DAB? edit

There are many sports organizations that have a "Division 1" or "First Division", including Swedish Football Division 1, NCAA Division I, French Division 1, Thai Division 1 League, Cyprus Basketball Division 1, Scottish Football League First Division, Football League One, J-League 1, etc. I suggest that Division 1 and Division I be moved to more explicit names, and a disambiguation page be created to sort them all out. Division 1Swedish football Division 1 — There are many sports leagues called 'Division 1' (see above). Division 1 might be more useful as a disambiguation page. See also discussion at WT:WikiProject Sports#Division 1/I/One. Cnilep (talk) 22:55, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Move edit

I don't believe my concern above about whether or not this is a common name for the league were adequately addressed. Why did we move this article to a name that fans of the league may or may not recognize? Powers T 13:04, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't think I have ever seen any Swedish league being called "Swedish football x". A much better alternative is Division 1 (Sweden) (as I don't think it is ever referred to in any other way, if referred to in English it is probably "the Swedish Division 1" where Swedish is just used to disambiguate). Would really be better to RM this (and related articles that were moved, Division 2 and 3 etc) to Division X (Sweden) chandler 02:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate the response. It seems some people were overeager to try to push a decision through without adequate input. Powers T 19:00, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

I believe Swedish Football Division 1 Södra and Swedish Football Division 1 Södra should be merged to Division 1 (Swedish football). Division 1 (Swedish football) covers the whole topic. Smartskaft (talk) 08:16, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Smartskaft: I agree. While editing last night I saw that most (if not all) of the info on Swedish Football Division 1 Norra and Swedish Football Division 1 Södra is already in Division 1 (Swedish football). And in regards to any new information that may be added to Norra and Södra articles in the future - I don't think that will be out of place in the main Division 1 article.
