editJadger removed informations, it's close to vandalism. There are sources quoted below.Xx236 09:21, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
There are Skierbieszów and Szczebrzeszyn articles, which can be linked in the table. Xx236 15:41, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Pacifications (with dates) and possibly, the number of dead victims, could be mentioned in those articles first. --Poeticbent talk 16:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
People of Skierbieszów were expelled and many of them died in other places, including Auschwitz. Is this a pacification? It was part of Zamość expulsion. Xx236 07:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- The disambiguation page for pacification reads: "a military or police action to disarm combatants. In colonial times it often referred to the conquest and subjugation of a people opposing a colonial power, especially in the term 'pacification expedition', which may be used as a euphemism for war."[1] Yes, the expulsion of people from Skierbieszów was a form of pacification by Wiki nomenclature, even though no mass killings were taking place in that village.
- pac·i·fi·ca·tion from yahoo.com distionary [2]
- NOUN:
- 1.Reduction, as of a rebellious district, to peaceful submission.
- 2.Practical measures or policy aiming to effect this type of submission [more often than not achieved by terror, but partially also by deportations I suppose - Poeticbent].
vicinities of Białystok and Wielkopolska
editVicinity of Białystok is the Białystok voivodship. What is the vicinity of Wielkopolska? Xx236 17:29, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's now vicinities of (...) Greater Poland, I believ rather in Greater Poland.Xx234 (talk) 08:26, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Towns and villages
editThe name of the article should be Pacifications of towns and villages in German-occupied Poland - the article describes the case of Złoczów, a town.Xx234 (talk) 14:19, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, renamed already, but differently, based on book sources provided. Poeticbent talk 21:03, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Królewiec / Szałas ?
editWhat is the connection between the two places?Xx234 (talk) 09:04, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- I have answered the question.Xx234 (talk) 10:36, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Bielsko, Masovian, Suwalki and Lomza
editMaybe powiats or small (1975 to 1998) voivodeships, no such voivodeship existed at that time.Xx234 (talk) 07:12, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- 'They are exponentially greater within the prewar borders of the Republic' - the statement is unprecise and unsourced.Xx234 (talk) 08:22, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean. The IPN webpage clearly states that the prewar Polish voivodeships are not included in the break-down. These voivodeships included Lwów Voivodeship, Nowogródek Voivodeship (1919–39), Polesie Voivodeship, Stanisławów Voivodeship, Tarnopol Voivodeship, Wilno Voivodeship (1926–39), and Wołyń Voivodeship (1921–39). We need a different source for actual numbers, that's all. Poeticbent talk 13:04, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- I mean literal text quoted above (Note a in the article) - there were no Bielsko, Masovian, Suwalki and Lomza voivodships. BTW Bielsko is probably wrong, rather Bielsk Podlaski.Xx234 (talk) 13:09, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe the Einsatzgruppen#Organisation starting in 1941 could shed some light on what happened in Kresy. The confusing part is that Eastern Poland was invaded by the Soviets in 1939, not by the Germans. See the Lwów or Stanisławów ghettos for the more prominent examples of what happened there following Operation Barbarossa. Poeticbent talk 13:33, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- I mean Note a, about 1939. I believe that the text by Markiewicz is in http://ipn.gov.pl/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/45499/1-3922.pdf and the journal is "Biuletyn IPN", Komentarze is a section.Xx234 (talk) 13:42, 21 January 2015 (UTC) I'm not sure if the Biuletyn was peer-reviewed. Note a quotes an article by Kulesza, also from Biuletyn IPN, Komentarze section.Xx234 (talk) 13:44, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm right - the quote is Bez wyraźnego związku z działaniami wojennymi Wehrmacht spacyfikował we wrześniu 1939 r. trzydzieści wsi z powiatów: bielskiego, wysokomazowieckiego, suwalskiego i łomżyńskiego. - Bielsk County, Wysokie Mazowieckie County, Suwałki County and Łomża County. Xx234 (talk) 13:58, 21 January 2015 (UTC) The reference should be corrected, it's the quoted Markiewicz's article not Kulesza's.Xx234 (talk) 14:19, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
