Mostly composed of subject's quotes edit

Added a WP:BLPSELFPUB tag. The template's wording is a little harsh: "only attribution is to self-published sources," whereas this article is just mostly self-pub, so feel free to swap it out for {{Self-published|article}} if you see fit. Will try to come back and remove sections and block-quotes in violation per BLP when I have the time. Ductwork (talk) 18:02, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tag was reverted by an editor using various IPs in the 2806:107e range with the note:

Extensive Citations from "reliable, independent sources" plus Credible./Verifiable External Sources Abound in this Article. Tag about "Sel-Published" sources is so inappropriate, please.

I've switched it to Template:Advert which is hopefully less inflammatory. I still feel WP:BLP is relevant along with some WP:QUOTE issues, but we can work our way up to that and deal with the tone first.
Some examples of some text that we should tone down:
  • On Walker's mother: a "divine parental calling to seriously see that young Walker got excellent education in any possible way"
  • On childhood thoughts: "hopes, ideals and aspirations of all humankind"
  • Introducing a quote about his college days: "Walker bared his 'knowledgeable' mind to the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin's multimedia coordinator: Marc Speir; and to humanity, in April 2014..."
  • On Walker's time at UT: "life-changing, interesting and eye-opening"
  • "Walker's grandmother would be joyful to know that her grandson did get to be in Houston Forward Times and Jet..."
  • "Walker, a Texas native, led a stellar career in finance and law..."
  • On Walker's book: "It convenes some of the most important voices in philanthropy..."
For example, we can edit this:

His mother was a highly devoted "old-fashioned black churchwomen values" driven nurse's aide, who made it a reality of divine parental calling to seriously see that young Walker got excellent education in any possible way. Walker narrated that:

To read like this:

His mother, a nurse's aide, was instrumental in his education. Walker narrated that:

The tag has again been reverted with the following comment:

This Template:Advert is so misguided and has no place in this informative and NEUTRAL article on Darren Walker: President of Ford Foundation.

Trying to avoid an edit war, so I'll leave the tag down and try to start removing the WP:PEACOCK myself. If whoever is performing the reverts is reading this, please engage here on the talk page instead of reverting. Ductwork (talk) 23:53, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
