"Opinions" section

edit

There seems to be an edit war going on regarding the section on Ramdani's statements on Libya and the ‘Comité des usagères de la ligne A’ organisation. I make no comment at this point regarding the veracity of the sources (I haven't checked them yet), but the edit summaries are getiing somewhat heated and both editors are risking a block for 3RR. Hence, I'm bringing the matter here for discussion. Yunshui  13:35, 8 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

After seeing the sources, it certainly seems that the information is verifiable and correct. YouTube is arguably a weak source, but Ramdani's opinions on the West's involvement in Libya are well-documented elsewhere; other sources are available. I can't see any reason to exclude this information. Yunshui  13:47, 8 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Both Ramdani’s statements on Libya and her involvement in the ‘Comité des usagères de la ligne A’ – of which, according to others sources, she was the president – are undisputable. Youtube is arguably a weak source, however, this video is taken from Ramdani’s very own channel on Youtube. There is no reason to exclude any of this information from the Opinions section. Amendments and complements are always welcome, of course. MarceauRobes (talk) 16:41, 8 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ms Ramdani was categorically not the President of the‘Comité des usagères de la ligne A’. Saying she 'indisputably' was is untrue. It is extraordinary that somebody is allowed to come on to a legitimate, fact-based biography and fill it with random quotes using inappropriate and false words like 'highly controversial', while also distorting the context within which the quotes were made. Are editors suggesting that we shold simply trawl through everything a person has ever said, edit it to fit our negative views, and then post it on Wikipedia? The editor responsible for 'selecting' quotes which fit his/her agenda is also removing facts. Ms Ramdani has an impressive record as a TV producer, for example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hilsea (talkcontribs) 22:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

This section seems to have been renamed, or merged into the"Life and Work" section, but I agree with the previous posters that selectively pulling out quotes from articles she wrote seems unencyclopedic, I'll remove those quotes at the end of the section Epson Salts (talk) 14:11, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Politicizing pundit

edit

Ms Ramdani is a glib political mouthpiece slamming everyone for islmophobia, far more than a serious and critical news journalist. 195.67.149.166 (talk) 10:58, 9 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Conspicuous by her absence

edit

Interesting that there's no article about her on the French wikipedia (she is barely even mentioned there) even though she was born and educated in France, has been writing and speaking a great deal about France and French politics in high-profile contexts, and contributes to French magazines and newspapers as well as British ones. Maybe the French view her as an "activist"? 83.251.167.113 (talk) 10:31, 31 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
