Requested edit: rewrite/restructuring
edit{{Request edit}}
Hi folks. A draft rewrite/restructuring for this article is now ready for review. It's available at: User:Eclipsed/Guy Bavli. Comments/criticism welcomed. Thanks! Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 17:57, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- I suppose just removing those sections works... SilverserenC 18:01, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Eclipsed. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. That draft is certainly an improvement, but there are more things that need attention: First, it is too reliant on press releases for references - they can be used very occasionally ("Bavli moved from Israel to the United States in 2002" is ok for example), but in general, if something can't be found in a better source, it shouldn't be incldued in the article. For example, this is used to reference "Bavli became the first Israeli to win an international magic competition in the United States" which is definitely not an ok way to use a press release. Second, IMO the article is still overly positive - the career section needs stripping back of anything that doesn't have independent coverage - you should remove any mention of working with corporate clients - this makes it seem entirely like an advert. I also checked this source but can't find anything to back up "In 1986 he was awarded 3rd place Stage performer at Luis Tannen’s magic competition in New York City." it says he was given an award of some kind, but doesn't mention what for. There might be more things that need attention but that's enough for now. SmartSE (talk) 18:18, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- No worry, thanks for the very good comments about the article. 2nd round of changes to draft now online, see diff[1] Thanks. Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 22:00, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- With the changes made by SmartSE and myself, I think the Guy Bavli article draft may be ready for mainspace. Could someone take a look? Thanks. Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 08:55, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for not getting here sooner - I have moved the draft live. It is a big improvement, but there are still a few problems - a) there is no source for his DOB AFAICT - if there is no source, it needs removing per BLP. b) ref 8 is not a reliable source for what it is referencing, the same applies to refs 9 and 11. Can you fix this up? If not I'll remove them and any info not referenced to other sources. SmartSE (talk) 09:55, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I`ll try to help out with the referencing issues soon. But no worry if other editors want to remove stuff until the refs are improved. Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 05:04, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Considering that two of those refs are backed up by a separate one, only the first part of the sentence would have to be removed, which really isn't that big of a loss anyways. SilverserenC 05:43, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Started a new draft at User:Eclipsed/Guy Bavli 2. As always, all are welcome to contribute to the draft. Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 03:10, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
proposed update
edit{{Request edit}}
Hi folks. A new draft for the Guy Bavli biography is now ready for review at User:Eclipsed/Guy Bavli 2. Changes are:
- date of birth changed to just 1971, as no references yet found that verify more then the year
- The infobox formatting is updated a bit
- improve coverage of references
- Removed current ref #8 as no longer needed
- Added new ref for an article in magicseen magazine. The link on that ref is to the magazines 'back issue' index page. (For background only, a scan of the article is available on the subjects press page.)
Thanks. Eclipsed (talk) (COI Declaration) 06:33, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- Looking over the changes you made, I see it's all pretty straightforward. No real change int he text at all, just reference improvements. This shouldn't be an issue at all. SilverserenC 03:51, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

- Done Not controversial. You could have done this or I could've added G (as in "{{edit COI | G}} = Template:Request edit/proceed to ask the submitter to implement the edits themselves (good for non-controversial edits and major re-writes)") but that might not be obvious in edit summaries. Neutral party making the edit is likely best. Your efforts to demonstrate neutrality in editing are appreciated. DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 13:36, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
