Should authors of cited sources have their own wiki article? edit

Other authors here have their own wiki article; should one only use authors in references deemed important enough to have a wiki article; or should one create the necessary wiki page for a new author? Sheistoofondofbooks (talk) 19:17, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

There's no requirement or preference for the author of a source be notable, or have a Wikipedia article, in order for the source to be used as a reference. The use of sources is governed by Wikipedia policies and guidelines such as Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Whether someone should be the subject of a Wikipedia article is determined primarily by reference to WP:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (people). --Arxiloxos (talk) 20:40, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
