Jade McLeughlin edit

if not a typo, this must be a very rare variant spelling of the name McLaughlin (or possibly McGleughlin). Are we sure we've got the right name here? Soap 16:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

The John D'Emilio book source spells name as Jade McLeughlin. Pyxis Solitary (yak yak). Ol' homo. 07:42, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes I saw that in the footnotes and I still think it may be a mistake. People misspell others' names all the time. I admit I am very stubborn, but I am not the type to make a statement and then find every reason to deny that I was wrong ... I really think it may be a mistake. Perhaps I should try to find newspaper articles or something that wouldn't be so easy to turn up on Google. Best wishes, Soap 11:56, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I love a good challenge that brings out the librarian in me.
The name is spelled Jade McGleughlin: https://outhistory.org/items/show/5311.
She made her comment about lesbian bed death in a speech at the "Sex and Politics Forum" held during the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.
At the time, McGleughlin was also the partner of lesbian & gay rights activist Sue Hyde, organizer of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in New England (they married after same-sex marriage became legal in Massachusetts in 2004).
McGleughlin is a LICSW. One of her articles, Can a Diamond Ever Be Gay? was published in the Studies in Gender and Sexuality journal in 2008. Pyxis Solitary (yak yak). Ol' homo. 02:04, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
