Happy to be challenged on, or to discuss, any of my review comments. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 14:36, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Copyvio check - I reviewed all matches above 2% from Earwig's Copyvio Detector. No issues found.
  • Images - none used. A using a popular engine did not find any suitable free/CC images that could be used.

Infobox

  • Replace the Twitter source for the nickname "Belter" with an independent source.   Done
  • Consider including her nickname in the body article so that it can be cited there rather than in the infobox.
    • A boxer's nickname is usually expanded upon in the lead and cited there, but I can't find any sources that explain her nickname. I suppose I could start the professional career section with "Nicknamed "Belter", Harper made her professional debut..." Thoughts?
      • As we don't know how or when she got the nickname, fine to keep the citation in the infobox. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Nationality, date of birth and place of birth are uncited. I 'd suggest including date and place of birth at the start of the early life section and citing them there.  Done
    • I've added date and place of birth to the section with two sources (I couldn't find one that mentioned both). As for nationality, I've recently found out (can't remember the particular MOS) that it can be omitted if it's the same as the place of birth, so I've removed it. – 2.O.Boxing 11:08, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • In the spirit of WP:INFOBOXCITE, the reference for her summary boxing record would be better placed at "Professional record summary" under the "Professional boxing record" section. However, for height and some of the other info, a citation in the infobox seems OK to me if the info is not included in the article body.  Done
    • Sorry, I've changed my mind, I hadn't realised that the table template wouldn't support a reference being inside so I've put it back to how it was as that looks better than a floating reference. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:35, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • "Stance: Orthodox" is uncited.  Done

Early Life / Amateur Career

  • Seems generally fine. I had a quick search for additional sources and didn't find much.
  • Add something before "never looked back since" to show that it was Harper herself that used this phrase, e.g. "has stated that she has "never looked back since".[5]   Done
  • Could link "silver medal" to Silver medal
    • My personal opinion is that almost every English-speaking reader would know that a silver medal means second place, so I tend not to link bronze, silver or gold per MOS:OL. I also believe this is common across most articles where medals are mentioned. I'd be happy to link if there's a precedence though.
      • Fair. I looked at a few boxing GAs just now and they didn't have this linked. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Could link "boxing" in "She got into boxing" to Boxing   Not done
    • Same as above; I think if a reader doesn't know what boxing/boxer is, then they probably don't have a good grasp of the English language. I've seen more experienced editors than myself (including admins) remove links to boxing/boxer per MOS:OL. (Side note: we tend to link professional and amateur as they're considerably different)
      • Again, accepted. The sample of boxing GAs I checked since this review didn't have this linked. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Could link "professional" in "the professional side" to Professional boxing, as is already done in the lead.   Done
  • Could link "promoter" to Promoter (entertainment)   Done

Professional career

  • I suggest omitting "South African" for consistency with mentions of other opponents in the article.  Done
  • "knocked Wahlström to the canvas" might be unclear to some readers. Consider rewording, or wikilinking something.  Done
  • "contested for a world title" - doesn't read quite right to me - "contested a world title" might be better, or you might convince me that the current wording is fine.  Done

Professional boxing record

  • Complies with the essay on style section Wikipedia:WikiProject_Boxing/MOSGuidelines#Professional_boxing_record. I note that the style guide says "Although references are not needed within the table, be prepared to provide one if challenged on anything in particular, especially if it contradicts BoxRec" - I expected to request a "refs" column, but it seems that all the information there has already been cited elsewhere in the article. However, you could still consider creating a references column on the table to encourage anyone else adding to the article to remember to cite info.
    • If the information contradicts the BoxRec source, and if the information isn't referenced in the article body, we usually add any references to the notes column. – 2.O.Boxing 15:41, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Personal Life

  • Seems fine.

Sources

  • No issues with quality of sources, other than the Twitter one mentioned above. Spot checks for verification were all good.
  • "Boxing record for Terri Harper". BoxRec. is lacking a Retrieved date.
    • The link in "External links" is a template with a BoxRec ID number, so a retrieved date can't be added. – 2.O.Boxing 15:41, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Optional change: The Star references could be consistent.  Done
  • Optional change: Could run IAbot, because Wikipedia:Link rot  Done
    • The bot completed its run. ID 8017. – 2.O.Boxing 15:46, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Lead

  • Per MOS:LEAD, I think that "As of May 2021, Harper is ranked as the world's best active female super-featherweight by The Ring and second by BoxRec." Should be included in the body and cited there (and retained in the lead without being cited there.
    • As rankings (more often than not) change on a monthly basis, they can be reasonably challenged. So per MOS:CITELEAD, I think the information would require a citation regardless if it's in the article body or not. And I wouldn't be in favour of removing the rankings from the lead altogether as I think top-ten rankings are deemed note-worthy positions in the sporting world. Thoughts? – 2.O.Boxing 14:00, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • I should have written "Should also be included in the body and cited there...". But re-reading the bit of MOSLEAD I had in mind, Apart from basic facts, significant information should not appear in the lead if it is not covered in the remainder of the article there is a case for saying that these, in context, are basic facts. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:35, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • The lead is fairly short - I'd suggest adding more in the way of a summary of her boxing career. Maybe brief details of the most significant contests.  Done
    • Just to note, I've left out the opponent's name (Nozipho Bell) who Harper defeated for the vacant IBO title as Bell is undoubtedly far less of a notable individual than Wahlström. – 2.O.Boxing 13:45, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutrality, OR - no issues.
  • Breadth and depth - fine based on what I see in sources. Article is structured as per WikiProject_Boxing/MOSGuidelines

Thanks for all your work on the article, Squared.Circle.Boxing. I hope the comments are helpful, I think just a few minor points need addressing. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 16:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

IBO edit

Does becoming the IBO World Champion below in the lead? The IBO is not a major boxing organisation. (Fran Bosh (talk) 17:24, 20 May 2023 (UTC))Reply
