Sotsugyō (Yuki Saito single)Sotsugyō (Yuki Saito song) – Per convention of WP:SONGS and the topic that makes this notable is the song ("The song continues to be popular over 20 years after its debut"). StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:57, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

This isn't in the slightest bit controversial—if you see something cut-and-dried like this, just move it. Curly Turkey (gobble) 06:02, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not only that, but it doesn't require so much disambiguation. Generality is preferred in disambiguation: there is no other Sotsugyō (song), so I'm moving the page there. Curly Turkey (gobble) 06:59, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nihonjoe, please move this article back to Sotsugyō (song) now. It has already been explained that that is the standard as per WP:SONGS. Further, we do not disambiguate for pages that don't exist. Curly Turkey (gobble) 07:13, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

(Just pasting what I've posted elsewhere since you don't seem to be noticing it) It is not uneccessary when I'm going to be creating the Sotsugyō (Zone song) article in the next few days. Putting the Sotsugyō (Yuki Saito song) article at the current title makes it so it doesn't have to be moved again once the other one is created. Rather than running around like a bull in a china shop and moving articles all over the place, perhaps it would be better to ask why an article was placed where it was, especially when the editor in question has been editing for many, many years now. You may also be interested in perusing ja:卒業 (曖昧さ回避)#楽曲 to see just how many different songs (and albums) there are with this title. I may even translate some of them into English so they will be here, too. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 07:28, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

WP:Japan Assessment Commentary edit

The article was assessed C-class for lack of coverage. Most of the basic elements are there, but most articles on songs include a section on critical reception; that is, what have critics had to say about it? Many articles also include some kind of synopsis on the song's lyrics and notes on any intended artistry or symbolism. Boneyard90 (talk) 12:54, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'd love to include that information (critical reception) but I don't know where to find it. It's very difficult to find the information because it will be contained within magazines from the 1980s in Japan, of which I have none. As I don't have any of those, any info on the lyrics, especially interpretations, would be original research. If you know of any sources for this kind of thing, I'm open to suggestions. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:16, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Stuff about the lyrics and artistry usually comes from interviews with the singers, I think; especially in retrospective type interviews or press conference coverage. And I agree that any critiques will probably be in old print magazines. This is probably why a good number of articles on albums and songs of moderate notability remain start and c-class articles. Yup. I know what types of places to find the information, but I don't have access to them. And Japan still lags behind the States and other countries when it comes to putting older content online to make it easier to find things like that. Maybe they will fix that sometime. We can always hope. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 02:04, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
