Nomination for Speedy Deletion

edit

This article should not be deleted as it is not a test page as suggested by the delete template but a stub. Hong Kong Adventist Academy is an educational institution at secondary level thus it means Wikipedia's notability requirements.DZadventiste (talk) 06:49, 11 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

According to the Sam Yuk Middle School article, the school was integrated into Hong Kong Adventist Academy. This is not stated on the Sam Yuk Middle School website however, all news articles go up to 2007 before they stop. Also, the Adventist Yearbook states that Sam Yuk Middle School is no longer in operation yet the Hong Kong Educational Bureau still recognises that it is in operation. Is there any Wikipedian in Hong Kong that can clarfy this?

Suggestion to Restore Page

edit

Student of HKAA here! Was wondering why the page had been deleted, and found that discussion had no one to vouch for the institution. Hong Kong Adventist Academy is technically run by Hong Kong Adventist College, but within the past 3 years steps have been made on the part of the administration to operate more independently of the College (I am well-acquainted with the operations, having been here for the past 5 years). All of HKAA's departments operate independently of HKAC (which was not the case 3 years ago), and one likely reason as to why HKAC is said to be the current operator of HKAA is because we operate on the same campus, which allows us to share our facilities and our community. In light of these not-so-recent changes, I do believe that the page should be restored. As a source, the school's website is trustable, despite it's jankiness. EzraEn The school's website is not independent. There's been a surge of interest in this in the last few days, so I need to ask, what's your relationship to Hong Kong Adventist Academy (talk · contribs) & Rudi444 (talk · contribs)? Cabayi (talk) 09:17, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for my failure to reply in a timely manner, I only saw this notification today. My relationship with Hong Kong Adventist Academy is that I am a recently graduated alum. I continue to retain close relation with both the Academy and College, as I have attended HKAA and currently attend HKAC.

I do not know who Rudi444 is. EzraEn (talk) 11:24, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Cabayi Thank you for notifying me about the discussion surrounding Rudi444 (talk · contribs) and Hong Kong Adventist Academy (talk · contribs). I was not aware that anyone had sought to take action regarding the Hong Kong Adventist Academy page, and I would like to clarify as to what I believe may have occurred re the user Hong Kong Adventist Academy (talk · contribs). Here is a rough timeline of events. In Mid-April 2021, I was a student at Hong Kong Adventist Academy. At the time I was searching for a statistic (Teacher-to-student ratio) that I had recalled being on the Hong Kong Adventist Academy Wikipedia page but was unable to find it, and subsequently discovered the merging of the page into the Hong Kong Adventist College. I began the Suggestion to Restore Page Talk in which we are currently discussing, and promptly notified a member of the Marketing Department at the Academy that we no longer had a separate page from the College. I did not hear back from that staff member, and they are currently no longer employed at HKAA. I apologise profusely for their inappropriate mode of action as I am partially responsible for it, being the person who chose to inform someone with a direct COI. Fast-forward to August 22, when I opened up Wikipedia for the first time in a long while. Seeing a notification in my mobile web interface, I was finally informed of the aftermath. Again, I would like to apologise for the failure to adhere to Wikipedia's Guidelines as I did not realise that the staff member involved would take such inordinate action. How may I best assist with the proper restoration/rewriting of the Hong Kong Adventist Academy page? My potential conflicts of interest are that I am an alumni of Hong Kong Adventist Academy, and am currently a student at Hong Kong Adventist Academy. I have not been employed at either of these institutions. EzraEn (talk) 12:08, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
