Talk:Hanukkah music

Latest comment: 13 years ago by Georgia guy in topic Key of "Who Can Retell"

Does anyone have the lyrics of the English version of Levin Kipnis sond "Chag yafe kol kach"?

edit

The Hebrew transcript is:
Chanukah, Chanukah, Chag yafe kol kach
Or chaviv misaviv, gil leyeled rach

The external links is a valuable part of the page, not (as an anonymous editor said) part of a marketing campaign. (The external link is free, and gives more information about the songs, and makes the songs available.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.194.23.91 (talk) 16:00, 2 December 2007 (UTC) The link to # Hanukkah songsheets is broken. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.108.85.31 (talk) 06:17, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Requested move

edit

Why doesn't the title of this article spell Hanukkah the way it's spelled on that article's title and most of the rest of Wikipedia? --Steven J. Anderson (talk) 02:20, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the heading of this section and requested a move. Please comment here. --Steven J. Anderson (talk) 00:52, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

This appears to be an uncontroversial change, per the naming of all related articles. Making the change as requested now. Dekimasuよ! 01:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Samuel S Grossman

edit

Under the "I had a little dreidel" section, it says that: "The author and lyrics writer are Samuel S. Grossman", where Samuel S Grossman links to Samuel Joseph Grossman. It seems fairly clear (from their initials and from the page on S.J. Grossman) that the two are not the same people. This should be fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.78.100.78 (talk) 09:39, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Chanukah Song

edit

I don't think this song really fits here. The other songs listed are either traditional verses that have existed, with or without their current tunes for centuries, are sung by large numbers of people on the holiday, or are echoing sentiments and/or traditions associated with the holiday. "The Chanukah Song" seems to me to me to not fit any of these, and is more of just a song that refers to Hanukkah, and not a Hanukkah song. 35.11.168.199 (talk) 13:07, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orrin Hatch

edit

How is the Orrin Hatch song appropriate here? It's a traditional Hanukkah song? Really? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.207.115.220 (talk) 02:46, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

No mention of Lehrer's "Hanukkah In Santa Monica"? 99.98.1.31 (talk) 07:10, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Key of "Who Can Retell"

edit

It is clear that the first section of "Who Can Retell" is in F major. But the second section is confusing. There's a dispute on whether it is in C minor (it is based primarily on the C minor and G7 chords) or F minor (it ends with an authentic cadence of the key of F minor.) Anything to clear this up??
