Statue of Thaddeus Kościuszko (Washington, D.C.) → Statue of Tadeusz Kościuszko (Washington, D.C.) – WP:VAMOS has been updated and now says: "For portrait sculptures of individuals in public places the forms "Statue of Fred Foo" "Equestrian statue of Fred Foo" or "Bust of Fred Foo" is recommended, unless a form such as "Fred Foo Memorial" or "Monument to Fred Foo" is the WP:COMMONNAME. If further disambiguation is needed, because there is more than one sculpture of the same person with an article, then disambiguation by location rather than the sculptor is usually better." • Move to Statue of Thaddeus Kościuszko (Washington, D.C.). In an American context, especially the 1910 American context when this statue was made, he's known by his more Anglicized name that he served under (akin to how nobility who reigned in different countries might be known by different names in different contexts). Picture even shows that the accent is not included in statue inscription. (EDIT: See below, actually it does have it.) So regardless of the title of Kosciuszko's main article, for the article on this specific statue, stick with whatever it uses in its inscriptions - the Anglicized "Thaddeus."   There are inscriptions reading KOŚCIUSZKO and GENERAL THADDEUS KOŚCIUSZKO/ 1768–1817/ SON OF POLAND, in both cases with the diacritic mark. It's very small, but it is there. Ham II (talk) 19:27, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

• I stated my piece above, but I prefer the existing title that matches the inscription of the statue itself. For an analogue, look at Moctezuma_II#Portrayals_and_cultural_references; not all usages match the Wikipedia title of "Moctezuma II", and that's fine. SnowFire (talk) 17:12, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
• I was undecided between Tadeusz and Thaddeus (but not on Kościuszko), so I hadn't yet casted a vote – sorry, I know that must be unhelpful. I can see that my quoting an inscription that reads THADDEUS would seem like an endorsement of using that form of the name, so sorry for not making myself clearer. I too think that the move was unjustified at this stage. Ham II (talk) 17:42, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
• I should have been more specific in my original vote which was intended to express unequivocal support for the form submitted in the nomination — Statue of Tadeusz Kościuszko (Washington, D.C.), as seconded by Necrothesp. Tadeusz Kościuszko is Poland's pre-eminent national figure and his name, in its Polish form, appears within main title headers of various Wikipedia articles — Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument, Warsaw / Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument, Kraków / Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument (Chicago) / Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology / Tadeusz Kościuszko Land Forces Military Academy / 1st Tadeusz Kościuszko Infantry Division, etc. It may be also noted that the US stamp honoring Kościuszko renders his surname with the diacritic over the "s". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:01, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
