Citation Needed tag added

I have added a "Citation Needed" tag (As explained on the Tagging a sentence page page) to the 1980s section of the Molly Hatchet article, like this:

When Brown was away from Hatchet, he later formed The Danny Joe Brown Band with future Molly Hatchet guitarist Bobby Ingram and guitarist Steve Wheeler, and was replaced by vocalist Jimmy Farrar, formerly of cover band Raw Energy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Jimmy Farrar's home town is La Grange, Georgia, and many locals there remember Raw Energy as being active in that area as far back as 1978, so the Florida origin of that band is disputed.

I have sent messages to former surviving members of the Raw Energy band, Karl Bissett, former lead singer (before Jimmy Farrar) for the band, Phillip Turner, and the family of Jimmy Farrar himself, some or all of whom will be able for verify that the band originated in La Grange and not in Florida.

Band Name

It should be noted that several versions of the Hatchet Molly story are out there. No one seems to have been able to locate the original legend. See this page for some variations:

Danny Joe Brown was a vocalist and harmonica player for Hatchet, not a bassist. Other sources say his massive stroke occurred in 1998, not '95.

It seems this Molly Hatchet article is in dire need or verified sources, citations, and so on, but the corrected mistakes are useless if they're going to be reverted back to the incorrect information almost immediately.

DVD - Live in Hamburg

Did not see mention of the DVD Live in Hamburg - stupendous rock video that it is.

Available on Amazon. Recorded at the Harley Davison Festival 2004,This is quite an achievement when you consider that the band had just undergone radical personnel changes, with a new bass guitarist and the return of Hlubek as the second guitarist. But the star of the show, as it seems always, is Bobby Ingram on lead guitar who gives another stellar performance. Bobby puts everything into this act and some of the solos are noticeably superior to and more powerful than other versions I've heard. And there is a blistering guitar solo to introduce 'Dreams' which in itself also contains some pounding lead guitar work. Bobby deserves full praise for his courage as his wife had previously recently suddenly died.

The DVD has a bonus CD with the same concert recording but with reduced material for the sake of length.There are also bonus features with an interesting interview with Bobby.

Would it be notable pop culture trivia that one of Bob and Tom's albums says that the drummer from Molly Hatchet can "suck his own dick?"

Raw Energy actually from La Grange, Georgia

The Raw Energy band actually originated in La Grange, Georgia, rather than Fort Walton Beach, Florida. I have changed this in the article to read: "...was replaced by vocalist Jimmy Farrar, formerly of cover band Raw Energy of La Grange, Georgia, Farrar's home town."

As Karl Bissett, a former member of the Raw Energy entourage wrote me: "...Ft Walton Beach, Florida? Not hardly. Not sure where they come up with that? The band played there back in the late 1970s but that's all the history I know of."

Raw Energy correction reverted back to mistake

Possibly if members of the band, or Jimmy Farrar himself make the correction, it may stand/ If they say they "Need Verification" I have to then say who do they have to "verify" the mistake they're sticking with, saying Raw Energy was from Florida?

The earlier albums feature more variation in guitar tone and style and exhibit a distinct southern cultural influence – which changed with the addition of Farrar on vocals. By this time, acts such as Van Halen had made harder heavy metal-influenced rock popular in the 1980s. This fact was not lost on the band and their producer. Danny Joe Brown's stage persona, gruff voice and cowboy horse-whistling had matched well with the overtly southern-influenced sounds of his era. The correct facts, since changed back to the mistaken information. Jimmy Farrar's home town is La Grange, Georgia, and many locals there remember Raw Energy as being active in that area as far back as 1978, so the Florida origin of that band is disputed.

It seems that at the very least we need to added a "Citation" or "Verification" needed tag on the city of origin for Raw Energy, since the band is absolutely of La Grange, Georgia origin, and definitely not Florida.

I can look into making this change, or someone with more experience can do it for me, but the information as it stands, and has been reverted back to, is incorrect, and any citation or search for citation will verify this.

I am also sending out to the family of Jimmy Farrar to see if the singer himself wants to come set the mistake right, and make the article historically correct. Will Dockery (talk) 04:53, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Since neither city of origin of the band Raw Energy has been cited or verified as of yet, it seems the best policy to maintain accuracy is to not name a city of origin for that band at this time. Thus, any references to Raw Energy being from Florida should be omitted as is La Grange, Georgia , although it is a fact that Jimmy Farrar came from that city, and in fact was singing with a certain band based in that city when he joined Molly Hatchet.

I have gone through and rewrote sentences, and deleted others in this article, which is filled with personal opinions and "fan club" style writing, also added tags where references, cite, et cetera are needed... which are often.

There is much more editing needed here, if anyone is interested in getting this article up to standard.

Someone who knows the details, birthdate, other details in the bio of Jimmy Farrar, follow the link here and type whatever you know, I'll come in later and edited, re-write, whatever is needed from that point.

Timeline

The timeline graphic suggests that Ralph Hardy is a current guitarist with the band, but he's not mentioned anywhere else in the article.
