She is not Iranian!

edit

Being born in Tehran does not maker her a Persian Jew or have Persian descent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coloseven (talkcontribs) 16:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

One of her parents was Scottish, too. Perhaps we should say she's a Scottish American? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.120.18.131 (talk) 16:51, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

IP reversions

edit

Since 213.112.120.249 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) is continuing to revert edits without reading the edit summaries, I'll enumerate and explain them.

  • - child name from infobox IAW template:personbox SOP
At {{Infobox person}}, it says about the |children= parameter: "Typically the number of children (e.g., 3); only list names of independently notable or particularly relevant children. Names may be preceded by a number to show total children and avoid implying that named children are the only offspring. For multiple entries, use an inline list. For privacy reasons, consider omitting the names of living children, unless notable." As far as I can find in reliable sources, Ms. Maya is not independently notable.
  • + MOS:PUNCTSPACE
That part of the manual of style says, "Some editors type two spaces after a period/full stop; these are condensed to one when the page is rendered, so what the reader sees is not affected – see Sentence spacing." There is no reason or SOP for removing them, and they can help editors parse the code easier.
  • + MOS:GNL
This guideline is simply summed up by "Use gender-neutral language […] where this can be done with clarity and precision." 'Actor' is gender-neutral language; 'actress' is not.
  • - unverified claims
The years of birth and death of Stronach's father are not cited, and may not be included thusly.
  • - IMDb as a source IAW WP:RSP
The perennial sources supplement to the reliable sources guideline says that consensus has determined re the IMDb: "The content on IMDb is user-generated, and the site is considered unreliable by a majority of editors."
  • - WP:EASTER
Piping Imperial State of Iran to say "Iran" is an unnecessary piping that introduces ambiguity, and doesn't link to Iran, the current state.
  • + WP:PRECISELANG
Wikipedia:As of is an editing guideline that says "In general, editors should avoid using statements that will date quickly. […] For future and current events use phrases such as "as of March 2007", or "since the start of 2005" which indicate the time-dependence of the information to the reader."

I've undone the IP editor's edits once again, and pointed them to this discussion where I hope they'll engage in the "D" of the WP:BRD (BOLD, revert, discuss cycle). — Fourthords | =Λ= | 22:06, 30 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

No mention of her songs, Fairy Queen and Riding On a Rainbow? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.54.203 (talk) 13:45, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not without reliable sources, first. If you have some sources, you can add them to the article and use them to cite any such information, or feel free to list them here, and I'll take a look at them for inclusion. Lemme know if you have any questions! — Fourthords | =Λ= | 16:34, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Is this Source enough? Discogs - Tami Stronach --Holger-Thies (talk) 19:03, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
According to WP:RSP#Discogs, The content on Discogs is user-generated, and is therefore generally unreliable. There was consensus against deprecating Discogs in a 2019 RfC, as editors noted that external links to the site may be appropriate. That being said, I've now added {{Discogs artist}} to the article's "External links" section. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 19:51, 23 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
And that's why the song doesn't exist? What logic is that! LastFM and German Wikipedia Nr 7 produced by [Siegel] --Holger-Thies (talk) 12:21, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what you're asking. Nobody's saying any songs don't exist. It's just that consensus at the English Wikipedia says that Discogs, Last.fm, and other Wikipedias aren't reliable sources for including information here (because they're all user-generated products). If you want to work towards changing that consensus, I think the best place is the reliable-sources noticeboard. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 15:25, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Actress - Tami Stronach

edit

Hello, how are you, im. sorry i couldn't find any more information on Tami Stronach, and also i thought that the entry rateyourmusoic.com was a reliable entry and i didn't relaise that it wasn't she was really only ever known as a child star in The Neverending Story as the Childlike Empress and she became famous even though her appearance in that film was a mere 3 minutes, the movie Ultra_Low is listed on IMDB, which may also not be reliable, and although that role she is listed as having a starring role, it is a independent film from a small studio, so there may not be much written on it. I have found another article about her, i don't know if this is exceptable either, but gives a few details about her ancestry background, i dont know if she is referred to as American , but she resides in California, and with her family has lived in several countries and the film The Neverending Story was made in Germany, site is Mamamia.com.au/neverending-story-empress-tami-stronach/ .kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.14.227 (talk) 08:08, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

No worries. Because the IMDb is a user-generated source, we can't use it for reliable sourcing; there should be more information about that consensus here: WP:RSP#IMDb. Mamamia looks pretty good, though; that's a great find! I've mined the rest of its content to expand the article. I'm also, though, going to remove "Iranian-born": given her place of birth and her parents' nationality, we cannot make claim to Stronach's nationality without a specific reliable source, but similarly since she isn't herself of Iranian ethnicity, and only lived there until age seven, I think putting that would be undue in the very first sentence of her biography. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 14:40, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

nationality

edit

None of the sources currently used in the article can cite Stronach's nationality. When Kjell Knudde (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) added such categories on 17 May 2023 in contravention of Wikipedia:Categorization#Verifiable, I reverted them 23 minutes later pointing to WP:CATV. Instead of coming to this talk page IAW WP:BRD, Kjell Knudde returned on 18 May 2023 to add even more nationality categories, even though the article doesn't support them. I'm hoping that somebody has a source for Stronach's citizenship of both Iran and the US, so that it can be added to support the new categorizations. I'm also happy to incorporate that source on anyone's behalf, if they'd prefer. Thanks, all. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 21:36, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
