and Sid Owen) lived in 43a during 1996, followed by Simon Raymond (Andrew Lynford) with his boyfriend, Chris Clarke (Matthew Jay Lewis) in 1998. Dot, Nick and Ashley Cotton (June Brown, John Altman and Frankie Fitzgerald) lived in number 43a from 2000 for a year.
Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) and his girlfriend, Nita Mistry (Bindya Solanki) lived here in 2003 with Nita's son, Anish (Ali Zahoor). When they moved to India, Zoe Slater and Kelly Taylor (Michelle Ryan and Brooke Kinsella) became the residents of the downstairs flat, but Zoe moved out when she struggled to pay the rent. Gus Smith (Mohammed George) became Kelly's new flatmate and when Kelly moved out in 2004, Gus' brother Juley (Joseph Kpobie) joined Gus in the flat. Keith Miller (David Spinx) briefly lodged with Gus and Juley when his wife Rosie (Gerry Cowper) kicked him out of their house. Juley left Walford in July 2006. In April 2007, Mickey Miller and his girlfriend, Li Chong (Joe Swash and Elaine Tan) moved in with Gus, but both left in July. In December 2007, Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky) moved in, but annoyed Gus throughout his tenure in the flat. In May 2008, Gus left Walford and Sean moved into 23 Albert Square. The following month, Lucas and Jordan Johnson (Don Gilet and Michael-Joel David Stuart) moved into the flat so that Lucas could be closer to his daughter, Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin). Lucas and Jordan later moved into 18 Albert Square.
Janine Butcher, Billy Mitchell and Jay Brown (Charlie Brooks, Perry Fenwick and Jamie Borthwick) moved into number 43a, but Billy and Jay left to live with their family. Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb), Syed Masood (Marc Elliot), Amira Shah (Preeya Kalidas), Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) and Pat Butcher (Pam St. Clement) all briefly stayed with Janine during 2009. Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) became a permanent housemate for Janine in July 2009. Janine moves out for a brief period of time as does Ryan the following year. They do both return to the flat and eventually get married. Ryan decides he does not love Janine and moves out. In January 2011, Ryan's half-sister Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) moves in with Janine, which leads to Whitney becoming involved with a pimp. She later returns to her family. In April 2011, Janine discovers that her elderly, rich grandmother, Lydia Simmonds (Margaret Tyzack; Heather Chasen) is ill and visits her. After discovering how much she is worth and that is she needs somewhere to live, Janine brings her home with her and they connect. Three months later, Lydia dies - leaving Janine heartbroken and in her will, Lydia leaves Janine millions. Janine invests this into her own business, Butcher's Joints and buys number 27, moving out of number 43a.
Syed and his new boyfriend, Christian Clarke (John Partridge) move in following Janine's move. Amira returns, to the shock of Syed, with his daughter - Yasmin. When Amira leaves the square again, Yasmin begins living with Syed and Christian permanently. They pair get married in October 2012, but split up after Syed's fling with Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy) is revealed. Christian moves out and Amira returns, asking Syed if Yasmin can live with her and her new fiancee in Birmingham. Syed and Christian reunite and leaves for America in November 2012. In autumn 2013, it was shown that 43a and 43b had been converted into number 43.

43b Albert Square
edit43b Albert Square is the middle flat of 43 Albert Square which was originally lived in and owned by Alan McIntyre (Pip Millar). Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) and his sister Jackie (Race Davies) bought the flat from Alan in 1999 and were joined by Steve's partner, Melanie Healy (Tamzin Outhwaite). At the time of selling, this flat was the last of the three in the property to be owned by Alan. Steve sold the flat to Sharon Watts and Tom Banks (Letitia Dean and Colm Ó Maonlaí) in 2002, but Tom died later in the year. Sharon's sister, Vicki Fowler (Scarlett Alice Johnson), and adoptive brother, Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman), came to live with Sharon in 2003, but they moved out in late 2003. The following year, Dennis and his girlfriend Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) moved into the flat. Both left the flat when their relationship ended. In April 2008, Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) was offered the flat, but refused and Vinnie Monks (Bobby Davro) took the flat instead. Joining Vinnie was his partner, Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), and Shirley's best friend, Heather Trott (Cheryl Ferguson). In August 2008, Vinnie and Shirley separated and Shirley left the flat, but Heather stayed. Vinnie later moved out and Shirley rejoined Heather. In April 2009, Heather briefly moved out. She gave birth to a baby boy, George Trott (Joshua), in October 2009. Billy Mitchell and Jay Brown (Perry Fenwick and Jamie Borthwick) also stayed here for a brief period of time.
Phill and Ben Mitchell (Steve McFadden and Charlie Jones) stays with Shirley, Heather and George during December 2009. Shirley's niece, Zsa Zsa (Emer Kenny) arrived in Walford and began staying with Shirley in January 2010. Shirley, Zsa Zsa, Heather and George move out in March, but Heather and George return shortly after. Billy and Jay also join the Trotts when they are kicked out of their home. In August, they are all evicted because the landlord could not make his mortgage repayments. In 2008, 43c was merged with 43b thus giving 43b an upstairs and in autumn 2013, it was shown that 43a and 43b had been converted into number 43.

43c Albert Square
edit43b Albert Square is the top flat of 43 Albert Square which was originally lived in and owned by Alan McIntyre (Pip Millar). Alan rented the flat to Donna Ludlow (Matilda Ziegler) in return for sexual favours. Alan evicted Donna in August 1998 and The Firm manager, Joanne Francis (Pamela Salem) bought the flat from Alan. The following year, Joanne moved out and she sold the flat to Julie Cooper (Louise Plowright). Julie left Walford after deciding to move back to her hometown in 1990 and three years later, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) bought the bottom and top flat of number 43 from their respective owners. Phil moved into the bottom flat and sold the top flat to Sanjay and Gita Kapoor (Deepak Verma and Shobu Kapoor). On the same day of the Kapoor's purchase of the flat, Gita gives birth to a daughter, Sharmilla (Priya Bilkhu). Gita's sister, Meena McKenzie (Sudha Bhuchar), moves into the flat in July 1993, but is thrown out when she has an affair with Sanjay. He is later forgiven and moves back into the flat. In March 1997, Sanjay visits India and upon his return, brings his mother, Neelam (Jamila Massey), back with him. In October 1997, Gita decides to visit her sister with Sharmilla and continues to postpone her return until January 1998. Gita does not appear and is missing for several months, but in July, Sanjay finally makes contact with Gita. They return to the square, with Gita's newborn son from a one-night stand, Arjun (Amar Malik). Disgusted by her daughter-in-law and her son for forgiving Gita, Neelam returns to India. Unable to stay in Walford, Sanjay and Gita decide to leave Walford with Sharmilla and Arjun.
In 2008, 43c was merged with 43b thus giving 43b an upstairs.

45 Albert Square
edit45 Albert Square ("Rosedene") has been home to the Beale/Fowler family since the start of the second World War (1939) when it had an outside toilet. The property was owned by the council until 2004 when Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richards) purchased it from them.
The first Beales to live here were, Albert (Gary Olsen) and Lou Beale (Anna Wing) and their three children, Kenny (Michael Attwell), Pauline and Pete (Peter Dean). Pete's wife, Pat (Pam St. Clement) began living here until she was caught in bed with Kenny and they were both forced to leave by Lou. In 1965, the family is left devastated when Albert dies and in the same year, Pauline marries Arthur Fowler (Bill Treacher) so he moves into number 45. 1968 sees Pauline give birth to Mark (David Scarboro) and Pete get married to Kathy Hills (Gillian Taylforth). Following the birth of Pauline and Arthur's daughter, Michelle (Susan Tully), Kathy and Pete move out and Pauline and Arthur's final child, Martin Fowler (Jon Peyton Price) is born in July 1985. The first on-screen residents were Lou, Pauline, Arthur, Mark, Michelle and Martin. Michelle moves out in 1986, as does Mark in 1987 and Kenny returns to stay in Walford, for a month, in February 1988 and five months later, Lou dies peacefully in her sleep. Mark (now played by Todd Carty) moves back in 1990 and so does Michelle with her daughter, Vicki (Samantha Leigh Martin), in 1993, but they move out two years later. Arthur dies of a brain haemorrhage in 1996, after months of tragedy for him and in 2001, Mark's new wife, Lisa (Lucy Benjamin), moves in until the couple move out. Pauline's childhood friend, Derek Harkinson (Ian Lavender) arrives in the square and Pauline lets him live in number 45 and in 2003, Martin (now played by James Alexandrou) briefly moves out.
Vikki (now played by Scarlett Johnson) returns living here at the same time as Martin, but she eventually leaves again. Martin gets married to Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) in 2004 and she moves in. After a string of arguments between him and Pauline, Derek moves out. Sonia and Martin's daughter (who they gave up for adoption in 2000), Rebecca Miller (Jade Sharif) returns to their care in 2005 - moving into the Fowler home. Joe Macer (Ray Brooks) begins dating Pauline in autumn 2005 and he moves in, with his friend - Bert Atkinson (Dave Hill). They marry in February 2006, but Pauline dies on Christmas Day 2006, with Joe also leaving the household. Pauline left her house to Martin, unless he reunited with Sonia (which he did), but they left Walford with Rebecca anyway. This left Pete and Kathy's only child Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) in ownership of number 45. He moves into the house with: wife Jane (Laurie Brett); daughter Lucy (Melissa Suffield); and sons Peter and Bobby (Thomas Law and Alex Francis). Jane's brother, Christian Clarke (John Partridge, stayed here with the Beales on two occasions in 2008 and 2009. Ian's stepson Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) stayed here during 2008 whilst Lucy was not staying here. Jane's mother, Linda Clarke (Lynda Baron), stays with the Beales for four months, leaving in February 2009. Jane's friend, Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner), requests that whilst she is imprisoned, her daughter, Lauren (Madeline Duggan), stays with the Beales for two months from December 2008. Jane and Tanya decided to do a wife-swap during 2009 and Tanya stayed in the Beale household for a week.
Jane left Walford for a month, returning in December 2009. Lucy leaves Walford in August 2010, following a stressful few months, to stay with her grandmother Bev Williams (Diane Langton) in Devon. Peter chose to leave Walford in December, also going to stay with Bev. Jane decides to divorce Ian in early 2011, but continues living with him and Bobby until May 2011. Mandy Salter returned to the square in August, to the surprise of Ian and he invites her to live with himself and Bobby. They later begin a relationship, as well as getting engaged. Lucy (now played by Hetti Bywater) returns in January 2012 for the funeral of Pat Evans (Pam St. Clement) and is disgusted by Ian's engagement to Mandy. Mandy's mother Lorraine Stevens (Victoria Alcock) stays with the Beales during March. On their wedding day, Mandy is perturbed by Ian's erratic behaviour and leaves him. Ian suffers a nervous breakdown and leaves the square, absent-minded. This left Lucy to look after Bobby and in Ian's absence, Lucy matured and acted like a parent to Bobby. Lucy moved her boyfriend Joey Branning (David Witts) into the house and he helped Lucy with Bobby. Lauren (now played by Jacqueline Jossa) found Ian at a homeless shelter and returned him to Walford, where he was given the cold shoulder by Lucy. She later allowed him to return to number 45 because he signed all the businesses over to Lucy. Joey ends his relationship with Lucy and moves out. Peter (now played by Ben Hardy) returns for the opening of Ian's new restaurant, originally titled - 'Ian Beale @ Le Square', and moves back in. Peter and Lucy's half-sister Cindy Williams (Mimi Keene) arrives in Walford and quickly moves in, annoying Lucy and worrying Peter. Ian begins a relationship with Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and she moves in - pleasing the children.
Peter moved in with his girlfriend Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in March 2014. The following month, Lucy was murdered and Cindy went to live with her aunt, Gina Williams (Nicola Cowper), in Devon. Jane then left Walford, taking Bobby with her, whilst Peter joined Ian and Denise. Following his stroke, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) moved in, but moves out with Denise in August. Cindy returned in August and gave birth to a daughter, Beth. Jane and Bobby (now played by Elliot Carrington) returned in November, joining Ian and Peter. Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) stayed with the family between December 2014 and February 2015. Jane revealed in February to Ian, Peter and Cindy that Bobby killed Lucy in the family living room and following this, Peter leaves Walford. Martin and Rebecca Fowler house-sat for Ian and Jane whilst they were on honeymoon. Following Cindy's decision to give Beth to her father, she was asked to move out by Ian and Jane, but returned in July. Cindy left Walford in August.
Kathy Sullivan returned to Walford 'from the dead' in October and began staying with the Beales. Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) stayed here in January 2016 and Bobby left Walford to live at a boarding school. Bobby returned in May and brutally attacked Jane in the living room. When Bobby confessed to attacking Jane and killing Lucy, the house was treated as a crime scene, causing the Beales to stay elsewhere. Ian and Kathy later moved back in, but Bobby was denied bail pending his trial. Steven Beale, Lauren Branning and Ian's grandson Louie Beale returned to Walford and moved in with Ian and Kathy in July, whilst Jane also returned home.

47 Albert Square
edit47 Albert Square is split into two flats.
47a Albert Square
editThe top flat is 47a Albert Square was originally owned and lived in by Saeed (Andrew Johnson) and Naima Jeffery (Shreela Ghosh), but they later sold it to Alan McIntyre (Pip Miller), who rented it to Ali (Nejdet Salih) and Sue Osman (Sandy Ratcliff), in 1986. When Mehmet Osman (Haluk Bilginer) gambled away his home, his wife Guizin (Ishia Bennison) and his children Rayif (Billy Hassan), Emine (Pelin Ahmet) and Murat (Eddie Izzet), moved into Ali and Sue's flat. By 1989, the Osmans had all vacated. In 1992, Mark Fowler (Todd Carty) and Steve Elliot (Mark Monero) lived in 47a and Hattie Tavernier (Michelle Gayle) lived here with Steve until he jilted her. Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) moved in when Steve left in 1993 and Arthur Fowler (Bill Treacher) came to stay after he was thrown out of his marital home for having an affair.
Drug-dealer, Dan Zappieri (Carl Pizzie), and his girlfriend Melanie lived in the top flat for a while. Lorraine Wicks (Jacqueline Leonard) and her son, Joe (Paul Nicholls) later lived in the flat. The flat was later occupied by Ricky (Sid Owen) and Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) and in 2010, Grace Olubunmi (Ellen Thomas) and her granddaughter, Mercy (Bunmi Mojekwu) move in. Zsa Zsa Carter (Emer Kenny) moved in when she is made homeless, but later leaves Walford a few months later. Mercy's friend, Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) moves in with Mercy and Grace in late 2010. When he arrives to stay in Walford with Fatboy, Ashley Chubb (Colin Mace) temporarily lives in the flat. When Mercy is deported, Fatboy moves out.
It is later revealed Grace has moved back to Nigeria and Ava Hartman (Clare Perkins), her son Dexter (Khali Best) move in here. Ava later reunites with Dexter's dad, Sam James (Cornell S John) and he moves in, but in November 2013, Sam leaves the square. Ava receives a job in Newcastle and leaves Walford, so Dexter moves in with Ava's mother, Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell). When she returned to Walford, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) began renting the top flat, but soon moved out of the flat.

editThe ground floor flat of 47 Albert Square was originally owned and lived in by Alan McIntyre (Pip Miller), a local builder. Siblings, Tiffany (Martine McCutcheon) and Simon Raymond (Andrew Lynford) lived in 47b with Tony Hills (Mark Homer) in 1996. 47b was later used as a squat by Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney), Lenny Wallace (Desune Coleman) and Huw Edwards (Richard Elis). Later Barry (Shaun Williamson) and Natalie Evans (Lucy Speed) lived in the flat for a while.
Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) bought the flat when she started her property business, Butcher's Joints and Max Branning (Jake Wood) later began renting it from Janine. He and his wife, Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) moved in here in April 2013 and Max's alcoholic daughter, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) moves in temporarily a few months later. Following the seperation of Max and Kirsty, Max moves in 5 Albert Square with Lauren, leaving Kirsty in 47b. However, they reunite and Kirsty moves out of 47b. Shortly after Kirsty's move, Carl White (Daniel Coonan) moves in, in November 2013, however two months later he is killed by Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack).
Terry Spraggan (Terry Alderton) began renting the flat for himself and his two children, TJ (George Sargeant) and Rosie (Jerzey Swingler) and Nikki Spraggan (Rachel Wilde) joined them in May 2014, leaving in July. Terry, TJ and Rosie left Walford in September, but had paid the rent until December. Kat and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) and their family moved into the flat in November, but are evicted in December. Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond) began renting the flat in early 2015. Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Martin Fowler (James Bye) both stayed with Donna briefly. Pam Coker (Lin Blakley) stayed with Donna in late 2015 as did Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) in March 2016.

Bridge Street
editBridge Street is the main street into Albert Square and is home to the Walford street market.
Bridge Street Market
editBridge Street Market is located down Bridge Street and is seen as the centre of the Walford community to the residents of the square. Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) once planned to remove the market in favour of a shopping centre, to the dislike of the residents and his family and in 2004, the residents celebrate 100 years of the market. The residents of Albert Square, led by Ian, fiercely protested against the market's proposed closure in February 2014, resulting in Spring Lane Market merging with Bridge Street Market. There have been many market inspectors over the years, with nobody currently occupying the role.
Beale's Fruit and Veg
editBeale's Fruit and Veg is a fruit and vegetable stall was run by Albert Beale (Gary Olsen) when they began the stall, until his death in 1965. Albert's son, Ronnie (Chase Marks) began running the stall following Albert's death, but he later left Walford. His brother, Pete (Peter Dean) began running the stall and was the first seen fruit and vegetable market trader of the Bridge Street Market. His wife, Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), assisted on the stall. When Pete died in 1993, his son Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was given the market stall, but Pete's other son, David Wicks (Michael French) later takes over. When David gave up on the stall, his cousin, Mark Fowler (Todd Carty) begins running it. Mark quit the stall in 2002 with his brother, Martin (James Alexandrou) taking over from him. Martin continued his role as a market trader until he left the square in 2007.
Ian began running the stall and continued to run it until June 2013 when his son Peter (Ben Hardy) took over from him. Peter left Walford in February 2015 and Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) temporarily began running it. Martin (now played by James Bye) returned in 2015 and was given the job, with Kathy sharing the job with him upon her return in October.

The Flower Stall
editTracey (Jane Slaughter) ran the original flower stall of the market. The stall is regularly robbed by new characters who steal flowers for people they are meeting. She employs workers whilst she does shifts in The Queen Vic, including Ina Foot (Ina Clare) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright). It is shown that Tracey still has her stall in June 2012, and Jean is offered her old job back by Tracey. However, after Jean argues with Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) - who has been conning her out of thousands, Tracey sacks her.
When the market merges, florist, Pam Coker (Lin Blakely) arrives, however when discussing the competition with Alfie, Pam states she has no competition. This implies Tracey no longer runs a flower stall and that Pam is the only florist of the market. In early 2016, Pam's grandson, Paul Coker (Jonny Labey), was made redundant and began working on Pam's stall as a market assistant. Paul was killed in July and whilst Pam grieved for her grandson, Claudette Hubbard (Ellen Thomas) ran the stall on her behalf.

This closes in 2010. Masood chooses to reopen the stall again in 2015 using the original name, Masala Masood. He hires Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) to work on the stall, alongside himself. Stacey's clothes stall
editAfter weeks of cleaning together at the R&R and The Queen Vic and failing, Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) and Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) decide to start a market stall, selling clothes. Kat's estranged husband, Alfie (Shane Richie) gives Bianca and Kat the money to get a stall. Bianca is given money by Max Branning (Jake Wood) to attend a fashion course in Manchester and in her absence, Kat lets Kirsty Branning (Kierston Wareing) work here. When Bianca returns, in November 2013, she kicks Kirsty off the stall.
A jobless Alfie begins helping out on the stall in February 2014 and Kat and Bianca begin to worry when Kat is charged with perjury as Bianca won't be able to run the stall alone. Kat and Bianca clash with Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond), when she arrives to the market as a new trader from Spring Lane. Kat is given a suspended sentence in May 2014 and her and Bianca discover someone has bought the pitch next to theirs and will be selling clothes, but are shocked when it is revealed to be Alfie. The war between Bianca and Kat and Donna heats up when Donna starts to tell customers that her clothes aren't 'old tat' unlike Bianca and Kat's.
In June 2014, it was shown that Kat is not working on the stall at the moment due to her pregnancy with twins, but when the Moons become in financial trouble, she returns to the stall while Alfie looks after the children. In September 2014, Bianca leaves the square with her partner, Terry Spraggan (Terry Alderton) and their family, leaving Kat as the sole trader on the stall. Mo Harris (Laila Morse) begins helping out on the stall, following Bianca's departure and the stall temporarily closes when Kat is hospitalized following an explosion at her house. However in November, Kat returns to the stall. Kat continues to work on the stall, but on a few occasions has not worked due to personal issues.
In May 2015, Kat and Alfie win the lottery and plan to emigrate to Spain. After discovering that her cousin Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) is in need of a job, Kat and Alfie pay for market fees and stock for a year so that she can work on the stall. In December 2015, Stacey gives birth to a son, causing her to quit the market. In April 2016, in need of money, Martin Fowler (James Bye) opens up a stall on Stacey's former pitch. He sells bric-a-brac. Kyle Slater (Riley Carter Millington) assists him on the stall. Martin quickly closes the stall when it begins failing.

Donna's clothes stall
editDonna Yates (Lisa Hammond) was one of many to transfer to Bridge Street Market from Spring Lane Market, following the merge. She set up her clothes stall and instantly clashed with Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) and Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), who also have a clothes stall. It is shown that Donna has two assistants on her stall. In August 2015, Donna is given a second stand after Aleks removes Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) from the market, but this is given to Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) in October. Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) began helping Donna on the stall in May 2016.

Market Inspector Aleks Shirov (Kristian Kiehling) sacks Alfie from working on the market in August. Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond) is then given the pitch, extending her stall, but Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) is given the pitch when he arrives in October. The Minute Mart
editThe Minute Mart (originally called First 'Til Last) is a supermarket located at 1 Bridge Street. It was originally owned by Saeed (Andrew Johnson) and Naima Jeffery (Shreela Ghosh), until Saeed left the square. Naima's parents, who were helping to fund the shop, stopped all funds with Naima after they fell out. The Karims began running First 'Til Last after Naima's parents decided to let Ashraf and Sufia run it. They left in June 1990 and Mr Papadopolous (Lee Warner) buys it in the mid 1990s, with Mrs Andreos running it for him. Mr Papadopolous planned to knock down the wall between the laundrette and First 'Til Last so he could expand the laundrette, however after much persuasion, he decides not to expand. In March 1997, Sanjay Kapoor's (Deepak Verma) mother, Neelam (Jamila Massey) arrives to Walford. In August, she purchases First 'Til Last
In 1998, not long after they marry, Terry and Irene Raymond (Gavin Richards and Roberta Taylor) become the new owners of First 'Til Last. A man smashes his van into the First 'til Last by mistake in 2000, meaning they have to close down. Irene separates from Terry shortly after.
First 'Til Last is later turned into part of The Minute Mart fictional chain, with Nita Mistry (Bindya Solanki) becoming the first character to work here, in December 2001. Following her departure in February 2003, Mr Hendry took over and Gus Smith (Mohammed George) also worked here in that year. In 2007, Patrick and Yolande Trueman (Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter) purchase the lease to the supermarket and they run it together. Since Patrick and Yolande's takeover, an extra character Helen, began working here. Yolande impresses a Minute Mart official and is offered a management position in Birmingham. Yolande accepts and prepares to move, however Patrick is less keen. Yolande leaves for Birmingham in October 2008, without Patrick. He continues to run the Minute Mart alone, until he bonds with Denise Fox (Diane Parish) which leads to Patrick offering Denise and her sister, Kim (Tameka Empson) jobs in the Minute Mart - to which they accept. Kim resigns from her role due to buying 18 and 20 Albert Square and transforming it into a bed and breakfast. Denise offers her friend, Zainab Khan (Nina Wadia) a job here after her family becoming embroiled in money issues.
Patrick stores some fireworks in the B&B, which he plans to light at New Year and when Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) sets fire to the B&B, the fireworks explode. Feeling guilty, Patrick retires and offers the Minute Mart to Denise and Kim - who accept. Yusef dies in the fire and Zainab inherits all of his money, which she gives to Denise and Kim so they renovate the B&B after feeling bad for the pair. Denise and Kim continue to run both the Minute Mart and B&B together and Patrick helps with the B&B. Denise focuses on the Minute Mart more in 2012 and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) buys a scratchcard from the Minute Mart and wins £250,000, leaving Kim to take pride in owning the shop which someone won a large amount of money from. This leaves Denise feeling very left out. Zainab leaves the square in February 2013, leaving Denise without a shop assistant. After still being in need of money, Zainab's son, Tamwar (Himesh Patel) helps out at the shop.
Kim left Walford in October 2013, leaving Denise as sole shopkeeper. Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) joined Denise working at The Minute Mart in February 2014 and the following year, Denise is sacked by the shop owners. The owners decided to sell the shop in July 2015, but later decided to keep it open. Denise returned to work as shopkeeper when Shabnam had to take extended compassionate leave in September. Shabnam left Walford in February 2016 and Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) is employed to replace her.

Cindy's
editCindy's (aka Bridge Street Café, previously Al's Café, Laura's, Kathy's Café, Shirley's Café and Mandy's) is the café located at 2 Bridge Street. It was first seen as Al's Café where it was run by Ali and Sue Osman (Nejdet Salih and Sandy Ratcliff). From the building they also ran a minicab firm called OzCabs. Ian Beale and Guizin Osman (Adam Woodyatt and Ishia Bennison) works her too. In late 1989, Ali begins to struggle to keep his businesses afloat and cannot afford the rent increase. He attempts an insurance scam by torching his cafe, which is witnessed by Ian. Ian uses the situation to his advantage, forcing Ali to sign the cafe over to him and a feud is sparked between them when Ali neglects to mention that the kitchen utilities were bought on hire purchase and are later repossessed. Ian and his wife, Cindy (Michelle Collins) run the café together as Bridge Street Market. When their marriage fell apart, Ian sold the café to his mother, Kathy (Gillian Taylforth). Following Kathy's purchase of the café, Blossom Jackson (Mona Hammond) began working here and continued to work here until her departure in 1997. In 1993, Kathy employed Sylvia Weng-Chung and Christine Hewitt (Rachel Hiew and Elizabeth Power) as a waitress in the café.
Kathy remained in control until 1995, when she fell pregnant with Ben Mitchell (Matthew Silver). Following this and the reunion of Ian and Cindy, Ian buys the café from Kathy and renames it Kathy's Café. Cindy and Ian split up and he continues to run the café alone after this. He employs his fiancée, Melanie Healy (Tamzin Outhwaite) as a waitress. She was fired in December 1999 and Ian goes into bankruptcy the following year. The café is closed for a couple of months. Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Ian's rival, bought the café and gave a remake. Marie Evans (Elizabeth Sweet) became a café assistant here in 2003. Ian later tried to rebuild his empire, but Phil refused to sell. Ian's ex-wife, Laura (Hannah Waterman) was robbed of her money by Ian and plotted her revenge. Phil gave her a job as café manager to which she accepted and with his permission, Laura renamed the café, Laura's. Phil was framed for armed robbery and left, signing the café to his sister Sam (Kim Medcalf). Laura didn't continue to work here. Ian sneakily got Sam to sign the business to him and he returned it to the name Kathy's Café.
Due to his other business ventures, Ian employed his girlfriend Jane Collins (Laurie Brett) as the café manager. Ian's children, Lucy (Melissa Suffield) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law) helped out here. In 2009, Nick Cotton (John Altman) holds Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison), Lucy, Lauren Branning (Madeline Duggan), Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) hostage and the café explodes. The café goes under refurbishment, following the explosion. Ian and Jane refurbish the café, to the design of her brother Christian Clarke (John Partridge). Ian goes into a partnership with Jane, but they divorce - battling it out for the businesses. Ian was especially determined to keep hold of the café, but Phil teamed up with Jane to get the café for her. Jane won the café in the divorce settlement, upsetting Ian and she then employs Carol as café manager. Jane, however, left the café soon afterwards - selling it to Phil. Phil's partner Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) manages the café. They renamed it Shirley's Café, in a mockery of Kathy's Cafe - to annoy Ian. She employs Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) briefly and Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) briefly after that.
The café was sold back to Ian in April 2012 and he renamed it Mandy's. When Lucy (now played by Hetti Bywater) is given power of Ian's businesses, she renames the café Cindy's. Ian returns to ownership in June 2013 and in January 2014, Carol quits her job. Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) is then hired by Ian. Carol returned to work in April 2014, but took leave in May, with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Liam Butcher (James Forde) covering her shifts. Carol returned to work in September and Jane began working at the café when she returned to Walford in November. Carol left Walford in October 2015 and Kathy, who had returned 'from the dead', replaced Carol. Tina was sacked from the café in April 2016 and Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) was shown to work in the café in July.

Walford Laundrette
editWalford Laundrette is a laundrette is located at 3 Bridge Street. It was originally owned by Mr Papadopoulos, until his death in 1992 and his son, Andois (Lee Warner) became the owner following his death. The original laundress manageress was Dot Cotton (June Brown) and Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richards) assisted Dot in the laundrette. Dot left the square in August 1993 and Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) replaced Dot at the laundrette, not long after her arrival, while Pauline took on the manageress role. Andois visited the square in July 1994, where he discovered that Carol was faking an illness in order to get out of work. Carol was actually attending the wedding of Nigel and Debbie Bates (Paul Bradley and Nicola Duffett), which Andonis witnessed. The following day, he fires Carol as well as Pauline, who had been covering up for her. He employed a relative to work in their place, but the launderette fell into chaos, so both were eventually offered their jobs back, however Pauline made him grovel before accepting and managed to get a 75 pence per hour payrise.
In the 1990s, Andois bought the supermarket next to the laundrette, First 'Til Last and planned to extend the laundrette by knocking the wall between the two, but he later decided not to go through with his plan. Carol later stops working at the laundrette and when she returns in 1997, Dot returns to working here. Dot returns to her previous laundrette manageress role, whilst Pauline becomes laundrette assistant again. In 2004, Rosie Miller (Gerry Cowper) arrived and was given a job by Pauline. She left in July 2006. Pauline and Dot continue working here together until Pauline's death in December 2006. Dot continues to run the laundrette alone following her death, but now as laundrette manageress. Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) worked here from 2007 until her departure in 2008. Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) begins helping in the laundrette, in late 2008 and she goes on a shortened maternity leave in October 2009, due to struggling to fund for her and baby George. Dot works alongside many other various other colleagues, other than Heather, since Pauline's death. Dot left, following Heather's murder, in April 2012 and Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) takes over her role, but when she returns in January 2013, Dot resumes her role as laundrette manageress. Cora continues to work here, very infrequently and much to Dot's annoyance.
The laundrette makes less frequent appearances during 2015, following the imprisonment of Dot and the disappearance of Cora. Dot was released in September and mentioned she had a meeting with Mr Papadopoulos regarding her job. She later stated she had been reinstated as the laundrette manageress.

The Arjee Bhargee
editThe Arjee Bhargee (previously Hill's Hardware, Kool for Kutz, Barber's Shop, Walford Furnishing Warehouse, By the Letter, Pet Parlour and Giuseppe's) is currently a boarded-up restaurant that is located at 88-90 George Street, under the rail bridge, The property was not seen until 1995, when Ted Hills (Brian Croucher) arrived and bought number 88, as a hardware store called Hill's Hardware. Meanwhile, in the same year, Steve Eliot and Della Alexander (Michelle Joseph) bought number 90 and transformed it into a hairdressers, called Kool for Kutz. Later in the year, Steve and Della sell to Felix Kawalski (Harry Landis), who turns it into a barber shop. Both Ted and Felix left in 1997, with Ted selling to an unknown person and Felix selling to George and Annie Palmer (Paul Moriarty and Nadia Sawalha). Number 88 is turned into a home furnishing store, called Walford Furnishing Warehouse, while Annie and George turn number 90 into a print shop, called By the Letter to cover their illegal activities. They soon sell up and unknown owners purchase it and turn it into a pet parlour, simply called Pet Parlour.
Both unknown owners sold to Rosa di Marco (Louise Jameson) in 1998, when she knocked down the wall between the two properties and opened an Italian restaurant, called Giuseppe's, named after her late husband. Rosa ran the restaurant alongside her two sons, Beppe (Michael Greco) and Gianni (Marc Bannerman) and her daughter, Nicky (Carly Hillman). Rosa begins to struggle with the finance of the business, but George Palmer helps her with this. August 2000 sees Rosa, Gianni and Nicky leave the square and despite staying in the square, Beppe does not continue with the restaurant. An unknown buyer purchases the restaurant and changes it to Indian restaurant, The Arjee Bhargee.[8] In 2010, the restaurant was bought by Masood Ahmed and his wife Zainab Masood (Nitin Ganatra and Nina Wadia), following the closure of their post office. While not at school, their son Tamwar (Himesh Patel) works here and their eldest son, Syed (Marc Elliott) helps out when required.
In 2011, Masood and Zainab give the restaurant to Tamwar and his new wife, Afia (Meryl Fernandes), which pleases them. Tamwar makes Syed in charge of the books in summer 2012, but keeps the money for himself, leading to bailiffs repossessing the business. In 2015, it is seen that Hillner & Barrell Estate Agents own the property and are looking to sell it. Masood also shows an interest in purchasing the property, despite Tamwar and Shabnam Masood's (Rakhee Thakrar) reservations.

89 George Street
edit89 George Street is split into a three floors which are individually their own flats - the top floor being Flat A, the ground floor is Flat B and the basement is Flat C.
89a George Street
edit89a George Street is the flat located on the top floor. The first known occupant was noisy neighbour Gavin Sharp, who was forced out by Shirley Benson's friends, the Ferreiras. Pat Evans lived here, with Laura and Bobby Beale in 2003. Natalie Evans stayed with Pat in 2004. From May until October 2006, Denise Fox and her daughters, Libby and Chelsea lived here. Shirley Carter later rented the flat and her son, Deano Wicks moved in for a while. Heather Trott moved in, in September 2007, to escape her controlling mother, Queenie. In February 2008, Shirley asked Heather to leave the flat, intending Deano to move in once he was released from prison, however Deano had other ideas and left Walford, leaving his mum alone.
In March 2008, Shirley was evicted from the flat by her landlord Norman. Norman is the last known occupant of the flat, explaining to Shirley at the time that he needed to live there after being caught cheating by his wife. In July 2008, Ian bought 89a and Dawn Swann began renting the flat from Ian. Dawn moved in with her partner, Jase Dyer with their respective children, Summer and Jay. Days after they move in, they hold a flatwarming party, inviting the residents of the square. Jase was later killed so Jay went to live with Billy Mitchell and Dawn & Summer moved out. Callum Monks began living here after Garry Hobbs paid Ian for a deposit. Callum later moved in with Garry as Ian raised the rent to a price Ian could not afford.
Ronnie Mitchell moved in, in January 2009, following Callum's move, but moves out in spring 2009.

edit89b George Street is the ground floor flat of number 89 and was first occupied by Jules Tavernier, in 1994. Blossom Jackson and Nellie Ellis stayed with Jules for a while, before he left the square in 1997. Rosa, Gianni, Teresa and Nicky di Marco were next residents, followed by Shirley Benson in 2003. In July 2008, Ian Beale bought 89b and the following year, Syd Chambers moved in to the flat with her son Noah and their dog, Sugar. They were later joined by Amira Shah after Janine Butcher kicked her out and Zainab Masood briefly stays here to get some space from her family. In October 2009, Syd and Noah leave Walford, after Sugar's death, leaving Amira on her own. Amira moves out in 2010 after she marries Syed Masood. Zsa Zsa Carter, Leon Small and Fatboy squatted here briefly in early 2010.

89c George Street
editThe basement flat is called 89c George Street and it's first known occupants were Steve Elliot (Mark Monero) and his girlfriend Lydia (Marlaine Gordon). Beppe di Marco lived here with his lodger Nina Harris (Troy Titus-Adams). Later Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) moved in and lived here with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and then his wife Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth). Kate Mitchell (Jill Halfpenny) lived here from 2003 until her departure in January 2005. The latest known residents of the flat are Vince Franks (Jamie Kenna) and his son Jez (Tex Jacks). Billy returned to living here with his new girlfriend, Julie Perkins (Cathy Murphy) in 2011 and his children, Janet (Grace) and William (Toby Walpole) stay with them on occasions. When Billy and Julie discover they have a granddaughter called Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), in July 2011 - she moves to Walford and in with Billy and Julie. After months of torment from Lola, Julie leaves Walford and Billy.
In August 2012, Lola gives birth to a baby girl, who she calls Lexi (Dotti-Beau Cotterill), but she is later taken away by social services and looked after, temporarily, by her grandfather - Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Lexi is returned in summer 2013 and Shirley and Tina Carter (Linda Henry and Luisa Bradshaw-White) stay with Billy in November 2013, until they move into The Queen Vic with their brother, Mick (Danny Dyer). Lola begins a relationship with Peter Beale (Ben Hardy) in November 2013 and he moves in to 89c in January 2014, but following his sister, Lucy's (Hetti Bywater) death, he moves out for a few weeks. He returns to 89c in May 2014 and Billy's ex-wife and Janet & William's mother, Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) also returns to Walford in that month, announcing that she is taking William and Janet to Canada because William has been offered some modelling work. However, after a change of heart and after seeing how well Billy handles Janet's Down's Syndrome, Honey lets Janet stay with Billy, but takes William to Canada.
In September 2014, Peter and Lola separate and he moves out. In July 2015, Lola chooses to leave Walford with Lexi after Billy informs the police of her boyfriend Jay Mitchell's (Jamie Borthwick) whereabouts. This leaves Billy and Janet living here alone. In November, Billy's employer Les Coker (Roger Sloman) splits from his wife of 43 years, Pam (Lin Blakley) and moves in with Billy and Janet. Weeks later, Honey and William, now called Will, return to Walford, but do not move in with Billy and instead takes Janet with them. Phil briefly stayed with Billy in January 2016, whilst Les moved out when he reconciled with Pam. Honey, Janet and Will moved in with Billy in March 2016 and the following month, Jay joins them.

91 George Street
edit91 George Street is a semi-detached house converted into three flats.
91a George Street
editThe exterior of 91a George Street has been seen for many years, but the interior was first seen in early 2014 - showing two main bedrooms, a kitchen and a small bedroom. Aleks Shirov (Kristian Kiehling) and Jake Stone (Jamie Stone) begin sharing the flat together. After needing someone else to pay the rent they advertise for another flatmate and Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White)'s girlfriend, Fiona "Tosh" Mackintosh (Rebecca Scroggs) begins sharing the flat with them - surprising Tina. Tina later moves in with them too and when Jake is jailed for the murder of Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater), Tina's nephew, Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), moves in.
In October 2014, Aleks moves out to live with his girlfriend, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and Dean moves out of the box room and into Alek's old bedroom. Dean then invites Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) to live with him, after a fire engulfed her home. She eventually agrees and her and her daughter, Lily (Aine Garvey) move into the box room. Dean and Stacey later begin a relationship and Lily gets the box room to herself. Tosh attacks Tina, leaving her badly bruised and the Carter family force Tosh out of Walford. Tina then moves in to Carter household. In December, Stacey discovers that Dean raped his sister-in-law, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and after her own experience with rape, she throws him out. Days later, her cousin Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) moves in after separating from her husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), along with her three children - Tommy (Ralphie White), Bert and Ernie (Freddie and Stanley Beale). When Kat's grandmother, Mo Harris (Laila Morse) returns from holiday, she moves in here too. In early 2015, Kat reunites with Alfie and he moves in. They win the lottery in May and decide to emigrate to Spain. Kat and Alfie also pay for the rent of 3b Albert Square for Stacey and Lily.

editIn 1993, Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) moved into 91b and shortly after he was joined by his girlfriend and her daughter, Debbie and Clare Tyler (Nicola Duffett and Gemma Bissix). Nigel's close friend, Dot Cotton (June Brown) stayed with them briefly too. Debbie and Nigel married in July 1994, but sadly the following year, Debbie is killed in a hit-and-run accident, leaving Nigel and Clare upset for some time. Nigel left in 1998 with Clare, after finding a new love. In 2012, it was shown that Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) and Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) had been using the flat as a place to meet up and have sex.

editIn 1998, Frank Butcher (Mike Reid) stayed in 91c briefly. It was next seen when Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) and Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi) lived here after she was thrown out of her home by her fianceé, Andy Hunter (Michael Higgs) in December 2004. Minty continues living here with new flatmate, Gary Hobbs (Ricky Groves), after Sam's departure. The doorstop used to kill Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) was hidden in the kitchen cupboard at 91c. SJ Fletcher (Natasha Beaumont) stayed here with Gary and Minty in 2006, to Gary's annoyance. Gary left Walford in August 2009 and Sam, after being released from prison, briefly squatted in 91c over New Year in 2010 because she is hiding from police after breaking her bail conditions. Minty was the only one who knew she was there until he confessed to Sam's cousin, Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and she took Sam to the police. In September 2010, Minty left the square, after troubles with Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) and Sam.

Turpin Way
editTurpin Way is the street that runs next to 47 Albert Square. It is also home to the Walford playground.
Walford Community Centre
editWalford Community Centre (previously Walford Gym) is a community centre, that is often used for the local schools use or for a keep-fit class.[8] In the 2013 summer holidays, Ava Hartman (Clare Perkins) began running an activity centre with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty)'s help, leading to Whitney deciding she wants to begin helping at Walford Primary School.
Mitchell's Autos
editMitchell's Autos ("The Arches", previously Branning's Autos) is the local garage, located at 2 Turpin Way, that was launched in 1990 by brothers Grant and Phil Mitchell (Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden). There are normally four mechanics, including the owner(s). It was previously to store the stalls from Bridge Street Market. Grant and Phil took on Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) as an apprentice mechanic and he later became a fully trained mechanic. Phil was thrown into vehicle pit by Grant after he discovered Phil's affair with his wife Sharon (Letitia Dean). Phil later gave his godson, Jamie Mitchell (Jack Ryder) a job here, when he arrived in 1998 and the following year, Grant leaves the square. Ricky left the square after being dissatisfied with his life, in 2000. Garry Hobbs begins working at The Arches, in 2001 and the following year, Jamie was killed by Martin Fowler (James Alexandrou) accidentally. In 2003, Phil leaves the square, leaving Garry alone. However, Phil's friend Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi) is employed here shortly after his departure, with the next addition to team being Carly Wicks (Kellie Shirley) in February 2006.
Carly stopped working here in December 2007, after her dad's death and planned to return in the New Year, but decided to leave the square instead. Ricky returned to the square in 2008 and asked Phil for his job back - to which Phil allowed him to have, as they were still in need of someone to replace Carly. Garry left the square in August 2009 and Minty left in September 2010. Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) was adopted by Phil and given a home and job, in 2011 and shortly after, Ricky left the square for work in Dubai. He returned, permanently in December 2011, however he left the following month, after problems at home. AJ Ahmed (Paul Sharma) moved to the square in late 2012 and Phil employed him as a mechanic. Dexter Hartman (Khali Best) moved to the square in January 2013 and Phil employed him. Phil was once again hit and knocked into the vehicle pit, but by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) - once again over a dispute about Sharon.[8] Following this, Jay is made the manager of The Arches. AJ leaves the square in January 2014, leaving only three mechanics working at The Arches.
In January 2015, Dexter leaves Walford and Phil's son Ben (Harry Reid) replaces him. Whilst Phil was imprisoned, Max Branning (Jake Wood) tricks Ben into signing The Arches to him - angering the Mitchells. Max renames the business Branning's Autos and continues to employ Jay and Ben. In April, with the assistance of Karin Smart (Denise van Outen), Phil tricks Max into signing The Arches and Deals on Wheels to himself. Phil returns working here, but in late 2015, he began heavily drinking. The Arches was trashed by Phil in a drunken rage in March 2016, but he later returned to working here when he recovered. Jay was disowned by Phil in April, meaning he also lost his job.

Ronnie's Gym
editRonnie's Gym (previously Basher Branning's) is a boxing gym, located at 9 Turpin Way, that was launched by Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd), in February 2011. They name the gym after Jack's father Jim (John Bardon), who was a boxer called Basher Jim. Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) encourages his son, Ben (Joshua Pascoe) to train here and this leads him to meeting Duncan Willis (Steven France]], who kisses him. In September 2013, Jack decides to return to working at Branning Brothers and sells his share of the gym to Michael's estranged wife, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks). She gets Michael's rival, Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy) to keep charge of the gym. When Michael dies, Janine receives his share of the gym and she promises Jim's wife, Dot (June Brown), that she won't be changing the name of the gym. Janine then sells the gym to Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack), after being released from prison, and Ronnie changes the name to Ronnie's Gym, upsetting Dot. The gym is seen less frequently following this.

Turpin Road
editTurpin Road is joined to Bridge Street and runs adjacent to the tube line that crosses the market. At the centre of Turpin Road is the war memorial for Walford, dedicated to soldiers who fought in the World Wars One and Two.
Elysium
editElysium (previously Snooker World, Butcher's Joints and Blades) was originally a snooker hall, located at 2 Turpin Road, owned by Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). It was rarely mentioned within the show, but was where Phil met his shady cilents. Prior to it's closure, in 1999, Phil's cousin Billy (Perry Fenwick) was the manager here. The building then remained empty until 2011 when Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) bought it for her business, Butcher's Joints, after inheriting millions. It is a letting's agency and cleaning company. Janine employs Billy as the operating director and they open for business in October 2011. She employs Rose Cotton (Polly Perkins), Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) as cleaners. Rose quits the following month, Heather is murdered in March and Jean is sacked in May. When Janine gives birth, her husband Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) takes over. In September, Janine leaves and closes the business, but still owns 2 Turpin Road and the letting properties. Janine returns in April 2013 and reopens Butcher's Joints. Billy returns working here and in July, Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) and Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy) are employed as sales assistants. In December, Janine sells several letting properties in order to purchase The Queen Victoria. She is arrested, however, on Christmas Day. Billy continues to run the business with Danny & Lucy. In March, she is found not-guilty and decides to leave, selling the office and her properties. Lucy then uses some of the properties to open her own business, LB Lettings, until her murder in April.
In June, Stan Carter (Timothy West) offers his grandson Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) money to open a salon at this address. Dean then decides to name it Stan's, after his grandfather, but then discovers there is a kebab shop called Stan's. He then decides on the name Blades. He employs three female hairdressers, Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) as a salon assistant and Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) as a hair stylist. When Stacey discovers Dean raped Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), she cuts ties with him, including quitting her job. Dean employs his mother Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) as salon manager and she continues to manage it in his absence from January to April 2015. Stacey, who is struggling to find employment, accepts Shirley's offer of a job whilst Dean is away. When Dean returns in April, Stacey quits and he employs his father Buster Briggs (Karl Howman) as assistant salon manager. He leaves his position months later. Stan died in April 2015, leaving Blades to Dean. In June 2015, Paul Coker (Jonny Labey) enquires about a job and Dean gives both him and Lola trials as hair stylists, with Lola coming out as the successful candidate. However, on the same day, Lola chooses to leave Walford and she quits her job, giving Paul the job. Dean later manipulates his partner, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) into quitting her market trader job and become the assistant salon manager, alongside Shirley. In January 2016, Dean was arrested for the attempted rape of Roxy, but whilst Shirley and Buster did not continue running the business, Paul temporarily took on the role of salon manager and ran the salon. Buster later revealed that Blades was to be sold, with Paul also revealing that he had lost his job due to the closure.
In July 2016, Belinda Peacock (Carli Norris) bought the salon, changing its name to Elysium and turning it into a beauty salon.

editBeale's
editBeale's (previously Eddie's Antiques Emporium and Scarlett's) is currently a burger restaurant, located at 6-8 Turpin Road. It is owned by Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and his ex-wife, Jane (Laurie Brett). It was originally an antiques emporium, owned by Eddie Moon (David Essex) and run by him and his sons Tyler and Anthony (Tony Discipline and Matt Lapinskas). Eddie wanted to move his business onto the square from Upton Park, but couldn't find any premisses. He later discovers a squatter squatting in here and decides he'll move his business here, in July 2011. Tyler arrives to help him, shortly followed by Anthony. Eddie leaves the square in October, but continues to own his business. Tyler and Anthony continue to run this, until Anthony sells the premisses to Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) in a poker match. He then leaves the square and Tyler collects everything from the emporium. Tyler then moves the business to a market stall. Derek doesn't make use of the premisses and dies at Christmas 2012.
Months later, Ian decides to launch a restaurant, which he planned to call Ian Beale @ Le Square. Sam James (Cornell S John) helped Ian convert the emporium into a restaurant. Ian was struggling to pay for his restaurant and when he found £10,000 of Derek's, he stole it. However, he was still in need of money so he went into partnership with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and tricked his daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater) into signing all her businesses, which were originally his, to him. Lucy discovered this, on the opening night, but was interrupted by her brother Peter (Ben Hardy)'s return. On the opening night, Ian unveiled the sign where it said "Scarlett's" after Janine's daughter Scarlett Moon (Amelie). Janine then revealed to Ian she had reordered everything with the name "Scarlett's" on it. Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Poppy Meadow (Rachel Bright) are employed as waitresses along with Lucy and Peter. Ian was the chef, alongside Jake Stone (Jamie Lomas) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright). Jean quits as does Whitney, Poppy and Lauren.
When Lauren goes to an alcoholic clinic, her sister Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) covers some of her shifts. In December 2013, Janine is arrested and decides she will sell some of her properties so she can afford a good lawyer. A desperate Ian asks his recently returned, ex-wife, Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) to buy Janine's share. She initially decides against it, but changes her mind and buys it. They then change the name to Beale's and into a family burger restaurant. They employed Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) as a chef, after Jake's departure and Lauren and Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) as waiters, following Lucy's murder. Masood quits his job at the restaurant so that he can open a market stall, but uses the restaurant kitchen to cook his food. Peter and Lauren left Walford in February 2015, while Jane begins a more prominent role in the restaurant. Fatboy was killed in December 2015. In February 2016, Ian announced that he would be selling the restaurant in order to pay for his son's boarding school fees, but changed his mind in April. Lauren returned to Walford in May 2016 with Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) and they began working at Beale's. Kyle Slater (Riley Carter Millington) was also employed as the chef.

In for a Penny
editIn for a Penny (previously Walford Post Office & Gilly's Massage Parlour) is a discount store, located at 7 Turpin Road that is seen as a background shop. It was first seen as Walford Post Office and was run by Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia), upon her arrival in July 2007. Zainab was assisted by Denise Wicks (Diane Parish) and the office's postman was her husband, Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra). The post office was closed after cuts, leaving the Masoods jobless, but Masood continued as the business' postman elsewhere. The building later became Gilly's Massage Parlour for a while - to the consternation of Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor)[8], before becoming discount store, In for a Penny.

The Albert
editThe Albert (previously The Dagmar, Meal Machine, SophistiKate's, Booty, Roxy's, Beauty and Pearls) is currently an upmarket cocktail bar, situated at 10 Turpin Road, owned by Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) and Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood). Originally an old disused pub, James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde) purchases it and turns it into a suave wine-bar called The Dagmar. He employs the former landlady of rival pub The Queen Victoria, Angie Watts (Anita Dobson) as manageress - much to the chagrin of current landlord (and Angie's ex-husband) Den (Leslie Grantham). They opened for business in June 1987. The following year, they began losing business so James employs young bartenders, Simon Wicks and Kathy Beale (Nick Berry and Gillian Taylforth). After Kathy argues with Pete one night, James invites her here for a glass of wine after work. When it becomes clear that he is trying to seduce her, she attempts to leave. However, he will not take no for an answer and the seduction ends in rape. Den discovers what has happened after Kathy tells him. Den then watches The Firm throw a fire-bomb into the Dagmar and the place catches fire, in 1988. James is later imprisoned for Kathy's rape, in May 1989.
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) buys the building and turns it into the first of many restaurants, called The Meal Machine. In 1991, Ian briefly employed Joe Wallace (Jason Rush) until learning he was HIV-positive. When Ian becomes bankrupt, in 2000, he loses all his businesses, including Meal Machine. It then became a discount store for several years. Kate Morton decides to set up a nail salon called SophistiKate's here, in 2003 and the following year, Kate goes into partnership with Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), who brings a hairdressing element to the business. Shortly after discovering a fling between Kate and husband, Den, Chrissie smashes up the salon and leaves. She returns and calls a truce with Kate. In January 2005, Kate decides to leave the square, but Chrissie continues to run the business alone. However, she is imprisoned at Christmas 2005. After Max Branning (Jake Wood) cheats on his wife, Tanya (Jo Joyner), he decides to buy the salon and Tanya turns it into a beauty salon called Booty. Tanya manages to get rival salon's top beautician, Preeti Choraria (Babita Pohoomull), to work at Booty and also employs: Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin), in May 2006; Gaynor Lucas (Kathleen Frazer), in December 2007; Amira Shah (Preeya Kalidas), in May 2009. After Christmas 2007, Preeti didn't return to work because she'd left the square. Gaynor replaced Chelsea in the salon, after her imprisonment. Tanya's sister-in-law, Suzy (Maggie O'Neill) looks after the salon, while Max and Tanya are on holiday, in 2008. Amira quits in September. Tanya continues to run Booty until Christmas 2009, when she leaves the square after Max cheats again. This leaves Gaynor jobless.
Off-screen, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) decides to buy the salon, with the money she inherited from her father Archie (Larry Lamb), from Tanya and she opens for business in 2010. Gaynor continues working here and Amira is employed by Roxy, in February 2010. Amira quits in March and the following month, Chelsea is employed to take over Amira. However, Chelsea leaves in August, with her aunt Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) replacing her. Jodie Gold (Kylie Babbington) was employed in June 2010. Kim was fired in February 2011. In April 2011, Roxy sells the salon to Tanya's husband Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth) who gives it to Tanya as a wedding present. Gaynor and Jodie continue working here and Tanya employs Jodie's friend, Poppy Meadow (Rachel Bright) as a receptionist for the salon, before seeing her beauty talents and employing here as a beautician. Roxy later persuades Tanya to hire Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) as a salon assistant. Still in need of a receptionist, Tanya gets her daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) to work as one, to keep her busy, but Lauren shortly quits. Poppy and Jodie leave in November, but Poppy returns in June 2012. In December, Bianca Butcher (Patsy Palmer) returns from prison, having gained a hair & beauty qualification, looking for a job at Booty. Lola also decides to ask Tanya for a promotion.
Tanya tells them that they will both trial for the job and whoever does best can have the job. Bianca quits before Christmas and in January, Lola is told she is the new beautician. In June 2013, Tanya leaves the square for Exeter. Booty remains open until August, when Sadie Young (Kate Magowan) buys the salon and calls it Beauty. She allows Gaynor, Lola and Poppy to continue their role here. Lauren asks Sadie for a job as a receptionist, but she tells Lauren she hasn't got the money. Max then offers to pay for Lauren's shifts, to which Sadie agrees. This arrangement stops when Max is imprisoned. In January 2014, Sadie leaves after discovering her husband, Jake Stone (Jamie Lomas)'s affair with Lauren. This leaves Gaynor, Poppy and Lola jobless & annoyed with Lauren. In March, Sharon Rickman and Phil Mitchell (Letitia Dean and Steve McFadden) buy the building and name it The Albert. Sharon employs four bartenders, including The Queen Victoria's barman Johnny Carter and Curtis (Sam Strike and Winston Showan). To re-assert his authority and demonstrate Sharon's vulnerability, Phil hires two men to vandalise the bar, but his plan goes awry when Sharon sacks the bouncers Phil employs to intercept the attack. Sharon confronts the vandals alone; they critically injure her and she is hospitalised with a ruptured spleen. While she is in hospital and too scared to go outside, Roxy manages the bar. Sharon soon returns though and promotes Johnny to bar manager.
In December 2014, Johnny left for a new life in Italy. In June 2015, Phil signs over The Albert to Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood) in return for his silence over the murder of Carl White (Daniel Coonan). When Sharon finds out about this, she demands that Vincent sign her original share to her. Vincent does so and also employs wife Kim (Tameka Empson) as the bar manager. The two engage in a petty feud, but resolve this. Due to some family issues, Sharon was unable to take a central role in the bar which resulted in Vincent renaming the bar, Pearls, without the Mitchell's knowledge. Phil then attacks Vincent because of what he has done and orders him to revert the name, which he immediately does. In late 2015, Vincent's mother Claudette (Ellen Thomas) began assisting at the bar and Vincent also employed Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) in a bid to get closer to her. Sharon sold her share of the bar to Vincent in March 2016, whilst Claudette and Ronnie have been shown to stop working here.

It was originally a video shop ran by Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), called Walford Videos. Nigel left Walford in April 1988 and Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) replaced him not long after. Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) uses dirty tactics to take Robbie's job, but he quits in 1999. There is no known shopkeeper from 1999 until 2004, when Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) takes over the position & moves into the flat above. From August to October 2003, Gavin Sharp (Steve Nicolson) worked here as a shop assistant. Billy quit the job in 2005 and the shop closed shortly after.
The building remained empty until 2007 when off-screen character, Manju Patel, turned it into a fashion shop selling head scarves. This closes in 2013 and months later, it is shown to be a pharmacy. Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) went for an interview here, but didn't get the job. Beale's Plaice
editBeale's Plaice (previously Green Lantern Chinese) is a fish and chip shop, located at 15 Turpin Road and currently owned by Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt). It was originally a chinese takeaway called Green Lantern Chinese and in 1995, Ian bought it - turning it into a "chippy". Ian is declared bankrupt in 2000 and Ian's wife, Laura (Hannah Waterman) buys the chippy for Ian. Ian buys the chippy back from Laura in 2002. A named extra, Jo, has worked here since 2003. After he suffers a breakdown, Ian disappears - leaving his daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater) running the chippy, but when he returns Lucy makes him put everything in her name. Ian later tricks Lucy into signing things back over to him in 2013, and not much later his son Peter (Ben Hardy) returns and begins working here occasionally, as does Lucy. Lucy stops this when she is murdered in April 2014. Ian employs Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and before Lucy's death, was caught stealing fish. Peter left Walford in February 2015 and Max Branning (Jake Wood) was offered a job here in August, until he was imprisoned.

In April 2014, Pam Coker (Lin Blakely)'s flower stall was moved from Spring Lane Market to Bridge Street Market. Les then chose to move himself, Pam and their business, Coker & Sons Funeral Directors to their Turpin Road premise. Victoria Road
edit55 Victoria Road
edit55 Victoria Road ("Pytchley") was originally owned by Julie Cooper's grandmother, and Julie inherited it upon her death. She sold it to the Karim family in 1989 and it was later bought by Rachel Kominski in 1990. Michelle Fowler lodged with her daughter Vicki as did Shelley Lewis, until Michelle's brother Mark bought the house in 1995. Mark then lived here with his wife Ruth, although they rented the property to Huw Edwards and Lenny Wallace from 1996 for a year to earn some extra money. During Huw and Lenny's tenancy, Alan Jackson stayed in the house, as did the singer Frankie Pierre. Mark and Ruth returned to the premises in 1997. Their foster daughter Jessie Moore lived with them for a brief period and Louise Raymond lodged here with Ruth and so did Mark's cousin Conor Flaherty. Ruth and Mark's marriage broke down in 1999 and he moved out. Ruth moved to Scotland in 1999 after having an affair with Conor and becoming pregnant by him, so Mark moved back in.
Garry Hobbs and his fiancée Lynne lived with Mark for a while and Lisa Shaw moved in after falling out with her boyfriend Phil Mitchell. Lisa and Mark lived together with Lisa and Phil's daughter Louise. Lisa later got back with Phil, and Mark went travelling in February 2003, so the house was left empty for a while. The Ferreira family moved in, in 2003, but the house was repossessed and they were forced to move out a year later. The house was then bought by Ian Beale who lived here with wife Jane and children Lucy, Peter and Bobby. Ian's younger brother Ben stayed here when Ian brought him back from South Africa, in 2006, after his mother and stepfather were killed, but he later decided to live with his father, Phil at the Queen Vic. Ian, Jane and the children moved into 45 Albert Square, in 2007, and the house was rented to Danny and Jess Fuller. The Fullers have since left Walford to be nearer their daughter's school, leaving the property empty.
Denise and Kevin Wicks approached Ian about buying number 55, but Kevin died and Denise left, so doubtless that the arrangement has fallen through. In February 2009, Ian revealed he was renting the property again although the occupants remain unknown, and in November 2010, Phil Mitchell bought the house and began living there, with his partner, Shirley Carter, his relative, Billy Mitchell and Billy's foster son, Jay Brown. Phil's son, Ben returns from a stint in prison and begins living here. Jay is later adopted by Phil and in 2011, Billy moves out. Ben murders Heather Trott in March 2012, but Phil & Jay help him keep it secret. In August, it is revealed that Ben killed her and that Jay & Phil covered it up so Ben is imprisoned for manslaughter, Jay is rejected by everyone and Shirley leaves Phil in disgust. When Sharon Rickman returns to the square, she and her son, Dennis, briefly stay with Phil.
When Billy's great-granddaughter, Lexi Pearce is taken away from her mother, Lola by social services and revealed as Ben's daughter, Phil begins a fight for Lexi and he eventually wins so Lexi begins living with Phil, in early 2013. However, Lexi is returned to Lola in spring 2013. Phil begins a relationship with Sharon Rickman in July 2013 and she moves in with her son, Dennis. Phil's cousin, Ronnie Mitchell is released from prison in September 2013 and she moves in, shortly after Phil is involved in a major crash. Ronnie's sister, Roxy moves in with her daughter, Amy after the breakdown of her marriage to Alfie Moon. In November 2013, Shirley briefly stays here with her sister, Tina, much to Sharon's displeasure and Jay also moves back in.
Ronnie, Roxy and Amy go to Ibiza in January 2014 and they returned two months later, but they move into 27 Albert Square in April 2014. In September, Ben returns in time for Phil & Sharon's wedding, and the following month saw Jay fall out with Phil and briefly move into 5 Albert Square. He soon returned and in January 2015, Phil is arrested for the attempted murder of Ronnie and the murder charge of DC Emma Summerhayes (Anna Acton). He is released in February, but doesn't return to the square. He does turn up weeks later, briefly, with his mother, Peggy (Barbara Windsor), but doesn't stay. Shortly after, Ben's girlfriend Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) moves in. He does return permanently in late March 2015. Sharon regularly moves herself and Dennis in and out when she argues with Phil. However, when he is responsible for the accident that left Dennis fighting for his life, Sharon splits up with Phil and moves out in January 2016. However, when Phil is released from hospital, Ronnie is shocked to discover that Sharon would be moving back in and exiling Phil from the family. Phil later moved back in and Sharon and Dennis moved out. Phil's daughter Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) moved in in March, whilst Abi moved out. Jay was exiled from the family in April following his regestration onto the Sex Offenders Register. In May, Phil's terminally ill mother Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) began staying with the Mitchells. It was in the house where Peggy decided to end her life and took an overdose of medication. Sharon and Phil reunited following Peggy's death and she and Dennis moved back in. Sam and Ricky Mitchell (Daniella Westbrook and Henri Charles) stayed with Phil briefly in June for Peggy's funeral.
