National Register citation

The reference is incomplete. We need a number to their website. 7&6=thirteen () 15:48, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am a bit surprised

edit

to see Devereux's nationality listed as Irish. Surely as a Civil War vet and a leading architect, who, as far as we know, never returned to Ireland, he was a US citizen. I'm not even sure what Irish nationality meant in 1860. Otherwise, it is amazing what an oak has grown from my ill-advised acorn planted a day or two ago. He died at the age of 80. Don't know his citizenship to a certainty. 7&6=thirteen () 21:20, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I know he was born in Ireland as per the 1900 and 1910 Census. What citizenship it doesn't say, as he may have received an American citizenship after immigrating here to the United States.--Doug Coldwell talk 23:20, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lead paragraph

edit

It's dangling. The end just ends. It needs a better citation. 7&6=thirteen () 21:21, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

and I am not at all happy with this ending:
"His NRHP-listed works include:[3]
The link, 3, such as it is, really goes nowhere. It should (opinion) either go to list of Devereux's NRHP listings or go nowhere at all. Be removed. Any ideas? Carptrash (talk) 23:01, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right off hand, I'd say to delete those words - unless someone has a way of extending the sentence. Maybe that was intended originally to belong to the section Architectural Work.--Doug Coldwell talk 23:12, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I sent an inquiry to Carptrash, as he may know where to find such a source. 7&6=thirteen () 00:56, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I removed the one line. Expanded and rewrote lead paragraph to encompass more of the article.
Should the Courthouse be mentioned in the lead? 7&6=thirteen () 01:58, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'll put in my 2 cents worth on your question. Yes, because it is such a significant building.--Doug Coldwell talk 14:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Infobox

edit

We used and filled out the person infobox. Going through some related material, I discovered there is an "architect" infobox. See Ammi B. Young. 7&6=thirteen () 02:04, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Masonic Temple

edit

There should be a linkback to the Masonic Hall in List of Masonic buildings in the United States, which does not yet have a South Carolina section. This new article is a WP:orphan. 7&6=thirteen () 14:29, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Census names

edit

There are quite a few places apparently where his or his mother's name is shown as "Devereaux" in the 1860 and 1880 census. Is that correct? Should there be an explanation in a footnote, for example? 7&6=thirteen () 18:33, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
