I have completed a major rewrite of this article, in an attempt to make it better reflect Wikipedia policies on neutrality. It is my first effort, so it may not be as successful as I might like. I realise that it still lacks quality secondary sources, and intend to seek these out. Much commentary has been written on this writer, but equally this is not easily available, existing in publications, articles and reviews not usually archived in typical centres of research (at least where I am situated in Australia). However, it may in the present form, internet and tertiary sources aside, be a positive stop towards a good end result.
Some ideas for improvement
- Dann has written primarily shorter fiction, and the small section about this, does not seem to properly reflect this huge body of published work
- Some of the novels section has a summary, brief commentary, and some bibliographic information. Others do not, reflecting my inability to date to source these novels, and information and commentary about them.
- The Memory Cathedral at least might seem to warrant a separate article, it seems to be the most noted of the author's novels, and has been commented on in a range of forums, including historical ones
- I have no idea what sort of poetry Dann writes. It is a minor part of his work, but at least a sentence about in the existing poetry section, properly sourced, would be useful
- Some might question the relatively larger section on writing technique, the logic behind this, is that Dann is well known as a writing teacher and it would seem appropriate thus, to provide information about his approach to writing.
- Dann's bibliography is massive, might a separate article be more appropriate than adding a bibliography which would dwarf the main body of the article?

Have come to realise that is difficult writing in detail about some science fiction, etc writer works, if they have not generally been written about in academic books etc. I wanted not only to bring stronger sourcing to this article, but also to added some information about themes, etc. Although there are comments in reviews and articles, in depth discussion of themes and style is perhaps harder to find and referencing lots of snippets of small mentions to string together a commentary, which becomes pretty much original research by default. Have received offer of some help with material however, so hopefully this will allow more workMesmacat (talk) 04:35, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Assessment comment
editThe comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Jack Dann/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
While a Bibliography for Jack Dann's work would seem appropriate for this page, the couple I have looked at ran to over a hundred entries, and would seem to suggest the necessity of a separate bibiographic entry for the writer. Mesmacat (talk) 01:06, 20 January 2009 (UTC) |

Bibliography
editWhile there is a great deal of bibliographic information in the article, there is no explicit Bibliography section. I have thus started one, using cite templates and tables for short stories, poems and/or book reviews. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. Feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 10:22, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
