Currently, I am engaging in an edit war with YahwehSaves (Talk|Contribs) and their sock puppet75.79.31.20 (Talk|Contribs) (which is a common occurrence for their disruptive edits, see their contributions page), for their attempts to add unreferenced and uncited information. One issue is the Combat Action Ribbon, which wasn't awarded until 1969. YahwehSaves continues to add this information, among other unreferenced information, to the page, where I promptly revert the edit & invite them to discuss such edits here at the talk page. It is not my intention to keep factual information from being on this page, but I'm unable to find any references to Jack Chevigny being retroactively awarded the CAR. As such, the edits made by YahwehSaves & 75.79.31.20 will be continue to be reverted if unreferenced.Bullmoosebell (talk) 02:22, 14 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
There is no "CAR issue" here. There is nothing in this article about Jack Chevigny's military awards (no awards list). There hasn't been anything edited or discussed here about a CAR-Combat Action Ribbon. Public Law 105-65, President Clinton, Oct. 5, 1999 authorizes the Secretary of the Navy to award the Combat Action Ribbon to members of the Navy or Marine Corps who participated in combat during any period after Dec. 6, 1941. The CAR is one of John Chevigny's military awards since he was KIA on Feb. 19, 1945, on Iwo Jima.
The issue here is Jack Chevigny's place of birth. Bullmoosebell insists Chevigny was born in Hammond, Indiana. Chevigny was born in Dyer, Indiana (deleted by Bullmoosebell) and is referenced in the article at: Indiana Football Hall of Fame (see Date of Birth; "in Dyer, IN") [1]; the other issue is Jack Chevigny's biography which includes his early life in Dyer, Indiana that is referenced (p. 14; 11-12): The Last Chalkline: The Life&Times of Jack Chevigny by Jeff Walker.
