editI saw this page in the "new pages" RSS feed and had to correct it. The spelling is "Moo Goo Gai Pan", not "Moo Goo Guy Pan" as the original page had it. Furthermore, the original text said only, "The dish consists of cubes of chicken white meat sautéed with assorted Chinese vegetables." That text is a direct copy from this restaurant's online menu, including the incorrect spelling.
The American Heritage Dictionary says the dish is Cantonese, but I'd always heard it was an American creation, so I left that without resolution.

- Moo Goo Gai Pan is Chinese-American version of the traditional Chinese dish "Mah Gu Gai Pin". Moo Goo Gai Pan is one of many Chinese-American dishes that evolved from the need to substitute variouse ingredients in traditional chinese cuisine for locally available ingredients and the desire to cator to western tastes. --Cab88 12:39, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
mo4 gu1 gai1 pin3
editSince 2007 (see this link)[1] this article has said that moo goo gai pan is based off of a Chinese dish called mo4 gu1 gai1 pin3. No citation is given, nor any indication what these numbers mean. There should be some sort of link to something that explains what the numbers in the name mean, if they represent something from the Chinese language, or they should be removed.
