September 2023 edit

  1. Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Archive debates/June index: nominated at RfD; Target: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Archive debates/2007 June index (notified); notified Rick Block (talk · contribs) 11:42, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Looks like a historical R from move - the target page was only at this title for a few minutes it seems. I propose that this redirect be deleted due to being ambiguous with other CfD June discussion indexes. As far as I can see, this title has no
      wikilinks. Best,

December 2023 edit

  1. 2023 Rainbow Bridge loss-of-control Bentley crash resulting in fiery explosion: nominated at RfD; Target: 2023 Rainbow Bridge explosion (notified); notified Jax 0677 (talk · contribs) 10:01, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Proposing deletion: this redirect title is (in my opinion) too descriptive/includes too many details to be a useful search term. The target section also (at least currently) doesn’t mention the make of car; and the inclusion of loss of control in the title implies that this is what caused the crash, when (as far as I can see) that’s not yet been officially determined. Best,
  2. Template:R to song: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from album (notified); notified Tantamounts (talk · contribs) 03:02, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
    • Reason: Proposing deletion as a potentially ambiguous rcat redirect. A redirect to a song is not necessarily a redirect from an album, and (from a brief search) there doesn't appear to be a more appropriate rcat that this could be retargeted to. Best,

January 2024 edit

  1. Category:Belgian political terms: nominated at CfDS (C2C); New name: Category:Political terminology in Belgium 14:55, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
  2. Category:Political terms in the United Kingdom: nominated at CfDS (C2C); New name: Category:Political terminology in the United Kingdom 15:02, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
  3. Category:Fictional characters with bulimia: nominated at CfDS (C2D); New name: Category:Fictional characters with bulimia nervosa 21:07, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
  4. The Beekeeper: nominated at RM; New name: The Beekeeper (album) 16:46, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: <edited the RM nomination since making it through Twinkle, see the talk page for details>
  5. User talk:SmartKitten: nominated at MfD 22:33, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This is the talk page of one of my doppelganger accounts. I used it to test a custom Twinkle welcome before I was aware that User talk:Sandbox for user warnings existed. I tagged it for speedy deletion under G6 & G7, but it was declined - hence the filing at MfD. As the talk page isn't for an editing user, there are no other messages in the history, & the messages left were for testing purposes, there's no harm (as far as I can see) in deleting it. It's not the end of the world if it's not deleted, of course; I'd just prefer it if it was to keep things tidy :) Any queries let me know. All the best,
  6. Hackney North and Stoke Newington: nominated at RM; New name: Hackney North and Stoke Newington (disambiguation) 23:44, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

February 2024 edit

  1. Talk:The Game (mind game): nominated at RM; New name: The Game (game) 04:03, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
  2. Template:R from project: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from subsidiary (notified); notified SMcCandlish (talk · contribs) 00:16, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Potentially ambiguous rcat redirect, considering that {{R to project}} redirects to {{R to project namespace}}. I'm also not sure that one thing being a project of another thing necessarily implies that the former is a subsidiary of the latter - for example, a person could be said to have a project, but such a project wouldn't be considered a subsidiary of that person. For these reasons, I propose deletion. All the best,
  3. Template:Mop: nominated at TfD (merge); Other template: Template:Icon; notified OlEnglish (talk · contribs) 22:20, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This template is a 16x16px admin mop icon, primarily used on Wikipedia:Missing Wikipedians. I propose merging it into Module:Icon/data (with the code admin & the alias mop - or the other way around), both for consistency - to have Wikipedia-related icons accessible from one template - and because it meets the scope at {{icon/doc}} as an inline image that is used in metapages. After merging, I propose turning {{mop}} into a wrapper template for {{icon|mop}} as the functional equivalent of an {{R from move}}; given the length of time a template at this name has existed and been used for, and given how many times it's called at WP:MWP.
Let me know if there are any queries. All the best,

March 2024 edit

  1. Template:R from subtitle: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from more specific name (notified); notified Steel1943 (talk · contribs) 09:55, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: I'm concerned that this rcat redirect is ambiguous. The term subtitle seems likely to be thought of as referring to a subtitle on its own, but it's clear from previous discussion on the redirect's talk page that - when it was created - this rcat-redirect was intended for use on pages with titles in the form Title: Subtitle. The ambiguity is shown from this rcat's incorrect referencing in comments during RfDs for Outdoor Retreat (2017 discussion) & Animal Parade (2022 discussion), other comments made on the redirect's talk page, and the 20 redirects from a subtitle on its own that are tagged with this rcat-redirect.
This ambiguity is problematic, as it means that redirects from subtitles on their own are being tagged as more specific versions of the target names; when the opposite is likely true. Because of this, and because the rcat {{R from subtitle}} can plausibly refer to both a title-subtitle combination and a subtitle on its own, I propose that it is deleted. (I noticed that there was talk-page discussion on the possibility of this becoming an rcat of its own - however, if desired, something similar could still be achieved with [e.g.] {{R from full name}}, which wouldn't have the same issues regarding ambiguity.)
If consensus is found to delete this redirect, I propose that the redirects currently tagged with {{R from subtitle}} have that rcat replaced with {{R from full name}} (with the exception of the redirects at this list, which I propose have the rcat replaced with {{R from incomplete name}}). I also propose that Template talk:R from subtitle is marked as {{G8-exempt}}, due to containing discussion that may be useful for reference (& potentially for future rcats).
Let me know if there are any queries. All the best.

April 2024 edit

  1. Category:Redirects from translations: nominated at CfD (CfR); renaming to Category:Redirects from alternative translations; notified Rigadoun (talk · contribs) 18:15, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
  2. Hollywood and the Republic of Ireland: nominated at RfD; Target: Hollywood and the United Kingdom (notified); notified Vanderwaalforces (talk · contribs) 10:31, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Recently accepted at WP:AFC/R, but - as far as I can see - the target page doesn't include any mention of Ireland. Proposing deletion per WP:R#D10/WP:REDLINK. All the best,
  3. Hollywood and the United Kingdom and Ireland: nominated at RfD; Target: Hollywood and the United Kingdom (notified); notified Vanderwaalforces (talk · contribs) 10:41, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: [nominating this through Twinkle, will bundle more in soon]
Recently accepted at WP:AFC/R, but - as far as I can see - the target article only contains information about the United Kingdom, not Ireland. In addition, if Hollywood and the Republic of Ireland existed as an article, it would be unclear whether a reader was looking for information about Hollywood and the UK, or about Hollywood and Ireland. I'm therefore proposing deletion per WP:XY & WP:R#D2, as the inclusion of Ireland in these redirects (when it isn't mentioned at the target article) could cause confusion. All the best,
  4. Talk:Mewing (orthotropics): nominated at RM; New name: Mewing (orthodontics) 10:57, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Judging by our redirect from orthotropics, it seems that the current qualifier is a sub-class of orthodontics associated with (and potentially coined/created by) John Mew. I'm therefore proposing to change the parenthetical disambiguation from orthotropics to orthodontics so as to use a more generic class of disambiguator (per point 3 under WP:NCDAB), a likely more commonly known term, and a potentially more neutral qualifier than one strongly associated with one of this technique's creators. All the best,
  5. Template:R to artist: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from work (notified); notified Trivialist (talk · contribs) 16:01, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This redirect was created in September 2023. I'm proposing deletion, as a potentially ambiguous rcat-redirect. A redirect to an artist is not necessarily a redirect from a creative work, and I'm not aware of a more appropriate rcat template that this could be retargeted to. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 16:01, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
  6. Template:R to publisher: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from work (notified); notified Invasive Spices (talk · contribs) 16:17, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: This redirect was created in October 2022. I'm proposing deletion, as - like the nomination below this one - this rcat-redirect is potentially ambiguous: a redirect to a publisher is not necessarily a redirect from a creative work.
Unlike the nomination listed below, this redirect has been to RfD before; with a discussion that did not receive comments other than from the nominator and the page creator, and which resulted in a 'no consensus' close. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 16:17, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
  7. Template:R subtopic: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from subtopic (notified); notified Mclay1 (talk · contribs) 12:43, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
  8. Template:R subpage: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from subpage (notified); notified Paine Ellsworth (talk · contribs) 12:44, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: [bundle]
  9. Template:R plural: nominated at RfD; Target: Template:R from plural (notified); notified Prahlad balaji (talk · contribs) 12:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: [bundle]

May 2024 edit

  1. Template:R from gender: nominated at RM; New name: Template:R from gendered term 09:15, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: The current title, {{R from gender}}, was a little confusing to me - at first, the name suggested to me that this template might be for categorizing redirects from the name of a gender identity. I propose moving it to the more specific title {{R from gendered term}}, in order to clarify the purpose of this redirect template and remove the potential ambiguity. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 09:15, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
  2. Category:Redirects from gender: nominated at CfD (CfR); renaming to Category:Redirects from gendered terms; notified TheThingy (talk · contribs) 09:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
  3. Romani people in Pristina: nominated at RfD; Target: Demographics of Pristina (notified); notified Queen of Hearts (talk · contribs) 14:39, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Recently accepted at WP:AFC/R. As far as I can see, the target article contains little to no information about the Romani people - therefore, I'm inclined to think that this would be better off as a red link/being deleted per WP:R#D10. While Romani people in Kosovo does exist as an article, that article doesn't seem to contain information about Pristina specifically, and so wouldn't be much help to readers searching for information about the Romani community in that area. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 14:39, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
  4. Romani people in Paris: nominated at RfD; Target: Demographics of Paris (notified) 14:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Recently created at WP:AFC/R. The target section contains very little information about the Romani people in Paris - only the line There is a Romani community in Paris. I'm inclined to think that this might be better off being a red link/being deleted per WP:R#D10, as the target article contains virtually no information on the subject of the Romani community in Paris. While Romani people in France does exist as an article, it doesn't mention Paris (other than briefly/in passing in the History section), and so also doesn't contain much information on the subject of the Romani people in Paris. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 14:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
  5. Getting Out Our Dreams II LLC: nominated at RfD; Target: GOOD Music (notified); notified Vanderwaalforces (talk · contribs) 06:45, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Recently created at WP:AFC/R. My concerns regarding these redirects are the same as I left as a comment there: judging from this 2022 Variety article, I'm not sure that this is the same company - the fact that Getting Out Our Dreams II, LLC is referenced in that article as a variation on the name of his earlier label, Getting Out Our Dreams makes me feel like this company might not be the same thing as GOOD Music. If it isn't the same company, I worry that having this redirect might cause confusion to our readers, by implying to those who are redirected from this term that this is a company name for the GOOD Music we have an article on (which, according to this RS, would seem to be incorrect). I'm not sure what the best thing to do here is, so bringing to RfD for more thoughts, but would lean in favour of deletion if a better solution can't be found. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 06:45, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
  6. Getting Out Our Dreams II, LLC: nominated at RfD; Target: GOOD Music 06:46, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: [bundle]
  7. "Undead" (Yoasobi song): nominated at RfD; Target: Yoasobi discography (notified) 19:50, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Procedural renomination. For context, this redirect was nominated yesterday, but that discussion was closed early due to a speedy deletion that has now been undone. The page previously at this title (which had article history) was moved without a redirect to Undead (Yoasobi song) after being undeleted, and I recreated a redirect from this title. This is a procedural nomination only, I do not personally wish for this redirect to be deleted.
Pinging participants in the previous RfD, and the previous page's creator (given that they were notified about the previous RfD on their talk page): PepeBonus, CycloneYoris, KjjjKjjj. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 19:50, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
  8. Kadhum Auda: nominated at AfD; notified Banhtrung1 (talk · contribs) 01:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: Does not appear to meet WP:SPORTSCRIT. The current archived reference seems to only be a single sentence database entry, and a WP:BEFORE search revealed only similarly trivial mentions/database entries.
As an aside, I believe that this is the first article I have nominated for deletion, so please let me know if I have missed something here. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 01:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
  9. List of film accents considered the worst: nominated at RfD; Target: English-language accents in film (notified); notified Erik (talk · contribs) 18:52, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Reason: There is no information that I can see at the target regarding film accents considered the worst or best - just a general page regarding English-language accents in film. These redirects may therefore be confusing to readers using them, who would expect to find such information at the destination article. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 18:52, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
