submission loss to mousasi edit

OK I'm sorry I don't have an account but honestly wtf. I've edited it before and I'm gonna do it now. That submission was not a kimura, it was a straight armbar. People who don't know the difference shouldn't be editing Wikipedia. If you don't believe me check Sherdog which I believe is what Wikipedia uses the most as a source. http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Mark-Hunt-10668 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.95.102.52 (talk) 19:45, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Formatting edit

Could someome possibly reformat the two main sections for his careers in kickboxing and MMA? They are just several large blocks of text (which isn't exactly easy to read) and also both seem a bit long. MezzoMezzo 17:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Street fight and edits edit

Seems like a few people have been editing this article.

Citiation needed for Mark Hunt's streetfight? i don't see why, but anyway, http://www.muaythaionline.net/features/mhinterview.html

"So how did you first get involved in the sport? I was in a street fight 7 years ago and one of the bouncers asked if I would like to Thai fight so that is how I got involved. "

I've also read an article on him (that seems to be offline) saying that he started the sport after a streetfight in Auckland that didn't last very long, with Mark Hunt obviously the winner.

Voice and content edit

The voice in this article is ok, but it's almost too formal, particularly considering he subkject matter. The content itself almost goes too deep and becomes tangential at times. Like you don't have to say that Mark Hunt mentioned he learned a flying armbar, but (unsurprisingly) never attempted it.

I really wish anyone looking to write a MMA fighter profile would first familiarize himself w/ IBHOF profiles first. They're both more professional and less snooty.

So the article is too formal/snooty and yet you question the relevance of the one moment of levity in it. Okay. I didn't write the piece, but I think that section actually gives a good insight into Hunt's personality as he always comes across as being very laid back and self effacing. When a 130kg kickboxer suggests he's going to start using acrobatic submissions it's a funny remark and is typical of Mark's attitude in interviews. Could you be a bit more specific about your last comment, what is it about the IBHOF profiles that you'd like here? --- Trench 23:42, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

his KO loss in K1 was a liver shot, it should say (liver shot) next to KO. Mark Hunt was not unconsious at all he just took one to the liver and collapsed in pain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.188.232.38 (talk) 02:01, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Website edit

Website's just a Go Daddy placeholder. Internet Archive shows that there used to be something there, but looks like its been a while. I'd change it, but the article's protected. 71.217.112.251 (talk) 06:27, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

can I add info about Mark's personal life, wife and kids, found that he is married to Julie mother of his three children here http://fabwags.com/julie-hunt-mma-mark-super-samoan-hunts-wife/ Dear Arctic Kangaroo, thanks for your quick response, i was thinking that it could be at the early career section, right at the end after "under Maori instructor Hape Ngaranoa", or if you allow me to I could add Personal life section. thank You. Rapidito (talk) 06:20, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Could you state which section and after which sentence you want to add it? Thanks. Arctic Kangaroo () 07:29, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Submissiom loss to Sean McCorkle edit

He loose by kimura, not any armbar. It is a mistake from sherdog — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.9.90.178 (talk) 12:18, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Both Sherdog & MixedMartialArts.com list it as a Arm bar. --Phospheros (talk) 21:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Amendment to "Personal life" section edit

The opening sentence in this section is as follows: "Hunt was born a Mormon, but is now a born-again Christian."

This is poorly worded. You cannot be born a Mormon (or any religion).

A better phrasing would be: "Hunt was raised as a Mormon, but is now a born-again Christian.", or "Hunt was born to Mormon parents..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by LincentVee (talkcontribs) 15:06, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Also, please remove the part about him being vegan. Hunt posted an animal cruelty video on facebook in August 2015 and wrote that he would "go vegan", but apart from that no one ever heard about it ever again. So until there is further press on this, I would regard this as speculative. --Nobody perfect (talk) 14:03, 7 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Loss overturned against Lesnar edit

NSAC has agreed to overturn the fight to a No Contest after Lesnar's drug offence. Probably worth updating the page?

"Originally unanimous decision win for Lesnar; overturned after he tested positive for clomiphene." edit

Causes confusion as to who tested for clomiphene, would be better if read: "Originally unanimous decision win for Lesnar; overturned to NC after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene."

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xhel245 (talkcontribs) 23:22, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Change quoted article in text from

'If I Die Fighting, That's is Fine' to 'If I Die Fighting, That's Fine'

Mormon edit

The article says Hunt was, "Born a Mormon," which should probably read, "Raised a Mormon" or, "Born to Mormon parents." Infants don't practice religion.

Fighting Style worth keeping? edit

Minus the hyperbole, its rather undisputed that Mark Hunt possesses powerful punches and a granite chin, and I gathered as many sources as I could to support the latter points. Obviously with Hunt being a brawler there is less technicality to delve into in a fighting style section of his than say, Anderson Silva, but I thought his power was noteworthy enough to warrant a section. Even if the section is of particularly poor quality I still felt it was better off staying up there to be tweaked and finessed as opposed to outright terminated? I always said it probably needed work. Perhaps remove the Crop cop headkick example if too informal? Regardless if it really isnt of standard than Im fine with it being removed. Just thought id take a stab in the dark. Heatlineheard (talk) 22:59, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
