Name

After an undiscussed page move to "List of Hindu gurus", I've moved it back to "List of Hindu gurus and saints" because that is the criteria for the list. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 05:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Classical Acharyas

IMHO, Sankara, Madhva, Ramanuja, Nimbarka, Valabha, and Chaitanya, should be mentioned as classical acharyas at the top in a different category. Aupmanyav (talk) 05:05, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Criteria for inclusion on the list

It is beyond human capacity to judge the greatness of Saints. Paramahansa Yogananda also mentions in his Biography that all saints and holy places should be respected equally. However it is needed to somehow form a list of Hindu Guru's and Saints. The suggestion is therefore that the list should contain those Saints from Hinduism which were (are) described as self-realized by their Guru and other saints. Atmapuri (talk) 16:07, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, good point. So, I am removing the name of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, since he heads a non-profit called the Art of Living and does not have a Guru. Brahmavid (talk) 21:56, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

This list might be better as a category. — goethean 19:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Would not agree with that. The list seems just fine. Not everyone accept concept of a saint to be same or equal to a guru--Wikidas (talk) 21:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Not all saints are gurus(teachers), just as not all gurus are saints. Though some are both, and we are blessed because of them! (Ekabhishek (talk) 07:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC))

Some are called saints by their own followers, but condemned by others. It's a bit more clear whether somebody is a guru, but a guru can be a caste guru or a teacher of music, etc. --Simon D M (talk) 17:47, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

per Wikipedia:Verifiability I will be removing all unreferenced names from this list soon, please name your source if you do not want your guru delisted.Syama (talk) 07:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Additionally I think this list should be two list Guru's and SaintsSyama (talk) 07:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Namaste. suggest you include

Addition of some more names

Here, i would like to suggest some names of saints who have been proved as a milestone in Hinduism. They are Goswami Tulsidas, Soordas, Saint Kabirdas, Saint Ravidas, Saint Raidas, Narsi Bhagat and Kalidas. Their literature are the references in Hindu religion. Birth details can be confirmed in liteature. But these names need to be enlisted showing the glory of a Hinduism. Anandrajoria (talk) 20:44, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Here are some wikilinks:
I have added the first four. The ones without articles have not been added, because this article is a list of other Wikipedia articles. You are free to check to make sure the articles aren't under different names. Wikipedia generally doesn't use honorifics in titles, such as 'saint', unless the title is universally used. Remember also that Wikipedia is for readers of all beliefs, so content must be presented from a neutral point of view, not just to show the glory of any religion. Table format

It would be nice to have this in a table format with clickable headers to sort. Jim Bowery (talk) 14:29, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

List of Hindu gurus and saintsList of Hindu gurus and santsThis diff provides a reasonable justification for why the title is actually inappropriate in its current location, but I do not want to unilaterally move the page on the off chance that this change is improper. • Support, good find and an interesting topic. Seems like it could be moved outright but I'm glad you didn't so I could see the page. A redirect should be kept when moved, as 'Saint' would be both a common error and a word used outright by those not versed in the topic. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:11, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Order of the masters ?

What is the order of the masters? Starting with the date of birth?--Riquix (talk) 09:46, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Alphabetical, as it says in the hidden comment at the top of the list. Primefac (talk) 16:56, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Right spelling oft titel ?

Im from germany. Ist the right spelling of the title from the article saints instead of sants ?--Riquix (talk) 09:50, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

No, there is a difference between a saint, which is more of a Christian term, and sant, which is used more in Eastern religions. Primefac (talk) 16:56, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Need to condense long entries?

Some of the entries read like mini-biographies. Perhaps they should only contain name and date unless it is necessary to distinguish persons with the same title? 49.184.8.0 (talk) 03:38, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Other than Sahadeo Tiwari, which I've trimmed down, which entries need to be shortened? I'm only skimming but most look like lists of alternate names. Primefac (talk) 10:17, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Adding Sarada Devi

i would add Sarada Devi, spiritual consort of Paramahansa Ramakrishna, to this list 88.152.145.208 (talk) 13:28, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

Do they have a Wikipedia page? Primefac (talk) 22:19, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
Yes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarada_Devi?wprov=sfla1 77.189.29.63 (talk) 03:08, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Done. Primefac (talk) 10:31, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Please add Swami Avdheshanand Giri to this list

The page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Swami_Avdheshanand_Giri?action=edit is a draft. I would request editors to add the page here and help publish this page on Acharya Mahamadaleshwar of Juna Akhara. Shatbhisha6 (talk) 09:00, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
