Fortis Turkey CupTürkiye Kupası — All other major football competitions are under the unsponsored name, eg Football League Cup not "Carling Cup", Coppa Italia not "TIM Cup", I see no compelling reason why this one should be treated any differently — ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The result of the proposal was consensus to move.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:01, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Turkish Cup

edit

The name of this article must be the "Turkish Cup"... No one understands "Türkiye Kupası" (except the Turks) in English. Böri (talk) 14:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

2010 Turkish Cup Final

edit

I see no reason why this particular year would be notable enough to justify it's own article. It should be merged with the main Turkish Cup article. LeilaniLad (talk) 01:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Individual finals can be notable enough for an article, assuming that they have been well-covered by reliable sources. The problem in the short term is that people will just add the team line-ups and match score but very little else (and I have been guilty of this myself sometimes) so we have lots of match articles that are basically stubs. But as shown at 1956 FA Cup Final and others, it is possible for a cup final article to attain featured status, so it may be worth first trying to find what information is out there. --Jameboy (talk) 16:32, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it's notable enough to be honest. I could understand an article about the FA Cup final because it's much more popular and it's more renowned worldwide, whereas the Turkish Cup is pretty much limited to the country. As it stands now, the article is just a lead with line-ups. The other finals (2008 Turkish Cup Final, 2007 Turkish Cup Final) are just a few paragraphs. I think it would be a good idea to, instead of merging into the main article, have it merged with that seasons article. This way the season article as well as the final could make for a fine article in itself, instead of having separate short articles scattered around. Invisibletr (talk) 01:35, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm okay with this merger. — Ekin(talk·@) 19:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Türkiye KupasıTurkish Cup Relisted. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:43, 4 July 2010 (UTC) Competition is know as Turkish Cup in English, so should be moved there, according to WP:UCN. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 09:51, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I oppose this move. Copa del Rey isn't called the Cup of Kings, Coppa Italia isn't called the Italian Cup, so the Türkiye Kupası shouldn't be called the Turkish Cup. Invisibletr (talk) 17:08, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Comment Copa del Rey and Coppa Italia are the names commonly used in English (see here and here) but the Turkish equivalent is commonly known as the Turkish Cup in English (see here), not Türkiye Kupası. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 15:15, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I just find it a bit weird that we would have Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup (instead of Süper Lig and Türkiye Kupası. Invisibletr (talk) 15:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
