I removed a paragraph in the article claiming this Gene Moore is the same as the hero of Playing With the Enemy. Besides the fact that the book says in two different spots that the Gene Moore who played for the Cardinals and Dodgers is a different person, several facts don't match up. The Gene Moore in the book was born in Illinois, not Texas; the Gene Moore in the book would have been born in 1925, not 1909, to turn 17 in 1942; the Gene Moore in the book had a middle name of Eugene, not a first name; and the Gene Moore in the book did not have a father in professional baseball.
