"Un-folk"
editJust a note that I removed the "un-folk" section as POV. I'm sure it's possible to re-incorporate some of the ideas from this section with proper references. However, with a little googling, I can't find any sources which claim that her music is derivative of Feist, Yael Naim, etc. Nor can I find any references for 'lenka "un-folk"', except those which quote this Wikipedia article. [1] The section read too much like an original music review, so I removed it. Rhobite (talk) 20:00, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
I personally thinks she sounds like un-folk/anti-folk. While I definitely agree that she is pop, I certainly would say she's not indie rock or alternative rock. She does not sound anything remotely like Death Cab for Cutie (indie rock/pop), or U2 (alternative rock). In fact, I would not label her rock at all. She's pop, and possibly anti-folk. The music does sound similar, and while other people aren't comparing her yet to the likes of Regina Spektor, that doesn't mean she doesn't sound like it. Listen to their two most famous songs, "Fidelity" and "The Show" and you will realize they sound very similar. Mackerni888 (talk) 05:25, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your message! I don't edit here much anymore. All I was really getting to with the above comment is, if we want to describe her music as anti-folk, un-folk, etc. then this should meet the guidelines of Wikipedia:Verifiability. We need to cite some sources which have described her music as such. Your personal opinions on classifying her music are valuable, but they can't be the basis for changing the article. I agree that we should not describe the music as rock unless we cite sources which describe it that way. Thanks for writing! Rhobite (talk) 22:35, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Early Life
editA large chunk of the "Early Life" section sounds like a press-release. Suggest removal. Example: "...But no matter where she ventures, those early memories of her childhood spent in the Australian bush are still close to her heart. Others may struggle to get in touch with their inner child; Lenka never lost hers.
Her sinuous vocals drape around her lyrics with the ease of a child hanging onto its mother's legs…or of a serpent wrapping itself around the neck of its prey. Whether channeling our long-repressed terrors ("Trouble Is A Friend") or long-lost innocence ("We Will Not Grow Old"), her music evokes primal emotions, unblemished by pretense or cynicism – and unashamed of cracking a smile occasionally." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.12.174.20 (talk) 07:57, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- The large chunk is copied almost entirely from her biography on myplay.com (http://myplay.com/artists/lenka/bio) --it's not just out-of-place; there's a copyright thing going on, too. I'm going to remove it and write a proper one later. (But if someone wants to beat me to it, =D please!) Tserton (talk) 14:07, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Should Lenka point to either Lenka (given name) or Lenka (disambiguation)?
editAs Lenka is simply a given name or the diminutive of a given name, should this article point to either Lenka (given name) or Lenka (disambiguation), regardless of whether currently she be the most well-known Lenka? (qv Masha, Ivanka) ... in which case this article would either be Lenka Kripac or Lenka (aussie singer) or suchlike. No offence intended towards Lenka Kripac or her many fans...
