Article organization

This article needs some reorganization. The article title implies it is about the Phoenixville site, yet it includes much about the corporation, including an entire paragraph of another site, inserted in between P-ville paragraphs.

Short term I'd say keep the contents and title, but organize it such that there's a clear section dealing with the corporate history and other sites, and improve/organize the P-ville specific bits.

Long term, I think there's almost enough material for two articles now, and I've seen plenty more out there (e.g. in Pennypacker). So I'm thinking reorganize what's here now with that in mind, try to expand the history section, then spin off the corporate history and take the not full article sized bits about other sites there. Let this article concentrate on what went on in P-ville. Obviously there will be some overlap.

Another possibility is to make "Phoenix Iron Works" a section and rename the article to Phoenix Steel. That could be followed by the above plan, just coming from a different direction.

There are many Phoenix Iron Works throughout the world

I want to rename this wiki page, to reflect the idea that there were many foundries named Phoenix Iron Works, throughout the world. Some of them still exist.

  * Oakland, founded in 1901, is still around. See also http://www.flickr.com/photos/56789206@N08/galleries/72157634992812628/, a collection of photos which I pulled together.
  * Portland, OR was also founded in 1901, but no longer exists.
  *  Glasgow, Scotland seems to date from before 1811. They built locomotives, fountains, and more. BBC mention of Phoenix Iron Works. 1811 death of Thomas Edington, of Phoenix Iron Works
  * Hartford, CT, found 1834

We could go on and on. I suggest renaming this page as Phoenix Iron Works (Phoenixville, Pennsylvania)

Alternate spelling

I've seen at least one of their bridges stamped as Phœnix Bridge Co. from Phœnixville PA... that is, spelled with a ligature. Haven't seen this in any documentation though. I think it is worth mentioning and will add if I can find any online references. Gapmtn1 (talk) 14:41, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
