Before he moved to London, wasn't James Braidwood also the Chief Fire Officer in Edinburgh, Scotland (now Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade)? It isn't mentioned anywhere in the article. --Daysleeper47 14:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Two citations needed

I have flagged the following items as "citation needed":

• Fireboat named in his honour in the 1930s. I have seen this fact repeated on several websites, but they all appear to have just copied this article without any further references. I have not been able to find any other corroboration.

• "Braidwood was distinguished for his heroism on the occasion of great fires in Edinburgh (1824) and London (1830). He also undertook a pastoral role, introducing visits to firemen and their families by the London City Mission."
  • What 1803 London fire does this refer to? And what was Braidwood's connection with it (given that he didn't arrive in London until 1833)?
  • What were the "acts of heroism" in connection with the 1824 Edinburgh fire? Braidwood had only just taken charge of the fire service, which was overwhelmed by the fire. Braidwood learnt valuable lessons from it, but I can find no reports of any particularly heroic acts.
  • I have also failed to find a citation for his involvement with the London City Mission. He is mentioned in the article on the mission, but that mention is itself un-referenced.
