Cleanup edit

I have removed the cleanup tag. I realize it's not a very good article but I'd like to have someone explain what they believe needs to be cleaned up before they re-add it. gren グレン 07:43, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Peer review edit

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

  • Consider removing links that add little to the article or that have been repeated in close proximity to other links to the same article, as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) and WP:CONTEXT.[?]
  • Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates), months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.[?]
  • If there is not a free use image in the top right corner of the article, please try to find and include one.[?]
  • If this article is about a person, please add {{persondata|PLEASE SEE [[WP:PDATA]]!}} along with the required parameters to the article - see Wikipedia:Persondata for more information.[?]
  • Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Build the web, years with full dates should be linked; for example, link January 15, 2006.[?]
  • Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
    • While additive terms like “also”, “in addition”, “additionally”, “moreover”, and “furthermore” may sometimes be useful, overusing them when they aren't necessary can instead detract from the brilliancy of the article. This article has 10 additive terms, a bit too much.
  • The script has spotted the following contractions: couldn't, if these are outside of quotations, they should be expanded.
  • As done in WP:FOOTNOTE, footnotes usually are located right after a punctuation mark (as recommended by the CMS, but not mandatory), such that there is no space in between. For example, the sun is larger than the moon [2]. is usually written as the sun is larger than the moon.[2][?]
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas. Thanks, ShahidTalk2me 17:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Citizen edit

I notice she is listed as a Nepali-Indian. Is she a citizen of India? Vaada (talk) 23:15, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nepali-Indian edit

She's a Nepali-Indian. If the sources on the article are not enough, then see this one too (The Asian Age; quote: "... the Nepali-Indian actress said ...").

Want more? Take this.

ShahidTalk2me 16:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Shahid, what you mentioned are series of news reports. She is just a Nepali and it would be ethically wrong to enlist her as an Indian Nepali as she does NOT hold indian citizenship, here is a link of her interview from a top Nepali film based website. Hear it from her own mouth http://www.cinesansar.com/2010/02/manisha-is-back-after-22-years-dharma.html Frieda Pinta works in American films but wiki dont list her as Indian American? does it? I can call myself Indian-Nepali because i hold an indian passport but she DOES NOT. Lets promote truth in wikipedia and don't malign its reputation. Niteshpradhans (talk) 10:15, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's about where she works, dear friend, it's about what sources say. I cite reliable sources, and what you cite does not seem to be one. Let me go and check some video interviews maybe I'll find something. ShahidTalk2me 18:08, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Any videos yet where she says she is an Indian? LOL — Preceding unsigned comment added by Niteshpradhans (talkcontribs) 20:33, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't know what you are LOLing at. I said I'll try to find something, not necessarily something in which she says she is Indian. ShahidTalk2me 20:35, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

She is a nepali look at the sources attached..thanks..!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.117.201.191 (talk) 04:57, 9 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The sources are not very clear. Some say Nepali-Indian "actress" while some just say Nepali. For this issue, won't it be better to get information about her parents rather than trusting vague sources? See these two sources.1, 2 Secret of success Talk to me 06:36, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Exactly, she grew up in India, from what she said. She's worked in Indian movies. The sources are not universal. ShahidTalk2me 09:04, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Her father Prakash Koirala is ex cabinet minister in Nepal. Nepali citizens don't require work visa to work in India. They even have property rights in India and vica-versa. Therefore, Manisha holds Nepali passport., she recently married a Nepali citizen as well. She has herself claimed she just holds nepali passport several times in nepali television, unfortunately no links available! Holding dual citizenship is illegal both in India and Nepal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.161.145.244 (talk) 11:33, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is Verifiability, not the Truth. We have to go by what the sources say. Secret of success Talk to me 13:27, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
That is the point I've been trying to make throughout this whole discussion. ShahidTalk2me 13:46, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

An actor can work in films made from any country but that does not make her the citizen of the country where he or she works for eg Freida Pinto, she is not listed as an american actress, but she works in hollywood!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.117.233.72 (talk) 19:32, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

In an interview with Vir Sanghvi Manisha said she was raised in Mumbai. Anyway - it's all about Verifiability, not the Truth. ShahidTalk2me 19:39, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I do not agree with the wordings 'nepali-indian'. Please back it up with a reliable source. There's has been a discussion somewhere in wikiproject india, on the talk page of Amitabh Bachchan, i guess, about mentioning the caste of Indians . Well shahid, similiar discussion should be made then only, use such words in a biography. On a personal note she is a relative of my friend and i also attended her wedding in gokarna resort. And i am sure that she does not hold and indian citizenship, and even if she does after marrying samrat dahal, she is a Nepali. |BINEET| 16:52, 24 February 2012 (UTC) Bineet Ojha

Nepalese/Nepali edit

For users who have been replacing the demonym, please see this discussion: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Nepal#Nepalese on why the WP:STATUSQUO for Nepalese is preferred in articles which already use it. There is currently no WP:CONSENSUS on replacing "Nepalese" with "Nepali" both are equally correct terms with the former having older and more widespread usage on this wiki and should remain to maintain consistency.
