The result of the move request was: no consensus to move the page at this time, per the discussion below. Please note that support for a move by the editor proposing the move is already assumed, so it isn't necessary to express support below the proposal. We do not necessarily use official names on Wikipedia (see WP:OFFICIAL). In this case, it may be appropriate to wait for evidence that reliable secondary sources have begun using the new title before changing our title here (see WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES for more information). I have created a redirect from the proposed title. Dekimasuよ! 20:27, 9 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I moved before looking as the talk page. I didn't think such a move would be controversial in any way. GeorgeofOrange (talk) 01:08, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The school does seem to use the new name themselves, as both their web page and Facebook show.GeorgeofOrange (talk) 01:15, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The problem with articles of this sort is the lack of independent, reliable sources confirming the notability of the institution. We're forced to rely on what the institution calls themselves when there are no independent sources cited. However, I think it's fair to assume that such sources, if found, will conform to the institution's current name. – wbm1058 (talk) 01:43, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

For-profit status

edit

The U.S. Department of Education classifies this institution as "for-profit" so the editor(s) that want to change the article to list the institution as "not-for-profit" need to provide some equally credible source(s). It's possible that the institution is considered "not-for-profit" by some entities but "for-profit" by the Department of Education for financial aid purposes; that is the current situation for Grand Canyon University (so we explicitly explain it in the article with multiple sources). Non-profit status

edit

As part of Columbia College Hollywood, the staff at Flashpoint Chicago are currently communicating with IPEDS to have our non-profit status properly reflected. In the meantime, please see the source that I have explicitly provided from our accrediting body the WASC Senior College and University Commission that verifies that the college and its two campuses, Columbia College Hollywood and Flashpoint Chicago, are both non-profit institutions.[1] Lissette Edcura (talk) 12:20, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, that's very helpful! ElKevbo (talk) 18:40, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
