Anyone have any idea what's the lineup like on the teams?--70.241.26.186 (talk) 12:52, 19 December 2011 (UTC)BlueAlphaSixActualReply

And what this "controversy" mentioned under the Operational History subsection is? Spartan198 (talk) 15:24, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

While I haven't done an in-depth review, I think that the tagging of Marine Special Operations Regiment (United States) as a G12 isn't valid. While the material matches that of this site, that site has a history going back only as far as 2011 (that I can find), and may well be a copy of the Wikipedia material. The Wikipedia page was started in 2007. At the time it had a reference, which is now a dead link, but is likely to be this page, which at first glance looks like a source, but not a copy paste.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 14:50, 11 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Marine Raider Regiment. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Proposed Changes

edit

Hello all,

I would like to present a few changes to this page and I would like your opinion about them. I have been looking into the MARSOC Marine Raiders online and I have found that the wikipedia pages about this subject has come to be a little misleading. The Marine Raiders Regiment is part of the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command or also know as MARSOC, this unit is one of the many different units under this command such as the Marine Raiders Special Operations School which is responsible for assessment and selection of new Marine Raiders or the Marine Raider Support Group which contains special units that attach and assist the units in the field while still being part and manned by Marine Raiders, such as the canine units. I believe that this page, just like any other Wikipedia page for any special operations units contains the entire unit, not just a small regiment of it. Now some may say that MARSOC already has a page, yes they do, I agree, but that is the entire command which is made of Marines Raiders, Marines and civilians, just like the army has a page for the Army Special Operations Command which encompasses the Rangers and the Green Berets. The same goes for the navy with the Naval Special Warfare Command, which takes care of Navy SEALs, though each unit has their own individual page. I believe that this page should be renamed "The United States Marine Raiders" as they have been distinguished as such by the media on many different occasions and it encompasses the entire unit of Marine Raiders, including those in the support battalions. This page has also come to show the path of a Marine Raider and the selection process, something that is not part at all of the Marine Raider Regiment, but is taken care of by the Marine Raider Special Operations School, another branch of MARSOC. To conclude, I think that it would be better to think of this page as the one for today's current operators known to all as the Marine Raiders than just for the Raider Regiment as plenty of information on this page comes from different parts of the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command to form the special operations unit know as the Marine Raiders.

Thank you for your consideration.

Requested move 6 March 2017

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: No move. A better title may indeed be available, but it's apparent this one isn't going to work. Cúchullain t/c 16:43, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Marine Raider RegimentUnited States Marine Raiders – This is the title given to the unit when referred to by the media, the government or even its own command (see sources below for sources), for example, the Navy Seals' page is named "United States Navy Seals," not Navy SEAL Teams, even though that is their unit structure.

Support The article talks about the unit in general and not just the regiment, plus its not addressed that way by the media --GreatQuote (talk) 16:10, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Support The press and the pentagon does indeed call the MARSOC operators "Marine Raiders" and doesn't really name them as the "Marine Raider Regiment." The article also does talk about their training which is not just part of this regiment but by the Marine Special Operations School --Bhtyl (talk) 01:38, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
