J. ClarkJason Crowe "J." Clark – this does not appear to he the primary meaning of "J.Clark" [1]; so "J. Clark" should redirect to the name article Clark where multiple J. Clarks are listed; not to mention Jay Clarks -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 05:06, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Support clearly not only J. Clark In ictu oculi (talk) 09:04, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - see my comments below. Ivanvector (talk) 14:29, 12 March 2015 (UTC) see belowReply
  • Move to Jason Crowe Clark or something else such as J. Clark (musician), but not to Jason Crowe "J." Clark, as that seems to violate WP:NICKNAME, which says to "avoid (for example) adding a nickname, or a contracted version of the original first name(s) in quotes between first and last name. For example: Bill Clinton, not William "Bill" Clinton." —BarrelProof (talk) 18:17, 13 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to J. Clark (musician). Far too common a name not to be disambiguated. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:13, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutral - I somehow missed that musician Ghetts goes by J. Clarke (with an E at the end) so there isn't any need to disambiguate between the two. There doesn't seem to be any other person with an article who is known by "J. Clark", and as such this page doesn't need to be renamed, but I'm not opposed to it. • Oppose per Ivanvector. Many people could be referred to as "J. Clark", but how many frequently are? I see evidence for only one. The current hatnote is sufficient. --BDD (talk) 15:27, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • In fact, before the present it was usual to only use initials in books and newspaper articles, and not first names. So any of them could have been and probably were referred to as Mr J. Clark (e.g. "Mr J. Clark, the famous musician"). It's just not enough for disambiguation purposes. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:55, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I know, but I'd need to see evidence of such usages to sway me. Looking over search results for "J Clark" isn't turning anything up. I'd want to see something like the first sentence at Samuel Johnson ("often referred to as Dr Johnson"). --BDD (talk) 17:12, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per BDD. If the only J. Clark in the whole world was (for example) this Jim Clark racing driver, would we set up a redirect J. Clark on Wikipedia, pointing to the main Jim Clark article? We would not. Unless there was some reason to think he was commonly known by that initial, that redirect simply wouldn't exist. So that means that the guy who really is called "J. Clark" is the only plausible target for this article name. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 23:07, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Discussion edit

Any additional comments:
  • Per a discussion at Rfd, I have drafted a disambiguation page at J Clark listing possible targets. I agree with moving the artist's page to the artist's full name, and then the disambiguation page should be moved to this location to conform with the manual of style on initials.
