Early years edit

Shouldn't the information in this section be cited? The ACJ, GSWA, and Scout.com info all seem like stuff that can and should be cited. Finally, the last section of the sentence seems a bit promotional to me. Playing golf on his high school team would be relevant if golf were featured significantly elsewhere in the article, but it's only mentioned once in that section. Also, it's nice that he had a 3.9 GPA in high school, but seems irrelevant. Is it just being used to try and show he's intelligent or well-rounded? He probably is, but like golf, nothing is mentioned about "how intelligent Butler" is anywhere else in the article.

So, I suggest removing this last sentence per WP:BLPSOURCES unless it can be backed up with a specific citation from a reliable third-party source. I also suggest adding "citation needed" templates to the "ACJ", "GWSA", and "Sport.com" info. Please discuss whether you feel this is appropriate. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 15:50, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Atlanta-Constitutional Journal" citation edit

There's some problems with the ACJ source used to cite he was a second-team All American in 2010. The first one is that the original link is dead. I believe I have found an archived version of this link here which was archived on January 11, 2011. The date of archived article is the same as the original, and it does say list Butler as a second-teamer; The problem is that the title of the two articles are not the same: Original:"AP All-America Team, List "; Archived: "Newton, Fairley give Auburn All-American anchors". Not sure why they are different, but the dead original link should be fixed if possible per WP:LR#Repairing a dead link. If the two articles are the same, this is fairly easy: Just add the archived link info to the template by either changing the same of the article or using the new name and the "other" parameter. If the two articles are not the same, things are a little trickier. Either completely replace the original source with the new one, or add a {{deadlink}} template to it and then add the new archived source. Not sure what else can be done. Finally, I personally think the cited source should either be moved closer to the text it is actually supporting for "text-source integrity" purposes or the citations should be bundled together per WP:CITEBUNDLE. The way it is currently being done sort of makes it seem as if all of the sources used in that particular sentence are citing or at least are more closely associated with the "Sports Illustrated" info. Interested in hearing what others have to say. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 16:26, 16 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
