Should the page be moved to List of black NFL quarterbacks? There is only passing mention at most of about other pro leagues, Canadian football, college football, or high school football. jnestorius(talk) 10:01, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I soft disagree with the move as a long-term thing. I agree the lack of non-NFL cases is a deficiency in the article, but it'd make more sense to have one unified article on the topic than to split the topic up by league - this article should cover NCAA black quarterbacks, CFL black quarterbacks, etc. It seems like sources do exist for this, e.g. http://sonahrsports.com/the-cfl-a-haven-for-africanamerican-quarterbacks-p134-112.htmSnowFire (talk) 21:08, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Why do that, or this, make a list that presumes there is a defining characteristic in these 'distinctions'? Is the long lead a summation of the list's scope and the associated articles, is it a spin-off or newly researched composition? cygnis insignis 02:38, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I do not accept there is a distinction except where it sits in America's historical notions of race, although I need to remind myself that making a big deal of the categorisation is a foundational conceit in its populist narratives. This article used to called List of black quarterbacks and looks like it might have been including stuff other than NFL but thats not what the list is right now so I removed the non NFL starters. Done I had the same thought. If anyone disagrees, feel free to revert, but it really is an NFL-specific list in its current state. The now-redirect List of black quarterbacks could someday be turned into a list including players from non-NFL leagues (e.g., Canadian Football League, American Football League and All-American Football League).
