PSN/PS3 edit war

edit

Please hold a discussion here as to whether the game's Platform information in the info box should contain 'PlayStation Network'

My humble opinion is that PSN is not considered a separate platform from the PS3 and therefore it should not be listed here. Looking at other "PlayStation Network games" articles (including Echochrome, Elefunk, flOw, Go! Puzzle and PixelJunk Monsters), I have not yet found one that states PSN as a "platform". You can use the List of PlayStation Network games if you would like to check others. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 07:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Then what about the articles that list the Virtual Console as a platform? Fantasy Dragon (talk) 07:31, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
This it to do with the Wii and is not really related. But I don't know much about the Wii's services so I can't really say if those articles are right to state the Virtual Console as a platform. A precedent has been set across Wikipedia and all of the major gaming sites (Gamespot, 1up, etc) that the PS3 is the platform. They list all games from the Store as PS3 games, not PSN games on their sites. And as far as I'm aware, Sony have never referred to the PlayStation Network as a platform. At E3 for example, they were talking about about their "three platforms" as being the PSP, PS2 and PS3. No mention of PSN as a platform. I know that's the Wii, but my point is, the Virtual Console is basically the same thing as the PSN...you can buy games on it. So that's why it's related. It's a similar service. Fantasy Dragon (talk) 07:47, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've just read a bit of the Virtual Console article, and it seems that it is simply the name of the software emulation system in the Wii. The games played on the VC are not Wii games, but games for older Nintendo consoles. Similar to the PS1 Classics which are available on the PlayStation Store. QfB is an original PS3 game, developed for the PS3 and is unrelated to VC games. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 07:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
But Q4B is more specifically for the PSN. It was developed for the PSN because it's not as expansive as a full PS3 game. But if you want to settle with leaving the platform as just PS3, then that'll be fine. It's just my personal preference, I guess. I feel that it would be confusing to some, like if someone saw it was for PS3 they would go out to a store and try to find it (outside of Europe, of course). But I'll keep it as PS3 if that's what would be best! Fantasy Dragon (talk) 08:09, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
It would probably be a good idea to mention it under Media though. I'll change 'Digital download' to 'PlayStation Store download'. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 08:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright. Glad to settle on something! Thanks for your time! =) Fantasy Dragon (talk) 08:20, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Price Information

edit

Please do not add the price (stated at E3) to the article. Prices are never correct worldwide. This also comes under WP:NOT. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 07:22, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blu-Ray/PSN only

edit

I removed the following information from the article:

During the July 24th Insomniac Podcast, they siad the game was orginally going to be downloadable content until 1 island turned into 3 and it became a stand alone game itself.

Although it mentions the Insomniac podcast, the information is not correctly cited. Also, it is not clear whether this refers to Europe (where blu-ray is confirmed) or worldwide so contradicts what is stated earlier in the article. This is also not mentioned on any of the gaming websites that I have looked at. It might be that the person in the podcast is mistaken or this is old information. If anyone can find clarification from a reliable source, please re-add it. Thanks. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 07:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could be wrong here but the impression I get is that "downloadable content" in this context typically means extra content for an existing game. From what I can gather (I bought a copy on blu-ray myself) the downloadable version of quest for booty is a standalone game. Plugwash (talk) 00:47, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Game Title

edit

In Europe and Australia, the previous R&C game left out "future" in the title. Is there any info on whether or not that is the case with this game? I've searched, but came up with nothing. Frvernchanezzz (talk) 10:36, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is correct. The video on the European PlayStation Store calls it "Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty". I think that because it's an American product, the American name is used. I can't find any websites that confirms this though. If the European E3 video could be found, that could be used as a source for something like this in the first section: "Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (known as Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty in Europe) is the eighth instalment in the Ratchet & Clank series". Release date

edit

I know there's a source for August 21 in the article, and Gamespot are usually accurate with release dates, but when looking for it's Australian release date, all I could find was lots of TBA's and this which says September 29; it mentions that this is a tentative release date, but this was posted on the 17th of August, so it makes me wonder if August 21 is a worldwide release date. Soooo

edit

You can't buy the game? You have to download it? Note to the deleters: I didn't see what you had to do to get in the game in the article, so I'm asking my question here so there. --Coconutfred73 (talk) 02:14, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yup. One of the first sentences: It was released worldwide on the PlayStation Network on August 21st, 2008 and will also be released on Blu-Ray Disc in Europe on September 12th, 2008 [4]. So unless you get it from Europe on a disc, you can only buy it and download it off of the PSN. Fantasy Dragon (talk) 17:01, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't really know how you missed it in the article? Please refrain from using Talk pages as a forum. There are some very active PS3 forums here and here. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 19:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't have any proof but when I went to the gaming store I saw this game on a CD.--Megaman en m (talk) 12:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I presume you mean a blue-ray disk not a CD. Since according to your profile you are from belgium that would be consistant with the articles statement that it was released on blu-ray in EU countries other than the UK. There are also certainly asian copies (note: for the purposes of PS3 games and blu-ray moveies japan is not in the asia region) availible on blu-ray (interestingly while the box is marked in both chineese and english the disc only appears to be marked in english so I guess they are using the same discs in both regions). Sequel

edit

An anon recently added a section giving dates for a sequel, someone immediately followed this up with a {{fact}} tag. Does anyone have any idea where this information might have come from? I've posted a query on the ip's talk page at User_talk:24.228.83.42#sequel_to_quest_for_booting Plugwash (talk) 00:51, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have now removed this section, please provide a source if re-adding it. Plugwash (talk) 13:18, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

UK bluray release

edit

the "ratchet and clank wiki" ( http://ratchet.wikia.com/wiki/Ratchet_%26_Clank_Future:_Quest_for_Booty ) claims

"It was released on Blu-Ray Disc in the United Kingdom on November 14, 2008, despite reports in August that the Blu-Ray version had been canceled in that area. "

but does not give any citations for those claims

it is in stock now at uk retailers but the ones i've seen don't seem to give any info on it's release date.

does anyone have any further info. Plugwash (talk) 18:48, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
