I know I didn't write an article, but I needed a link target (for Maid Marian, a surprisingly early (17th century) example).

The concept (and the phrase) clearly exist, It gets a few thousand hits on google books and about 200 on wikipedia itself. --dab (𒁳) 10:43, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Article needs a rewrite

edit

This article is nominally about the trope of the "strong female character" as manifested in certain badasses like Buffy Summers -- a la the kind of thing you might find in TVTropes -- but is kind of a mess throughout and seems to have been used as a general referendum on different ideas people have about what makes for positive female representation in a story -- that is, a broader notion of what makes for a "strong female character". For example, the Bechdel Test, which is called out in the lede, has nothing to do with the Buffy Summers trope, and is a (jokey, not academic) method of assessing female representation in a work. An article about the trope is well scoped and should be pretty easy to execute on. An article about different ideas on positive representation is a different article, and that stuff here should be excised. Ford MF (talk) 16:24, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
