General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited:
  • Interesting:
QPQ: Done.

Overall:   The article is well sourced and neutral, I don't see any copyvio. The only nitpick I would have is that his death should be mentioned in the body of the article somewhere with a citation. Also, hooks about "firsts" aren't always everyone's favorite choice. Can we rephrase or find a different hook? Something about him stepping away from lawyering and helping to establish the online food writing community after his father died could work. It's in the article's refs like Ottawa Citizen and NOLA, it would just need to be added to the article. BuySomeApples (talk) 01:21, 14 January 2024 (UTC) @BuySomeApples: Thank you for your review! I nominated the article as time was running out. Your suggested hook subjects are far better than my initial one. His influence on the online food community through his founding of eGullet is immense. I’ll expand the article out more and add an additional hook or two. Thank you @Thriley:! There's no rush btw but I'm glad you liked the hook ideas. BuySomeApples (talk) 03:38, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BuySomeApples: Is this ready to be approved? If not, what needs to happen? Z1720 (talk) 15:32, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think it's ready @Z1720:, but @Thriley: was going to prepare alt hooks so it wasn't a "first X to Y" hook. If you want to promote ALT0, I think it's good to go.
@BuySomeApples: How do these alt hooks look? You are definitely right that there should be more said about Shaw in the hook. Thriley (talk) 09:21, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I like them @Thriley: although I think ALT2 could be shortened a little. BuySomeApples (talk) 09:48, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • ALT3 ... that the late Steven A. Shaw, one of the first food bloggers, decided to pursue the career that he loved after the early death of his father? Thriley (talk) 00:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Would it be possible for this to run on April 8th, the tenth anniversary of his death? Thriley (talk) 09:22, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thriley, DYK has a six week maximum for special occasion requests, and April 8 is today nine weeks away. If you want, you can ask for an exemption at WT:DYK. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 01:32, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
