World War II service

edit

Although Avery served in the United States Army during the World War II era, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served overseas in a war zone during the war. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of World War II was removed from the article.

Also, although Category:United States Army soldiers was added to the article, it is possible that he actually served in the United States Army Air Forces. If that's the case, Category:United States Army Air Forces soldiers would be the more appropriate category. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 15:12, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

There's an article in the sports section of the Lincoln Sunday Journal and Star from August 27, 1944 that says Private Don Avery, who played college ball at Alabama, was a tackle on the Second Army Air Force football team. This is a ref that he was a soldier in the Army Air Forces. Accordingly, this will be added to the article. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 18:43, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
