Not public domain

From what I can tell, NoCopyrightSounds are copyrighted and they allow free use with attribution and (I assume) no modification as long as you do not make too much money, then you have to contact them for licensing. @Zawl: Well if it had no copyright and was actually public domain, then

1. there would be no obligation for users provide attribution,
2. their music would not have the copyright logo at the bottom of every song ,for example see "© NCS" in the comments on every recent video.
3. they would not have an email address for licensing on their website http://ncsmusic.com/: "If you're a brand or a commercial organisation interested in using NCS music, please get in touch at licensing@nocopyrightsounds.co.uk"

In summary, NCS is clearly maintaining the copyright on all their songs. The have a disclaimer that you can use it "without the fear of copyright claims." There is no reason that they could not change their minds in the future. IANAL, but I assume the disclaimer next to the copyright should hold up in court, but there might be a loop-hole to have all content with their music demonetized.

Anyway, I think it is misleading to claim that their music has no copyright or is in the public domain, which it clearly is not.

I agree with vossman. NCS terms of use are more like CC-BY-NC-ND License, though I couldn't find any reference to a license on their website or anywhere else. This is far from public domain or copyright-free and it has nothing to do with an open-source record label. Gordang (talk) 22:56, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Artists list

Looks like the artists list is rather long. Is it possible to split the list into multiple columns, similar to artists lists on pages like Monstercat, OWSLA, or Mad Decent? Is there possibly a better source than just a Spotify or a SoundCloud listing that can be used to verify this artist's recent connection to the label? Updating entire page.

NCS' wikipedia page is so outdated and doesn't represent the business well. I'd love to change the whole layout to be more down the style of Monstercat's categorised by year with big milestones that the company has reached. Echo984 (talk) 11:15, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Youtube

Is the YouTube info in the ibx neccasary? Because all of the other pages about record labels (such as Interscope Records and Ninja Tune), don't even have this info so I don't see why this is exempted. Comment: I assume the reason it's there in the first place is related to the emphasis on this being "a YouTube-first label" and "started as a YouTube channel in 2011". Artists with reliable sources rejected

Several reasons for this:

• You can't just slap a source onto an artist and claim the mention and connection is in there. Each source has to be checked.
• The recent additions did not make mention of a connection to the label.

I would like to see the inclusion criteria tightened to prevent the excessive promotion we've been seeing here. WP:LISTPEOPLE says only people who have a serious chance of meeting WP:MUSICBIO requirements should be listed, which in practice means artists that already have biography articles written about them on Wikipedia. If we apply LISTPEOPLE inclusion criteria, then the list of artists gets knocked way down to a dozen entries. Binksternet (talk) 22:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Notability concerns

In relation to the thread above, this article is starting to become plagued by the overabundance of artist inclusion, and not enough sources talk about the record label by itself. Keep it's name. I don't think it should be renamed. The words "NoCopyrightSounds" are still used, and using NCS (record label) might certainly confuse some people.
