Requested move 21 September 2018 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to NET (Indonesian TV channel). There is consensus that the period and the lowercase titling should be eradicated. (page mover nac) Flooded with them hundreds 15:59, 28 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

NET.Net (Indonesian TV channel) – If it's not an acronym of anything, I'm going to apply MOS:TM and MOS:CAPS. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 05:34, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose The lede says it is an acronym for "News and Entertainment Television". At most a move to NET (Indonesia) is much more advised as being much simpler and the period is just an extraneous branding item. Nate (chatter) 06:58, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • Per WP:NCBC you are wrong. --Gonnym (talk) 07:43, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • Oh, is it a backronym, then? Move the article anyway, and fix the leas section like
Net (stylised as NET. in the logo; a backronym of "News and Entertainment Television") is a...

  • Definitely. get. rid. of. the. dot. There are many examples of that being considered mere vanity styling on Wikipedia. I also support Net rather than NET, since it seems to be a backronym and the uppercase is not followed very consistently in sources (which we seem to have a shortage of). This has "Net" in its headline, and this and this use "Net" consistently, so three out of the four currently cited sources use "Net" at least some of the time. I don't understand the reference to WP:NCBC. —BarrelProof (talk) 04:20, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to NET (Indonesian TV channel) because acronym. The nominator's claim that the name is a backronym is baseless. What does "Net" refers to if it's a backronym? Hddty. (talk) 18:33, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support removing the period is a necessity. The official name seems to be "PT Net Mediatama Televisi", without the capitalization; however I don't speak any Bahasa and if common usage is clear that it is a backronym I'm fine with the caps. power~enwiki (π, ν) 01:47, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • The name is definitely an acronym but not all acronym is a backronym (the nominator has not provided a source that the name is a backronym). "PT Net Mediatama Televisi" is also stylized as all-caps as a whole or "NET" only. It is unknown whether the name with title-case is the official stylization but an acronym should be written in uppercase per MOS:TM. Hddty. (talk) 05:41, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
