The media is making it unclear who will be producing in the SII, in April astrazeneca was contracting for 1 billion doses, in May this changed to about 200 million doses. There is now a national vaccine candidate that would be manufactured next month. There has also been news that oxford-astrazeneca is misusing trials in South-Africa, with vaccination campaigns on people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The WHO director and spokespersons have condemned the group for lacking beneficence and non-maleficence due to the recent events in trials in Africa.
