First mountaineer in North America? edit

According to the mountaineering page, Mount Washington was climbed in 1642 by Darby Field, so this seems to contradict the above statement. 90.242.7.48 08:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

"In the Spring of 1826, David Douglas was compelled to climb a peak (Mt. Brown, of the mythical pair Hooker and Brown) near Athabasca Pass to take in the view. In so doing, he became the first mountaineer in North America."

The mountains aren't mythical at all and in fact there are pages on each here on Wikipedia. Therefore the page on Mounts Hooker and Brown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooker_and_Brown - my browser isn't allowing html editing right now) is erroneous and needs to be removed, and this page edited.
