Ego stroking edit

is the ego stroking of reciting all the famous people who owns his works really necessary? its just a long list of names Proton (talk) 23:15, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article does appear overly promotional, not in line with other similar articles, but if its true, the material can stay if sourced. Maybe just reworded. I want to point out that unless created or expanded by the artist, this article as it stands reflects more fan enthusiasm than ego stroking, to be fair to the artist.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
i have cleaned up the collector section, by simply substituting notable institutions which have his work. Normally, its not notable that private collectors will have an artists work, unless there is one person who has a large collection. i think the promotional tone is gone now.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:41, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Likely increase in notability edit

Due to his being the creator of the new Michael Jackson album cover, his notability is likely going to increase exponentially. I would strongly encourage anyone who comes to this article help to improve it. currently its not very well structured and overly promotional, which at this point is entirely unnecessary. I will try to get around to it. it needs to have external links moved from the body of the article to the references or external links sections, and the list of people who own his work needs citations, even if just from the authors website.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK, i did most of the rearranging, but it still needs to be fleshed out. im tired now.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 07:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK, done with the restructuring and addition of basic facts. I still think it may need more sourced material, as he appears to be a very high profile artist at this point.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:43, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Album cover edit

As this is the artists most recognizable work, and is also the source for a world record poster, I have placed the artwork here, as fair use. however, i cant figure out how to indicate in the images fair use rationale that it should also be permitted herre. thus, im saying it here, in case anyone wonders why its used in 2 locations.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 00:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Evaluation by critics edit

The article says he has been very successful commercially, and it says he has won awards, but where is a section on evaluation by art critics? Compare to the article Norman Rockwell, another modern American artist, who was also very popular and commercially successful, but who was dismissed as a "mere illustrator" by art critics. Is this artist's work loved by critics as much as by famous people who have purchased it? Edison (talk) 13:52, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Family edit

The article reads like a promotional brochure rather than a biography. Coverage of his personal life is needed. Compare to Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, or Winslow Homer. What kind of family life did he have growing up? What was his subsequent life like? Edison (talk) 13:52, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I found a few instances of reliably sourced info about his parentage and early art training and added it.. I found info about his mother and his uncle, but nothing about his father. I did not include info perhaps less well sourced as to his siblings or his own marital status. Edison (talk) 04:58, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Bibliography edit

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue.
