Edit reverted edit

I have reverted the edits by 68.104.124.130 (talk · contribs). The user has admitted to being the author of the book he referenced. This being a clear COI, it needs to be assessed whether the book is a reliable source. Secondly, the contributions contained speculation ("it is quite likely that Flood was distracted by...") and personal opinion ("This memoir was an apologia pro sua vita designed to evoke sympathy and justify his case by presenting himself, largely unjustifiably, ..."). I've more or less readded the essence of what he attempted to add to the article. I copy edited the section some as well, in addition to adding the Weiss book as an inline citation.

below was copied from User talk:Fabrictramp#Curt Flood

Mr flood had five children from a previous marriage to Beverly Collins according to his book "the way it is"and a "well paid slave" by Brad snyder. The article states he left the country because he was running from bankruptcy which is an opinion. Mr Flood decided to leave the country because of presure from suing MLB the media scalped this guy hounded him everywhere and marked him as an ingrateful negro who was ruining Americas past time he also had 30000 dollars cash from Bob Short owner of the Washington Senators no small sum in those days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alphawest69 (talkcontribs) 15:59, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are more than welcome to work that in to the article, but you need to do it right. When sources contradict each other, discuss both in the article and state that they contradict each other. (Bill_Veeck#Philadelphia_Phillies contains a good example of how to do that). Just removing sources and passages wholesale, especially without any edit summary, will look like vandalism, and be treated as such. I'd suggest you start by proposing a change (and listing your sources, including page numbers) at Talk:Curt Flood. HTH--Fabrictramp | talk to me 16:06, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Painting edit

I found a section stating that Curt Flood never new how to paint and that he hired a painters to do his work. However, there was no source cited that made that claim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.182.108.63 (talk) 15:42, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The source is probably the HBO special The Curious Case of Curt Flood which I am currently watching. In the show, they interview people, and show letters, that document that Flood could draw well, but did not know how to paint. He had the portraits painted for him by another artist based on photographs of the subject. Then Flood would sign the paintings before giving them to the the customer or subject. Despite the letters and others interviewed, Floods daughter said that he would never do such a thing. —MJBurrage(TC) 23:24, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
