There is an even earlier short short by Arthur C. Clarke called Breaking Strain which explores a similar premise. It is difficult to believe that none of the authors of the works cited here were unaware of it. It is after all classic SF.81.140.178.58 (talk) 11:03, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if it merits a mention in the article—but I can't be the only one , can I, who realizes this film's title is a misnomer?
According to Dictionary.com, a "stowaway" is "a person who hides aboard a [vehicle] in order to obtain free transportation or elude pursuers". That's obviously not the case here… Quite the contrary. – AndyFielding (talk) 07:31, 13 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
